How do I stop prgrams from starting on startup?

Just wondering what I do to stop programs on startup.

I used to know but forgot, MS____? Type something like that in run?

    i can always remember msconfig unless i need to fix something then i always forget it

    only run commands i ever use are dxdiag, cmd, and msconfig, all others shall die
