3 back to back to back blue screens o' death about 5 mins into AoC....played for about 20hrs straight in EA with no crashes...happening to anyone else??
It freaked me out lol, never seen that with my new build. But within 2 minutes of logging in I had a blue screen crash dump message and had to reboot. Great fix funcom! Way to take down the servers for 7 hours and not test your new version? I saw in the patch notes they took out the "Spawn killing" though, if they get this fixed that will be nice.
What's causing the crash is contained on the BSOD. Simply take note of the correct info on the BSOD then go to the Microsoft knowledge base and enter the the correct info that was on the BSOD and you'll likely find out the details of what caused the Pc to BSOD. If it's driver related most times you don't even need to go to the knowledge base for info as you can make out the driver it's referring to on the BSOD itself.
There are already a hojillion posts on this on both the General & Technical forums. I believe all of the setups are multi-core, a majority of them are AMDs with nVidia 8800 flavour cards. There have been a handful that don't fit that bill, but...it's definitely raging atm.
I scanned through the official forums and there's literally hundreds of posts about it already, apperently it is ALL AMD dual-core processors. Have not seen a intel one reported yet. Nothing to do with drivers, I have the latest. So much for playing tonight, gah and a good launch. Sad right before launch in a few hours this happens(good luck tomorrow people).

jesus, guess there goes my first day of play out the window. i use amd.
If its the multicore that crashes, maybe restrict the game to one core? No idea if that helps, but its worth a shot
This only extends the time before lockup. I was able to set it to one core and lasted approximately 15 minutes before crashing & burning (and others have well).
Vista/XP doesn't seem to be an issue.
Core: a majority of the problems are with multi-core processors
AMD + nVidia = hard lockups mostly (forced reboot to get out of Dodge)
They've acknowledged they know that there is a problem, and are looking into it. Can't find it, it doesn't appear to be stickied but one of the forum mods (I believe) posted it.
Keep your fingers crossed, it's bound to be a bumpy night:)
Actually I found a temporary fix, I lowered my shader to 2.0(found this on the official forum) and have been playing with no issues for the last 40 minutes.
This is REALLY bad. we caught this problem in test live, and they pushed it live anyway....wtf?? To clarify: this issue was found to effect AMD multi-cores. I would hope that there is a patch roll-back..if not....OMG.....
yeah...rollback or some people are going to be majorly pissed come noon edt, including myself.

I don't understand wtf they are thinking! It must have been a mistake....there is no way any rational person would have pushed this build out.
think they are pressed for time since we are all getting more and more pissed off as hours of the 20th tick away
pressed for time is not an excuse. I love AOC, I want it to do well....Funcom KNEW that there were severe issues with this build, why even patch up to it??
Comments
I just crashed out twice in a row, within minutes of logging on...bummer.
Had no problems all weekend, played quite a bit also.
soooo close to 26! =(
Im getting BSODs too. There are tons of reports of this on the official forums.
*whew* it must be the servers
now thats a problem that needs ironing STAT!!
Also getting tons of BSODs...
Seems we were better off before the patch.

its funny cause before this last server outage it was running perfectly on my geforce/amd duel core
how in the hell do they fuck with the coding that bad in 6hr...and just before launch day
haha, someone at the office is getting a muffin basket at the end of the day

Leemeg.
I read some people with single-cores are crashing as well, and some people have tried using affinity to lower it to one-core.. not helping .

They just announced that servers are coming down for 3 hours:)
Meh... they fucked up, but AFAIK they are aware of it, and I'd wager there is a fix out today.
yeah, as I said in another post...I bet someone in FC gets fired over this.
