I think you're mistaken there. The adult theme of gore and boobies attracts a much more immature audience then something like WAR would. Most people attracted to WAR are there because they enjoy the Warhammer universe, or because they loved Dark Age of Camelot, one of the greatest PvP games released to date. I know I'll be trying to out to see what Mythic can do, though I don't trust EAMythic, considering how down the tubes DAoC has gone since EA got their filthy hands involved on it. Also, I think a lot of people realize either their computers can't handle AoC, or that its soo not ready for release :P

Still amazes me people can somehow take a moment in time, especially the week a a limited edition of a MMO releases and think they can actually draw meaningful conclusions comparing them to games that released a while back, or even worse, games that have been and will be available for much longer.

These sales charts aren't even based on the full 60k copies that were available, just the percentage the shop had available.

If you at least want to draw the conclusion that WAR is more hyped than AOC based on sales then find some info comparing the time that AoC released it's CE and then compare that to this weeks WAR CE release.

Comparing WAR now to AoC now and concluding WAR is more hyped is just silly unless AoC released this week as well.(I'm assuming it's not although I'm not sure)

I would get AoC just for the boobs and I'm 38.  It's not that I don't see boobs IRL.  But I don't see them in MMOs.  A I would like to see more.

I'm an anti censorship guy and I think America is way to prude, and would love to see more nudity in games, TV, everywhere, just on principle.

Well dA_fReAK, there is video on youtube that addresses this matter. It has been on youtube for an extended period of time, and I am very suprised that no one has posted it on the forums here so I will go ahead and do so. It is very informative and has alot of good information regarding the sales of both.

The video can be found here, at this link.

     Your welcome in advance.

Well Da_freak, I can tell you first hand after a buddy of mine was given a beta code by one of the "Funcom" developer's last night. The developer's and that game ccan kiss my ass as I don't like how they do business (been following AoC development for almost 3 years and a member of the forums for 2.6).

My buddy sends a developer a mail saying he has nothing , but time because he is jobless to play/test the game and guess what happens after a week of joining the community?

He gets into beta. I'm not saying that I was pissed that he was in "happy for him",but after some thinking I got pissed at them for not rewarding a devotion of "time".

Currently I cancelled my forum membership "**** em" and got my money off their "bull ****" CE (putting the money down on my 2nd Warhammer CE).

In honesty I think the game will be a smoldering pile of Vanguard crap once released and won't  go to it.

    In closing...

..I hope they never catch up to Warhammer's numbers.

There are more gamers in the range of 18-35 than under 18 years of age.

Good to see someone is as scarred from Vanguard as I am XD

Honestly I think the real reason Age of Conan isn't as popular is that a great majority of people who play mmos(people under 18) have to have their parents pay for them to play. America is VERY prudish, parents don't want kids to see boobies for a long time.

The average age of MMORPG players is around 26. In fact, only 25% of MMORPG players are teenagers. About 50% of MMORPG players work full-time. About 36% of players are married and 22% have children.

Thats also about the same thing my college teaches me about mmos current demographics.

I think the OP kiddy doesn't realize that Warhammer is 25 years old, which means 35+ year olds grew up playing it.

Silly kids think they know everything. LoL. Ahhhh the good ol days, back before I grew up and realized I don't know shit.

Hmm someone earlier this morning posted something similar about the pre-orders for WAR and bascially pre-orders mean diddly. The game is 6-8 months away from a possible release and that it is not even guaranteed to release this year at all. From now until it released 3/4ths of the people who pre-ordered could cancel. It's nothing more than kids just making something bigger than what it really is at this point.

I just find both games alternatives to whoever is not playing WOW or Lineage 2. I can almost guarantee that since both WAR and AOC has been hyped up so much, the slightest thing wrong with either game at release will be blown way out of proportion.

The stats used to compare are only a small portion of the real world.

Take for example the website www.warhammer.com only gets about 60k hits a month I read, however, the G W stores have a lot more visiters who buy into the lore and the TT game. With a nice 25yr history behind it all.

AoC on the other hand has no real decent games previous behind the lore, but the lore has lent itself to some great games in the past 22yrs or so. The lore also has a 75 yr history to back it up and a couple of films and cheesy spin offs.

At the end of the day the Warhammer I.P.is popular right now because Bliz reworked it to their own ripoff and therefore there are people who want to see it done properly, but it is in a specific way. Conan on the other hand has a history more to do with literature than a past time of games (whether table top, or computer games). So we have a lot more people who have played a form of a game to do with Warhammer than a Conan universe game of any type.

Just out of curiousity though, massive numbers doesn't mean to say something is a success by any other means than financial. So why the need to compare numbers? Its like... My dad is better than your dad, Or my house is better than your house because it has more bedrooms, or my jobs better than you job because I earn more money (might still be a sucky dad, house or job though) So my company is better than your company, because it sold more video games.

Right down to it, its about personal preferance at the end of the day, what appeals to you personally, and not going by peer pressure.

    OP:

What the heck? What's the point with this..? Are you sad AoC don't sell more than WAR? I bet all my money that WAR will sell x10 more than AoC after they have both had a fair time after both are released.

Many reasons, WAR is a simpler game, WARHAMMER franchise, computer hardware differences and commercial.

Still I think it's a pretty useless thread, what is there to discuss when you didn't bring up any subject?

You seriously misunderstood my post, I am aware of the fact that Warhammer is 25 years old and I myself used to play the tabletop several years back, and probably am going to continue in a while.
My post is "structured" if you may, in a way so it doesn't offend either of the two... fanboi parties.

Dont misinterpret my post dude, and if you really are 37 you're acting worse than a 12 year old (almost) "LoL" uhhh whats up with WoW fanbois adding a capital letter at the start and end of every 3 letter word/abreviation or whatever.

LoL, it silly that you think that has to do with WoW. HaHaH. Oh yea, don't call me dude, kid. I never played Warhammer, I can't stand WoW and never said how old I was. But even adults like to mess with people from time to time, especially when they title threads WAR vs AoC.

Seriously though, I'm just giving you a hard time. There is a good bit of psychology behind why people would choose one game over the other. Marketing styles, PvP, RvR, blood, boobs, graphics, backend systems, IP, Lore, age, etc ...

haha, i laughed when i saw your sig. very subtle i must say. but you are correct about numbers and preference. its all about playstyle and what you want out of a game.
