REMEMBER: This is still just a stress test... the REAL Open Beta won't happen for a few months.
With the stress test, Blizzard has limited it to 100,000 people so they know what they're expecting.
However... open beta might be a whole other problem. With that, you'll likely see 1+ million people worldwide all trying to play so that might turn out to be an even larger population problem with their servers but they might as well be prepared for that too. All they have to do is look at their track record of past games and scale the amount of servers to compare with those purchases.

The amazing thing is that people did pay to get into this Beta.... what a swindle. My wife and I got right in on Saturday after bring on the wait list for 3 minutes and people are still getting keys.
What i find amazing is that developers have found a way to get people to pay to beta test and players still do it.
This is becoming the standard thanx to NCSOFT,preorder the game(CoH or L2)and you get a GUARANTEED spot into the beta test.
The Matrix online is doing this too.(is this becoming standard practice?)
NCSOFT imho leads the genre in this type of scam.They get 10 or 12 bucks and you get to PAY to test a game that is unfinished.
If this is the way things are going to be than it just proves that its a business out to make money and not about the game itself.As it is we are seeing the same games with little difference in the way they look or play.
To get into the WoW stress test you HAVE to subscribe to gamespy right?(i could be wrong their but it seems thats the way it is).

If people can't read I wouldn't blame the developers for that. The point that it would be free to download and get into the stress test was made perfectly clear and those that waited just a few days got to take advantage of that. As the poster above, I waited til saturday, signed up and got my key minutes later....all for free.
I was able to move all the files within the zip by opening the zip, highlighting the files and dragging them to a folder on my desktop. It worked, but before I tried this I was attempting to open the zip and extract with the self extracter from within the zip and I ran into the same problem.

Yep, got into it for free. They just said they were reserving the first batch for paying customers, just a scam from FP not blizzard, Blizzard just let FP do it for the extra publicity they'd get from FP spaming it's customers. But I got into the free signups. Downloaded and unziped no problems. Got it installed just waiting for the start date.

As much as I hate to defend NCSoft, you should remember that these are preorders. The money spent on the pre-order box is deducted from the final cost of the game. At least, that's they way it worked last time I pre-ordered something. Giving away Beta slots with pre-orders is, IMHO, actually pretty cool. It's at least preferable to EA and SOE's policy of charging a monthly subscription fee for their Beta tests.

Just curious but did you bother to read the faq?
The file says it's corrupt! Or asks to insert CD # Please extract the files to a folder on your hard drive using WinZip 8.0 or higher. Then execute the installation file for the game.
Btw, if you have WinXP you can just use the built in zip extractor too. Just right lick and explore, move the files to a folder of your choosing.

I pre-ordered WoW from my local EB, and probably going to play it in the same respects I played Doom 3. Regardless, I got my spot in the stress beta this evening (EST). Hopefully WoW will live up to my expectations.
