It really boggles my mind how so many people like to complain about an MMO having bugs/hitches at launch.
It's understandable if month's later little to no progress is made (Vanguard) but come on! Seriously!
For all you Trolls I have a challange.
Please name 1 MMORPG that was bug/hitch free at launch?
If you can't answer this question please don't respond to this thread...

Its one thing to have bugs, its another to not have promised content in the game.
Like WoW? EQ2? VSOH? Tabula Rasa? I think the only one that didn't suffer this is LOTRO, and kudos for Turbine for knowing better and limiting scope to something that was manageable.
LOTRO and Guild Wars would be the smoothest launches - both solid MMOs that still rank on top - no major disappointment nor "backlash" about either of them even now.
can't vouch for lotro, but guildwars was rock solid.
Anarchy Online.
LOTRO best mmo launch ever!!!
Others mistakes in the past don't justify one's mistakes. Otherwise, nothing would ever improve
Which is exactly why they chose to release the game this early.
Because they know they can pull a shitload of cash and use it to finish the game.
As they say with every damn game out there.
I like AoC and am happy with it.
More than I was with EQII and WoW.
I would say alot of the problems are simply unrealistic expectations. There will always be exagerations from a companies perspective stretching reality as far as it can be without actualy being sued, this partly comes from within as all of them gee each other up, i could hardly imagine being in the directors meeting at Funcom listening to them telling each other how shit their product is. Time will be the test of this game like all before it. One week after launch is not the time to be making sweeping statements on the success or faliure of a game.....and really success can only be studied financialy, because wheather the game is any good or not will always lie in the eye of the beholder.

LOTRO did have the smoothest launch i have ever seen....and i have seen my fair share
So? How does "everyone else make bugged games" absolves funcom? If they have any pretense to be better than the competitors, then they should do stuff that competitors don't do. Like releasing finished games.
Otherwise, they're just settling for mediocrity. That's what all the video game industry is doing, too.
It's like when you complain to a microsoft fanboy that the (usually rather expensive compared to a lot of their competitors) latest version of some of their product don't do X and Y and they go "well name a product that does this", basically using their competitors lack of innovation as an excuse for their own.
bugs is one thing, hitches another... but no ETA on battle keeps because there is no level two or three player cities yet is BROKEN. Battle keeps were a promised launched feature that even today the devs swear are in game. Unfortunately, players can't prove or disprove Funcom on this because required player city content to get to battle keeps isn't in the game yet. Game is BROKEN as advertised.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
LoTRO was only smooth because they didn't promise much of anything and other than raiding and lore they still lack anything, especially innovative. AoC is a beast that can only be compared to DDO in the area of combat, and in launch comparison AoC has bested it ten fold. There are bugs, yes. Are they total game breakers? Not to me. I am still confused as to what content isn't there that is supposed to be? Sieges? Already had one on my server. Raids? Other than Ebonlore who the hell has a full group of 80's? Crafting? Somewhat, because of traders. However, they need to fix the exploits in them to prevent whatever the koreans throw at it. It's not like they're having trouble getting servers populated, my server has a queue every night. It's STILL growing in subscription base. Largely the trolls are the people sitting on the fence looking for a reason to go back to WoW or GW so they don't have to start over again as a newb with no epeen.
What are you talking about seiging? There are no player two or player three player stage cities yet, so there can't be any battle keep seiges. Did someone take a tower in the the border kingdoms and another guild fought for it? Also, exploit allowed for a player city to get burned down on one server, so Funcom had to fix that issue. So exactly, please explain this "seige" that you said took place.

Bug free? That's such a loaded question, since you'd bring up the most trivial of bugs.
The question should be "Game-breaking bugs/hitching": WoW, LOTRO, GW (although it did hitch on a workstation with < 500 ram).
I am really enjoing AoC now with all of it's bugs and the abyssmal FPS I get with a computer that only meets minimum specs.
The graphics, even from what I've seen on vids from people with ridiculous computers, are not really efficient: For what you get in terms of quality/hardware usage they're nothing special at all (a la Vanguard).
I really wish they had given players the option to scale down the graphics even more (even on lowest, the game is a vidoecard hog), since it is nearly impossible to play and listen to music, surf the web etc. while you're playing.
Yeah, yeah.. so I could upgrade my system for 100$. Pay me it, or STFU.
If performance were not an issue at all, I'd see this game getting a 9-10/10 from most people playing it, since the melee combat system is really nexgen (it's what makes the game at this point imho...although casters are still nothing special..HoX is more melee than caster) and it is loaded with content.
For all of the trolls ignoring the "challange", there are the shills issuing more of them and trolling valid complaints of the game.
This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.
LOTRO
WoW had problems because they were expecting a few hundred thousand players to show up...
and millions showed up
So because it is common practice we should just accept the fact that we are paying for broken products? If no1 notices it companies will never see the need for improvment. Or do u think companies will waste man-hours polishing a game just a sign of good will?
