Is it really a great game? I have read many good and bad things about AoC, and still can't make up my mind. I wish they had a trial, I really want to try the game without being out the $50 ... =( I know this isn't the thread for it, but if anyone does have a buddy key that they wish to share plz pm me with it!! =D
they have not released guest passes yet as far as I know. Each box comes with one but for whatever reason they have not released them for us to pass out.

Blizzard has block on posting on their forums, but doesn't block anonymous access. And that was possible for Funcom as well ... So why wasn't it done that way?
If you enjoy the game, why would you care what bad things other people say? Why would you let it bother to the point of making this kind of post? If you enjoy it, play it. If others dump on it, your still having fun. Right? Just ignore them, and enjoy AoC.

It is one of those games where you either like it a lot or dislike it, Blizzard certainly does not have to worry about this affecting Wow much. I think War will be far more of a threat to Blizzard than AoC ever will because of certainly design decisions that the developers made that are not easy to change.

I've been lurking the forums for a while and reading as much as I can. I have to say that I appreciate the negative posts. Some posts point out things that they didn't like which are the same things that I would have found. I appreciate the positive posts for the same reason, except for finding things that I specifically would like.
I always find it easier to enjoy a game if I know what problems I'm going to face before I play it. After all, I knew what I was getting into. For example, I can't stand ganking. It looks like AoC has more than its fair share. So for right now I decided to wait it out to see if I hear news of that changing before I take the plunge and replace my poor underpowered PC and now, when I do sign up, I'll be joining for the long haul rather than getting frustrated and leaving for something else.
Lastly, I think every new MMO has its fair share of negative posts right at the start. You can't please everyone and I think it's just polite to warn others when you've bought something you didn't like. If it's really a good product then it will stand on its own, and if the person has similar tastes to you, then you just might have saved them $50.
So, I say post away to everyone! The more player reviews the better All put together it's the next best thing to a free trial.

Sadly when I looked last week off a family's member computer the official boards were in worst shape than this one. (Didn't have the game at that time but do now of course)
To be honest it's the reason why I haven't created a forum account for the official boards yet and the reason I'll try to scratch out taking part in some kind of attempt at a forum here. Players have to take a stand somewhere.

It's only read-only format that potential customers are asking for, not the ability to post.
Surely the best source to make an informed decision is from those currently paying to play, who, conveniently can all be found together on the AoC official forums.
I realize that Funcom made some statement about wanting to keep the forums stable for their paying customers and while I respect that to some extent it does not speak volumes about quality of service if they have trouble keeping just the forums working.

I like the game. It has a lot of potential, as so many other games before it. Whether or not that potential is realized remains to be seen. Heck it's only been a week though, so lets give the devs at Funcom a chance. They are probably working their arses off.
