People are always saying that they quit playing WOW, such as myself, and I thought it might be fun to create a thread about things good (and maybe bad) that have happened in your gaming or real life since you quit playing WOW. Make up something funny if nothing's changed, and keep it light, I'm not trying to start a "bash WOW thread". In my own case:
1) I was promoted to Vice President ; as opposed to being caught sleeping in my chair at 5:30 pm and being told to go home...good thing they thought it was from over-work.
2) I finally obtained my Professional Project Manager's (PMP) certification (I am now a PiMP) (only took me like, 5 years to get it done)
3) I played Vanguard...
4) I played LotRO
5) I played EVE
6) My wife didn't leave me
7) I get lots more sleep these days; fell asleep in my recliner at 9:00 pm last night and no one died, not even me.
8) Got me a couple of new young girlfriends to spend time with. (OK, I'm a MMORPG gamer, we all know this is a total lie)
All in good fun folks.

If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

World of Warcraft is a proof that MMORPG quality should affect schedule/budget and not the other way around.
Started hanging out with my friends more.
I got AIDS.
I took the $15 per month I have saved since last November and went to the bank and had them all exchanged for pennies. I then spread all the pennies out in my bed and rolled naked in them. Beats grinding any day of the week.
MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S
That scares me a little.
Ive been leveling my piano and guitar skills.
The real question should be: what prevented you from doing all those things while you played WoW?

Oh, cruel fate, to be thusly boned. Ask not for whom the bone bones. It bones for thee.
Simple. WoW.
--------------------------------------
A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"
Order of the White Border.
So you're saying you let a game dictate your life?

In case you haven't noticed, some people get addicted to MMOs. The OP is implying that WoW does this to a greater extent than other games, so that's why he started the thread. Lighten up.

C'mon now, most people argue that WoW did nothing but burrow from other games. If that's the case, then WoW is no more addictive than any other. Besides the point is silly, if you're allowing a game to dictate your life chances are you've got other issues to deal with.
People need to get over themselves when they blame WoW, or any game for that matter, for their woes.

WoW borrowed the better things from other games, polished it, made it easy and fun so even a person with 1 hour can get something done, and made it cheap. You might support the opinion that people who are addicted to MMOs are sad, but there are people out there. Most people don't let any game "dictate" their life, it's just games like WoW, especially when raiding at 70 comes, take up alot of time on their own and if you want to play it to the full extent you need to invest some time.And no ones blaming WoW, they're just saying things that they accomplished since they moved on lol.

The thread's implication is that WoW prevented the listed accomplishments. I asked why, and you responded with 'addiction'.

The OP said this isn't meant to be a "WoW Bashing thread" but it's an implication, right. We're on the same page. Good

1. Started playing Oblivion
2. Kept it up for a few hours a week for a few months
3. Realized I was grinding alone in my apartment instead of online with other people
Things I've done since I quit playing WoW:
I became an mmorpg.com addict.
Earning money working somewhere I enjoy.
Currently vying for a promotion.
Addictive personalities are to blame. Not the game ;-)
People say one thing and imply another all the time.

Took a week long vacation with wife and daughter. Then back to work !
Come back to Vanguard and enjoyed MMO genre again.
Where themepark games try to hide that they are copying WOW, games like Mortal Online and Darkfall make no attempt to hide their inspiration

I starting college course's. Getting my bachelor's in Game Software Development. I have gotten engaged. I have tried several game outs. Tabula Rasa, Vanguard, Eve, LotRO and some f2p games. I have beta tested a few games the one that was supposed to be big was PotBS. I have had some disappointment but I will never go back to WoW! I will wait however long it takes for a game that I enjoy to come out. So in my spare time I am working on little fun projects for programming. I have recently started doing 2D games, once I am good at that I will step it up to 3D games.
I haven't stopped playing WoW because I know if I did I'd just find some other game to play or spend a lot more time watching TV which I think was worse for me then when I'm playing video games. At least when I'm playing video games I can't be eating chips and dip and drinking beer.
When I stopped I wrote a letter to Blizzard asking them why they created the most stupid MMO ever.
1 -> Saw the outside world. Found it scary.
2 -> Played lots of old singleplayer games again.
3 -> Bought Orange Box and had ALOT of fun with it.
4 -> Partied with friends.
5 -> Worked out more than 1 hour a week.
6 -> Resubbed to some old mmo-loves.
7 -> Found I live in a bloody dark cave(Literally. I got usually only 2 lights on and I live in a basement apartment. Moving to a new place soon though.)
8 -> Found this G.I.R.L. thing everyone was talking about quite intriguing.
9 -> Grown a goatee.
10 -> Spent way too much time at mmorpg.com.
...and so on. Allthough I did all this before and when I played WoW, the game just take up so much time when you are a raider. And as a last note, if you take this serious I cant help you, noone can.
