Best release of 2008? Don't make me laugh, it's not even released. Gamengame isn't a publisher, it's a temporary host anyway, if they don't find a real publisher, the game will go down.

Now the game itself is another generic korean grinder, with one of the worst english translation I've seen.

    Don't bother.

After seeing the butcher job they've done on the english language with their website, I'm afraid to know how bad it is ingame.

And I'm sorry, but whoever told them that steampunk was just adding some locomotives and rifles to a regular hack and slash Korean kiddie-graphics grinder REALLY has no business in the industry.

Iv been playing it since yesterday. It's a decent game, but i just don't find that it's holding me all that much, not yet anyway.

From what i have seen so far it's like most other games just in a slighty different setting, although i dont feel that the setting is steampunk atall, infact i would say it reminds me alot more of an RF Online type of setting more than anything.

Still its' worth a try. I'm quite enjoying it, don't think i would ever end up playing it long term though. On a good note, it isn't to grindy and there are alot of quests to do.

    u must be kidding.

thats just another asia crap mmo

The website is terrible with Engrish but in game its not so bad.

I was intriqued by the proposed setting and artwork so I played it but uninstalled after a couple days.

The first 10 levels start off very nice but it eventually becomes a grinder. There are plenty of quests but finding them and then actually doing them is a chore. Your character's run speed is very slow and the quests get progressively further and further out like nearly all Korean grinder MMOs. Some quests would teleport you out to where the quest was but not many.

Also, at level 20 I found no useable armor. I guess you're supposed to craft all of it. Having a good crafting system in place and encouraging it's use is fine but to force players to do it or go naked through the game is unacceptable.

I didnt think it was bad but not something I was willing to see if it got better or good at higher levels.

well i still playing the game right now im lvl 34 and actually im still going on and the game is sold already they are just doing cbt though gng, crafting is one of the best features of the game which u'll need eventually if u want to have good items, the pvp is complex nation vs nation which u'll get items from their guards and from ppl too which will help u upgrading items etc so far im doing quests still some still give me 20% exp they took a while and can be far from u but u can go anywhere at the map which steam ballon, i recommend this game and its grind fest only if u want because theres a lot of quests so far i have around 20 quests to do in my pocket and still getting more when i pass near of some npc's x.x

it looks like a decent game to me although I am afraid this just be one of those many asian grinders. Only if you take a look at those graphics the game looks like a grinder. The game has a decent races->jobs->skills system if I just look at it but I don't think that will be enough to to take label: Grindfest off of this game.

The games doesn't really features something really new to the mmorpg genre.

Well, the class system has some nice variations, but nothing new. Graphics are average at best.  New setting old grind.

Not too bad, though nothing new... BUT if they would make this game a fast-paced one (I'm talking about click->new click and it actually would react to new click right away and not in two seconds... not lag, it's really like that) and polished skills for classes, it could turn out to be a decent PvP MMORPG. Oh, and they need a new world builder, because the one that did the job, really used a "randomize" button and that's that. All in all, a low-budget F2P MMO with better than your average Korean MMO mechanics etc. Imo worth a try if you're bored and need something new for a week.

    Cheers.

I dunno, I'm playin' it and it strikes me as fun.  One thing that sets it apart is that there's a crafting system.  That's pretty much unheard of in these asian freebie games.  Hell, most p2p games are startin' to leave this out too.

Graphics engine is dated, but that's about right, since the game first came out in Asia in 2004.  What they've DONE with the engine looks very good.  It's very distinctive looking and stylish.

I dunno what people think "steam punk" is, but it ain't "cyber-punk" if that's what they were expecting.  Think of an online version of Arcanum in setting.

Lotta quests for PvE people ilke me, and a nearly non-stop stream of PvP "events".  This is actually my biggest bitch with the game.  The GM's are HORRIBLE.  They show up to start a pvp event then when it's over they disappear until the next one.  I have yet to see a GM answer a question or help a player in any way.  In fact the GM's participate in the PvP, butchering regular players left and right.  So wrong in so many ways.  And the game's entirely click-to-move, so I haven't a clue how ANYBODY can pvp like that.

Interesting travel system.  There''s a subway for the major cities, and "steam balloons" for commuter traffic.  Those work like the griffins in WoW.  There's also mechanical mounts.  The "steam rider" which is purely for locomotion, then you can upgrade that to a "mine rider" that you can also use to mine materials.  Has an auction house thank god.

Additionally, there's a "crafter" class that can make steam-powered mechs and siege weapons, tho those aren't implemented yet.  You get a little preview of it during a couple missions that require you to use one.

Each base class branches at lvl 10.  Mages can become "rune casters" that are your pure nuke/debuff types or a "god caller" which is like a summoner that can summon mechanical pets.  There's another class that "tames" so you can tame mobs you see in the environment.

Overall it's pretty sophisticated for an Asian freebie game.  More fun that most too, imho.  It's a bit of a "lightweight" role-playing game tho.  Overall I still like Shaiya better, cuz that's more of a serious RPG, but NeoSteam's got a few laughs in it too.

Alot of asian games have crafting , so saying it is unheard of just shows your lack of experience.

Your juvenile attempts to provoke me won't work. I know a troll when I see one.

Although Airspell is a troll. I have to say that alot of F2P mmos have crafting in them and they have for along time already.

Actually it is a grindfest game, it has a lot of quest to be able to enjoy the game. Unfortunately it is a good game but we dont know what are the people's wants when it comes in a grindfest game. Ofcourse we like some actions, like PVP and Siege War. That's the important thing.

  • AirspellAirspell Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 1,391

Didn't know stating the obvious is considerered trolling these days.  The internets have really gone downhill lately, I blame political correctness.  Whoever doesn't agree with you must be a troll I guess.

Yep, it's back up. Tho only till the 11th. The "Rearland" pvp map is open now, as well as a couple new higher-level dungeons. For anybody that played the last beta, characters have NOT been wiped yet, so you can pick up right where you left off. They're not gonna wipe till "open beta". Kinda silly to call it closed cuz you just have to register and download, but there it is.
  • traquenatraquena Member Posts: 298

Indeed guys... I'm currently in rear land grinding(erm... pking other nations)... You should give this game a shot too
