There is a sticky on this page saying that only people who bought the Early Access can log into the new offical AoC forums.
From what I understand, the new official forums are now split into EU and US at the following links respectively:
http://forums-eu.ageofconan.com/
http://forums-us.ageofconan.com/
Everyone who has preordered the game should be able to access the new forums through the forum login created on their account page.
However, US players will not have access to EU forums and vice versa.

How about people who have their retail key? If I register it, can I access the forums?
and if you are not a subscriber you cannot even log in to read them it looks like. For a fence sitter like myself that is a real red flag. It is not like I can't find out what is happening by talking to friends and getting info from other boards where I trust the members. But still it would be nice to read the official forums and at least get a feel for the community and any hardware issues before shelling out 50 skins.
I can understand if they only want subscribers to be able to post but seems as if they are trying to hide issues by keeping non subscribers from reading them.

My guess would be that people who register their retail key also can update their forum login from the account page. Although, I am not able to test or confirm this myself.
I just went out and registered my key, can't access the forums yet.
It could also be the case that seeing as the old forum got bogged down with people visiting it either as subscribers or not, then they're just keeping it to registers people so the thing doesn't come crashing down.
I can see your point about the red flag though - I havn't received my preorder code yet ( will be starting on 23rd ) so am relying mainly what's filtering through to here to get any news on how EA is going.
I'm sure if there were some serious major league problems then word would have got out by now. Perhaps someone with forum access could shed some light on whats being discussed on there
There isn't really anything shady about not allowing people to read the forums. Yes, I can definitely understand that it must be hard not to be able to have the official forums as a resource for those of you on the fence.
However, for those of us in the early access, the forums have improved SO much. Keeping all the random trolls and doomsayers away makes the discussions a lot better. No, they are not perfect, but there is a vast improvement in the quality of threads.
Just don't take this as a sign that they are trying to hide anything. The game runs so much better than it did in the beta that it is amazing. From my experiences, there is ZERO lag and so far, zero crashes (although that should be a given... crashes in a retail product are unacceptable), and very few gameplay stutters (although that's due to my 1.66 ghz dual core processor and not the game).
Anyways, this is a vast improvement for the official forums, and while I understand how it's tough for you guys who can't read them, just know that the forums are much better by limiting the people able to post, and you'll see that if you choose to subscribe to the game.
I do agree, however, that it is weird that you guys can't even READ the posts. That's too bad... but only 2 days left and you can!
I've merged both of our topics and stickied it for further discussion. :-)
From my understanding it's completely EA only and whoever, preordered or not, tries to make an account you cannot get in. I'm a preorder and I can't get my little fingers into that forum no matter what I try!
That really shows. And judging by the official boards, the EA-launch seems to have been quite smooth for most players. The only thing people still seem to complain a lot about is not having gotten into the EA.
just wondering is the release date all according to u.s time? im from australia and would like to play it at launch so does that mean it will be the 23rd for me?
A thread on the EU forums states that user names and passwords from the old forums won't work anymore, that the forum name is linked to the game account and that it is not possible (anymore) to have multiple forum accounts.
It would be rather amusing now if I should discover that I actually have EA. But my purchase history is empty so I guess that is not the case.
Thanks for the info and just for the record I wish all developers would limit the ability to be able to post to paying subscribers with the exception of a non subscriber section for questions. All I want to do is browse the technical support area in order to find out if the freezing problem that affected some of us in beta has been solved.

You can access the forums via retail key. I just got in right now.
I preordered and am in EA but haven't been able to get in forums since last evening. Keeps saying wrong name or password. Does it on mine and wifes accounts.
This sucks. The first thing I do when a new game is about to launch is to get into the official forums and check the threads to see whether there are any issues with the game. The first set of threads surely give you a good idea about the quality of the game.
Does that mean that my kickass veteran 2005 account is deleted?
If so, Funcom can eat shit.
So u actually need to buy the game in order to access the official forums? Talk about lame. Hope they change that after launch.
Mythic did this to me Twice... However, i still have vet status. It just sad that I can't flex my day one sign-up.

I can confirm that the updating forum info on the account registration area worked for me. I had to wait about 15 mins but it finally autheticated and let me in the forums. Also Note I had a retail key entered into my account

I found this abit upsetting since I've been participating (aka spamming) those forums for a year now, then one day they take them away without any warning.
oh well the games coming out so I can't complain.... much.
My blog:
This was definitely done to stop us seeing all the people with technical problems. The servers not working etc. etc. Plus all the "its rubbish" posts that a big title MMO always gets spammed with.
Hi guys,
I have a beta account, and also had a forum account since like the end of 06.
I can't log intot he forums either, it doesn't accept the same user/pass I have been using for some time now. If I go to reset the account, it says it doesn't recognize my email address. Any idea?
Also, if I try and log into reigtser.ageofconan.com it doesn't recoginize my funcom account, tho it is recognized at betaregister.ageofconan.com
Will I have to make a brand new account?? If I try and enter my retail key where it says "add a key" while logged into my beta account via above mentioned betaregister page will it then allow me to access my account via register.ageofconan.com? I don't see why there should need to be two seperate accounts. I do not want to have to change my selected accoutn name.
Thanks
I am an early access, and still can not seem to log in..
I had EA, converted it to retail and can get in the game, but I still can't get on the forums. These monkeys have no idea what they are doing. When the only support you provide is through e-mail (two day response) or forums, you darn well should allow at least read-only access to the forums. How stupid can you be? I defy anyone to find a phone number for Funcom in North America, btw.
HAd early access key ( i did access the forums then)
Added retail key this morning and setup the account with cc details + subscription plan
When i try to log in forums it 1st says logged in and bring ups the page no authencication , activate retail key crap page
