quit for a while, looking to come back....

Hey there.

So, as the title says i quit for a while...and im looking to come back. im not looking for my old friends, i'd like a new start... so if ya dont mind my old toon's names aren't important but i was on Erica server....now i hear it's empty and  pointless to play there unless you can get into one of those big clans

anyways i was wondering if there's still anyone starting this game or if the newbie towns like TI are just empty ghost towns now? and if there is a server where there's still lil newbies runnin around which one is it? I'd hate to start all over on a game where i wont get parties or even see other people until D/C grade when i can get out of my starting town/gludin.

thanks for any help

I just returned last week..  I started a couple new toons on Bartz. Lionna was my previous server and its pretty dead now.  Im moving my main from Lionna to Bartz.  If you have a lot of invested adena/gear on Erica, you should transfer servers.

I play on Bartz now and Dion is actually quite busy.  I see a healthy supply of D grade gear, not much in the way of no-grade for sale though.  I see people recruiting for lvl 5 clans in Dion regularly, I was approached by 2 seperate people on a character only level 15 to join their lvl 5 clan, so I can honestly say the population is both inviting and healthy on Bartz.  On Lionna, Dion is dead and Giran isnt too populated either.  I never see any clan recruiting either.

theres been so much that has changed since i quit, and its actually possible to level a pet now that they dont require to hit the mob at all to gain xp.  The new race is pretty neat.

as for newbie towns like TI.. im not sure.  You get through the first 20 levels so quickly now its really not an issue.  Im actually finding leveling in L2 faster than WoW for the first 40 levels.

with the newbie buff bot in every city granting endless buffs, and herb drops grouping really isnt an issue either prior to 40.  You'll breeze through content solo if you like.  However, on Bartz I frequently see groups forming for low level 20's all the time.

also, if anyone else would like to fill myself in on the newbie clan system Id appreciate it.  I hear theres some sort of newbie clan thing people can join.  how does this work?

It's the clan academy. You can join it at level 20, till lvl 40. Talk to your clan officers to join. Once in the academy you need someone to mentor you for a quest that will give you some very good D armor.

This is obviously something every new player needs to join. And the clan then gets points for every player who graduates from the academy.

I agree, you should seek out an academy as soon as possible.  I have never had a problem finding an academy and once I got to level 40 I joined the main clan and never looked back.

    Conditions for Joining

Any character, level 39 or below, who has not yet joined a clan and has not yet completed the second class transfer may join an Academy.

The maximum number of members in an Academy is 20.

So if you want and if you can, you are able to join an academy at level 5 although I doubt if you get recruited allready at that level.

The best level to join an academy, for which the clan will still get maximum clan reputation points (CRP) is level 15.

Therefore, my suggestion would be to level up to 15 in your prefered base branch (fighter or mystic)  to get the feel for the difference between melee/ranged and magic.

Once you join the Academy it will be up to the individual clan on how they promote group play and levelling of the new players. Irrespective of which the onus still lies on the applicant to clear the academy as soon as possible.

As an example we reserve one day a week specifically for Academy toons whereby, depending on the level of the Academy group that day, we may either raid (if lv 31 or less) or do AoE groups in Cata/Necro (if lv 32+).

Either way the Academy is a good way to kick off your L2 experience as most clans want to maximise their CRPs for the benefit of the whole clan, and nothing does it like the influx of new players whos contibution is both very significant to the clan as a whole and one of the easiest progression stages to manage effectively.
