Buying AOC is like going back in time and buying a ticket for

the titanic

I don't know how any experienced MMO player can honestly say this game is going to survive past the first month with any more than 100k subs.

Most people will complain on the forums and in-game, say they aren't renewing, spam vanguard 2.0.

We all know it. If you've played addictive MMO's, you know this one will not be addictive. It will just be "oh this buggy piece of ****" every 5 minutes all over your ventrilo/ts/whatever.

AND MY GOD IS THE PVP BORING! No risk... no balls. no rush!

See you all in a month when every mmo forum post that bears the word AOC is followed by someone quoting saying "lol aoc".

Well the fact this game has about 600k people applying for beta and probably even more fans (I estimate around 800k), no, this game is not going to die. It may suck but the fanbase is too large.

Sorry OP, I think you have it wrong. You obviously yearn for games of "yesteryear". but AoC is pretty good. There are issues, but to be honest, the issues that many suffered I did not. Ran fine. No issues. There are some sloppy things like when the camera frames the person you are talking to and your character, it sometimes is in the wrong place and blocks someone. Still, it's fun.

I think it will have a good following. And I'm sorry but the things that you mention as being a failure, others just don't care about. So they are really a non-issue to many.

so, no "balls to the wall pvp"? Well, if players don't care about that then it suddenly is a non issue no? The real issue and test is whether or not they can fix some of the performance issues.

Other than that I can see many playing it.

"AND MY GOD IS THE PVP BORING! No risk... no balls. no rush!"

Not sure if you enough sense to know that you contradict yourself.  You say it won't be addictive like other amazing MMOs, and then state that the pvp is boring because it has no risk.  WoW has the most subscriptions out of any MMO and the pvp on there has NO risk at all.  Oh good lord, you have to walk back to your body as a ghost.  Not to mention that you gain and lose PvP experience through dying/killing other players in AoC. I think risking your PvP experience would be a risk.. There will only be a percentage of the population able to be the top PvP lvl at a time, so your always risking that kill/death ratio-esque experience...

I think what's going to happen is many griefers and Warhammer fanboys will spam MMO forums with negative feedback about AoC to try to prevent people from even trying it, and I bet it works.  It will keep the starting subscriptions down, but after the game comes out at release, there will be real information to put on forums and people will see its true colors.

OP, are you crazy?  I'm no fanbois I can assure you AoC won't die.  Matter of fact, Funcom won't let it die.  Even if it only has 100,000 concurrent subscribers after the first month it will be a success.  That is $1,500,000 more a month in revenue than they had before.  I'm betting this game ends up with 150,000-300,000 concurrent subscribers  and will be an amazing succuss for Funcom.  No game needs WoW like numbers to considered a success.

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

You make a good point.  A game like WoW grows to that size, and the more subscribers means more jobs that need to be paid for at Blizzard.  Small MMOs have less need for vast amounts of customer service and huge server fees, so they can keep going without having a few million subscribers.

I just went in and paid for my preorder today and picked up my card aswell. I think this game a month in will be running smoothly (90-120fps) on appropriate settings for i'm gonna say 90% of the systems that meet minimum specs to recommended specs, not to mention the oblivion graphics always make up for a little framerate, and if the pve at mid-higher levels is as good as they say it is, then the pvp doesn't need to be fast paced rushes or wow-style pvp instance setups.

I think this game is going to do great, Of course that's my opinion.

"Sometimes, things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. People are basically good. Honor, courage, virtue mean everything. Power and money, money and power mean nothing. Good always triumphs over evil. Love, True Love Never Dies."

A game of this size, with these better graphics..yeah you cant expect it to have a perfect launch. But personally i think this game will do fine on its own. Whats stupid is everyone whos bashing it now is totally blind to realize that 1: It was a beta...key word there. 2: It was a beta client as well...NOT going to be the same one that will be shipping to stores. And finally 3: Whats the purpose of a beta??...anyone?.....anyone??? Its to collect the data to see how everything worked on a global scale. Now they have all they need to fix the problems that you all had in the OB. So why complain when you did the launch a service? You dont know what the final release product will be like...none of us do. So just wait till it comes out...play for the first month...if no changes have been made or WONT be made, then unsub and move on....its not that hard.

Oh look its another post by Baseline with AoC and Vanguard in the same post. That must make close to 30 similar posts of the last quarter now.

I dont know how you can honestly keep posting this crap. Seriously.

Cant wait for the game to come out and for you to move on.

The only person who spams the word Vanguard in a bad way is yourself and ANYONE can see that from your post history. Its like an obsession for you.

Do you want to know whats really funny? I think your addicted to this game and you havent even played it!

I agree it's wrong to compare the two, Vanguard is a pretty good game.

I may be a fanbois but I wasn't whining, I think it was more of a prediction. But don't get uptight I'm sure AoC will fail and no-one will desert your guild in RFO.

I think people are over estimating a 800k subscriber base. The minimum requirements are too high, the loading is quite annoying and the game offers nothing substantial over games that are already released. However, the game does have the Conan IP and that alone might garner a good amount of subs. I am guessing they will peak at about 500k active subs.

Wow. Just woke up and read all the whine *sips*

Ive never understood why some people NEED to bash the new games.

It's like it's their game. Nothing is good enough for them so they troll and hate other games. Sure, no game ive ever played has measured up to what i really want. Aoc gets damn close though.

I giggled at that no death penalty. Considering i had death penalty 1 and 2. Dunno how long it was but damn. It ate alot of your stats :<

So the death penalty is the same if you get killed by a player as well as the npc's?  I never got killed by a player so I don't know.   Didn't bother with the pvp side of the game.

This website is a safe haven for trolls and haters. I'm done with this pathetic site.

Considering the open pvp FFA mayhem was my 1232190832deaths due to issues from my side. No, you don't get penalty from dying of a player. I'd like if they added that part though.

Even if people have come up with numerous complaints with AoC's beta, it's has still been the best for me. I've had no problems at all and the game has been just awesome in every possible way. Graphics, quests, performance and gameplay has all been just great and the game wipes *ss with all the other mmorpgs currently on the market and the ones coming out in near future.

I'm sorry if you feel like doing Titanic all over again, but it's just your opinion. You are entitled to express your feelings about the game, just as I did.
