Just wow...wow....I am speechless. I dunno how you guys and girls pulled it off, but the game is so awesome. I know there were some serious doubts if you could pull some magic out of your hat in CB and later with OB and I haveto tell you....you guys are amazing. The graphics are so rich and detailed, the animations and such are without a doubt some of the best in any game to date. I am amazed at the load screen times now...that was the number one concern I had was load times and you guy came through in a huge way!
This game screams of Epicness...it really makes you feel like you are a part ofthe world. The stories.
Thank you.
Thank you for bringing Hyboria to life. I remember me and some other discussing an MMORPG based on Hyboria over 4 years ago on the VN boards...and today we are able to thanks to you. You did Howard's writings justice! The very fact that you kept it mature in nature and brought the harsh reality that was the world Conan lived in to us is just...awesome...I am speechless.
KUDOS FUNCOM!
Now take a vacation guys and girls...you earned it!
My character at 20. - early access.
Another really cool image after she slayed the Demon Bat on the temple.

Hm.. Just tossing out a question .. Is there more open space later on ?
Right now it is spawn rape. And if you get away from the spawn area they will always find you.
Level 10 atm, mixed emotions for me
The graphics are so far the only thing making me want to get it... I tried out open-beta just to check out the char-gen, and Im liking that alot.
I wonder what sort of killer-rig you need to have just to play it without having the graphics setting lowered down to "Blurry Amorphous Blob"...
I love the game as well, even though servers have been brought down at an inopportune time... but that's fine. Celtics game is on very soon anyways.
The game looks amazing and has been running flawlessly for me on my mid-range laptop. People were joking about there never being the "miracle patch" to make the game perfect, but it seems Funcom definitely had one up their sleeves.
EXCELLENT job Funcom!
One note on the OP though... don't tell them to go on vacation just yet, lol. Wait until we see how servers are on release before we let them sleep for the first time in two months :P.
Switch over to a PvE server. The PvP servers are a gankfest and will remain that way.

runs at medium-high settings (if you want specifics, find one of my other posts), good playable frame rates.
You do NOT need an uber machine to run it, and it's beautiful.
I remember back in 1999, folks kept asking me if I was stockpiling food. I always answered, "No, I'm stockpiling ammo and making a list of people who are stockpiling food"
OP.....Ditto.....I am stunned to find out how FUN and solid the game is ..so far.Hats off to FUNCOM !!
LOL, I was thinking the same. No vaction yet. Perhaps in five or six months
But I can imagine how tired the staff at funcom must be. Probably working 20 hours per day for the last month.
Hopefully that helped. The game looks very good like this, and that's without DX10 being available in game yet.
(No I'm not some random Funcom fanboy, just trying to give you some advice :P).
I'm enjoying it as well. When I first played the open beta it was kinda odd playing this game as it took me a little while to get use to the graphics coming from lotro. The graphics are really good just different is all i'm saying. I think a lot of people had questions on if the servers could hold up or not and i'm glad to see the servers are running stable.

I was wondering the same thing. At first I thought they were just taking it easy and going to let the game be terrible at launch, but the improvement that I've seen is amazing. But I can imagine how tired the staff at funcom must be. Probably working 20 hours per day for the last month.
I definitely think they did an awesome job in the end. Clutch performance! (sorry, been watching the NBA playoffs all week :P)
Ah, well thats good. Ive got a pcie card 250meg of ram.... 3gigs of system ram... blah blah. I can run lotro and eq2 rather smoothly.
Im still hesitant about getting it now, as opposed to waiting a month for all the leet-kiddies and gankers to get their fill of jollies. And for all the start-up bugs that seem to plague new mmos.
There are open areas after Tortage. The main areas are very huge zones, but every class can hide. On a PVP server it would be wise to keep hide maxed out and use it often. I haven't gotten spawn camped, or ganked even too much but I got out of Tortage fast.
@ Teala: I feel the same way!!! My wife can barely pull me away from the PC, but yeah great job Funcom. I ran the client for 20 hours straight (6 were in the login screen), but with no crashes whatsoever. I am having a blast though!
The PvP server isn't for everyone. You'll be down to your last HP and some assassin will jump you from behind at any given moment. I was fighting like 4 mobs and this lowly level 9 jumps me after I had finished and I was level 16! He killed me in like 4 hits. I just went back and killed him. That is life on a PvP server. Comes with the territory.
Yes...to answer your question....eventually people will spread out and you'll have less ganking as the game matures. So take that to heart. ^_^
Many thanks, will give it a few more tries.
Amen Teala, spoken truly enough, i have found it to be not as bad as i thought it would be, theres a few asshats guilds on DW but not as bad as OB last day was lol! i had a blast! best advice... make friends fast and run as a grp... If u want/need guild look me up names Repent on deathwisper
yes thank you so much funcom!!! I really love the game and will continue playing it.
Looking forward to few years of enjoyment with AoC!!
Yep...try to get with a group. If not do what I did and pair up with some unsuspecting guy. LOL I was stuck to him for like 4 hrs. Where he went I went. I helped him and he helped me. Don't remember his name though...wish I did. We weren't grouped....I just sorta hung back and protected his back you can say. Rangers are good in that way. ^_^
Those areas that allow PvP in 5-20 at Tortage are instanced. This means that is very likely that more than one version of that instance is running already. You can change the instance on the fly. The button is a small triangle near your minimap.
You can use this method at White Sands Isle, Underhalls and Acheronian Ruins. The Ruins is not a PvP zone tho.
The second method to avoid ganking is to find more than one spawn spot on that zone. When you have two or more of them you can choose where to spawn.

hmm got to wonder if OP is paid plant considering has written review with same things before in another thread. The game is good but as i said there lot of issues that are still question mark (content 20+, not much substance to the gameplay, not much uniqueness when it comes to mobs, how good is crafting?, instances are supposedly heavily bugged people are just running in killing the boss and running out etc). Which you do not go much into.
The game is freakin insane....I love it. I get around 85 fps and I never seen graphics so dang good before. I love being in control of my attacks. Funcom did an outstanding job. I'm on PVE since I don't like FFA PvP, and i'm having a blast. This game blows anythign I played away. Kudos Funcom!
What can I say? SMOOTH RELEASE, GG FUNCOM
HAHA, A paid plant..it's not even released yet. You just expect everything handed to you soon as it is released? Man I can't believe some of the morons on here. This game is awesome. If ya don't think so, then go play Knights Online or WoW. Finally an MMO that requires skill and not point and click with cookie cutter builds.
I haven't written a review yet. I won't until I have played the game to like level 40. The way I did with Vanguard. I was honest and upfront with my Vanguard review and I'll do the same with AoC. Does AoC have issues? Yep. is the game perfect? Ummm....not even. It is missing some things I really, really want to see added for RP purposes. Plus I am not fond of instancing....at all. However....I think Funcom has done this game right the way they did it and it works.
The game runs so beautifully...it makes games like Vanguard seem archiac! The ammount of poly's in the characters is unreal and to have it play as smoothly as it does and I am running in 1920x1200 res with full shadows and high textures...and....and...OMG...it is a sight to behold on my 24' monitor. Just beautiful!
Animations are so well done. Puts all other games in this genre to shame.
OK enough all ready....I'll do my review in about 2 months. I have to go catch a plane. You guys have fun playing. IfI am lucky I''ll get some play time on my laptop. CYA!
I join the thanks to Funcom for this game. Plays great, looks better and does all the little thing that I could wish for.
It's so different to read those good few "Thank you/Great Job" threads about AoC as opposed to "Why we hate SOE" ones lol
But I gonna say Funcom seems to be doing soo much better job!
Long life AoC!
Regards,
adolf

Thats the point of a review its not suck up to Funcom This game does not require much skills as they make it out to be(especially if you have g15). i found switching between classes pretty easy just memorize which combos go when and drag drop it to your toolbar. Maybe that will change 30+
