I have to say that out of all the games I am playing Tabula Rasa is the one game that I have the most hope for and it all comes down to the developers and pretty regular patches coming out. Tonight I logged on and played the new 1.6 patch and I have to say I am very impressed. First the graghics has been tweaked or the video cards are being utilised more. Either way I was drooling. With my 8800GT card I play the game on maximum and i was hitting 45fps. I noticed my armour looked slick and the stealth effect is just fab. Also the new animations on some of the Logos abilities are also excellent. Besides the nice changes there are pages of improvements and fixes plus more tweaks. The company is making real changes and really improving the game by hitting bugs but also adding more content. I spent a couple of hours defending some control points and stil having a blast plus the XP boosts are working pretty well. Just wanted to say well done guys and I hope this game can continue to evolve.
For those who are hanging for AoC or WAR (whenever that comes out) and looking for an MMO to have fun in then I would give TR thumbs up.

I left TR after my first month. I WANTED to love it, and though I did enjoy it, it just felt a tad, well, lacking to me. I think not having any non-guild PvP and PvP rewards is what did me in. After PvE questing, a brief PvP break (for future rewards) always help keep a game fresh. My guildies are still in WoW and I refuse to join a group of strangers. Guild-only PvP is a real design flaw, IMHO.
Once the devs address this issue, I'll come back. Also, there simply aren't enough classes and abilities per class for me.
I won't write TR off completely, I'll keep an eye on it, but it's going to take some work to get me back.
Oyjord.
HATE!!!! RAWR!!!!!!
So I'm out of troll and I now have to rely on intelligent conversation. Blast!
Actually, if they decide to give the game a purpose (end-game) and maybe a sense of freedom somewhere down the line, I'd love to come back and cause a ruckus. As it was, the grind was unjustified and very constrained while I played (if you miss just one mission, you pay for it dearly later on with a mob grind-fest that lasts hours).
Is it still the same? Have they added more missions and maybe even given a little bit more freedom to players who don't like doing the same missions repeatedly?
Have they done anything to make guild PvP somewhat interesting?
Just questions, honest questions. I promise I won't attack anyone who answers.
...
I'm not checking the patch notes, I'd rather have somebody respond. That way, if none of the issues I want fixed are addressed, I can flame them for the game still being shitty!
Now that's the way to troll!
I too am impressed. With the issuses of pvp no it hasn't change as of yet, but soon we are supposed to get pvp cps, and entire pvp zones in the near future. End game is also being worked on as well as polishing the game more. The game isn't quite there yet, but another two months this game is going to be very nice. With the low price that TR is right now I also have been seeing more players. All in all things are looking like they are moving steadily in the right dirrection for this game.
One main reason I log on to TR (EU server) is the actual population. General chat is like one massive guild and really active. Its one of the rare games where people still chat globally and its a decent crowd, really helpful if you ask questions and pretty good if you are a social player. Even games I love like EVE are damn quiet if your corp members are not online.
I keep saying if this game had another year to bake it would be fantastic. But I'm still having a lot of fun. Every MMOG out there has improved with time, and if NC Soft continues to make regular updates I hope we can expect the same from TR.
I did nothing but base defend last night - and the players showed up in droves. It looked like the 4th of July.
I can only assume that none of you play a sniper, since our gun is now worthless compared to FA 5 with a regular rifle.
Just wondering
With the TSR, you no long have to charge each shot, but the guns do about 1/4 of their pre-1.6 damage, making it very rare to one-shot any given mob. The whole idea behind a sniper is one shot, one kill, and we can't even do that.
Ummm, no, PvP clan control points are not being released with PAUs. At least NCSoft has given no mention they will be launched simultaenously. No ETA has been given PAUs, clan control points, or any type of crafting revamp.
In fact, the next patch is all about snipers and spies. And last patch was snipers. And the patch before that was spies. They haven't addressed the truly gimped classes at all (exobiologist, demolitionist, and to a less extent grenadier).
They just keep pumping away spy and sniper changes for whatever reason...
They haven't added a single new high level instance in the past two patches and the last high level instance, which was actually repeatable at first, was nerfed in 1.5 to not be repeatable, thereby taking the sole piece endgame content away. I have no idea what the hell is going through their minds when they make these god awful decisions.
But hey, we have hybrids! And we have an attribute system with one working attribute (body). Yeah, they're doing a real bang up job...
It's nearly six months after launch and what do they have to show for it? Dick, that's what.
Oh well. Human language simply lacks the words to express how badly this game let us all down. So many of us were excited about this game and would gladly have paid many times the monthly price to play the game that is described on the back of the box.
I did my time in beta, I did the prelaunch so I could get my pink ape and trash can lid robot-familiars. I then paid for a retail month to see if it had gotten any better. But six months in to the game and every single mission is the same from level 10-40. Every single mob is the same, frogs.
Frogs and frogs and more frogs.
I want that game that is chronicled on my CD box
"The reality of the poor in America isn't the difference between The Haves and The Have Nots, it is the difference between The Haves and The Have Lots."
Me thinks you are over exagerating slightly. I havent seen a single frog in 6 months of playing
IMO the game is a lot better now that it was at release. At least after 1.6 I can now take on a strider / stalker with a fair chance of killing it. Before that I couldnt even scratch them with my Exobiologist.
Can someone please say "sweeping statement?"
sweeping statement
Thank you.
You are most welcome.
Regardless of what people think the population is going up because for about 3-4 months the EU server was medium and the other 3 were on low. For the past 2-3 weeks there is at least 2 servers on medium and I am starting to see 3 servers with medium population. The general chat is very active and I am starting to recognize regular players. I don't love this game with every cell in my body but I do want to complete it and after 6 months I am still really enjoying it. In fact its the 2nd longest MMO I have played after EVE. Long way to catch up but its saying something.
The population may be rising (and a $10 price tag isn't too much) and General chat (although I find Pegasus chat to be filled with retards imo), the game in its current state should still be in beta imo. There's no end-game; no real purpose other than a month or two of short-lived action of killing the same mobs over and over again. No thanks. I'd rather spend that $40 (30 for monthly fees, 10 for game) on a game with actual meaning.
Don't get me wrong, TR's combat is excellent but if this game actually had something to do (endgame, real PvP, mounts?) we could have a real game here.
Can someone please say "sweeping statement?"
In majority of her posts, that's what she does best... sweeping statement
