Performence

How is this game Performence wise?

I have looked at the recommended/minimum requirements and i think i meet those, i have:

  • Intel core2duo T7300 2ghz, 800mhz FSB, 4mb L2 cache
  • 2GB DDR2 RAm
  • 358mb graphics memory (mobile intel graphics media accelerator)
  • Lots of hard drive space
  • Decent Internet connection

Now the problem i normally have with games is tHe graphics card. 358MB is a fair amount but it does not have the regular features of a graphics card as it 'borrows' memory from the RAM. Does this game require T&L lighting or some sort of advanced pixel shaders? If it does my laptop may not be able to play it.

Can anyone tell me hwo well it plays on their computer? And if your specs are similar to mine. If this game is very high on the graphics scale (it's final fantasy, so i'm assuming it is) i may have problems. Does it run smoothly for most people? and will it run smoothly on mine?

Normally i would just have a go at the free trial. Unfortunatley the trial for this isn't free, and i'm not buying a disc if the game isn't going to work. Please help me out here.

DL the Vana'diel Benchmark 3 from PlayOnline.com and test ur PC!

There are also other ways to increase textures and resolutions beyond the games setup menu and make the game look 3-4x better than it already does by forcing hex codes in ur REGEDIT!

really..... if you have a PC build post 1999 you can probably run this game. it is not a very demanding game on your PC.

Your graphics card must be a NVIDIA or RADEON 32MB or higher to play the game.
It cannot be Intel Graphics Card or anything else.
Your computer must have a NVIDIA or RADEON card, and if you don't believe me google search "Final Fantasy XI System Speculations".
If you go to the gaming store and see a Final Fantasy XI box on the bottom of the box is the specs, it also says there what you need.

Go to your DXDIAG report and compare.

    to do that,

    For XP Operating Systems
    1. Click Start at the left corner of your screen
    2. Click Run which is underneath Search and above LogOut and Shut Down
    3. In the box if there is something there, erase it and type in "dxdiag" without the quotations some people actually put the quotations in there and flip out like I'm the jackass.
3 1/2. IF a box pops up that gives you the option to click OK or CANCEL click OK. That's just giving your computer the right for you to look over your systems specs.
    4. Your DXDIAG report will pop up, let it load up a bit over half and start looking over your display which will have your current graphics card and sound which contains sound....

Yep you need another graphic card but anyway i tried this game with a nvidia fx 5200 card (50$) the first time and it was really fine FFXI dont need a good pc to play it. So anyway if you can pay 20$ per month to play a game you surely can pay at least 50 buck to buy a card. But anyway with you system who is still a good one you probably want a decent graphic card too but that depend on what you really do. Anyway you can get a good 3d card for 200$ even less and you will be sure you can play FFXI with the top settings.

I do not believe this game uses any shaders,i can't recall seeing anything that looks like it.Most graphic cards even from many years ago still have video cards with some version of shader tech,i think version 1.0 is at least 8 years ago.I play this game on a 2PC's ,one is around 8 years old but still plays the game decent enough. It will lag sort of bad in highly populated areas.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Thats what it says on the back of world in conflict too, but my laptop plays that fine.

Also, my laptop has limitations, i cannot replace the graphics card because of the cooling system (it sucks basically) and i have had problems playing many games that i easily reached the recommended requirements for (such as command and conquer generals and civilisation IV, which arn't particularly demanding either).

I downloaded the benchmark and ran it. It runs smoothly, but it is not full screen. It is just a small square in the centre of the screen. I guess that means i can't play it then
