MMORPG with Summoner class?

I'm looking for a new MMORPG that has Summoner class or something similar. With the development of Pet System, it seems the Summoner Class has become obsolete. I wonder if the Summoner Class has come to extinction. Anyway, here's the requirements:

  • Must have Summoner class that can summon different types of creatures specializing in a specific ability such as melee combat, ranged combat or healing. They don't have to be uber powerful. I just want to be a jack of all trades, like the Druid class in WoW with summons instead of shapeshifting skills.
  • Good 3D graphics, prefer DirectX9 or higher. By the way, I'm old enough to play M-rated games, so violence and nudity aren't much of a problem.
  • Must have WASD system. Point-n-Click is too old-fashioned and makes my right hand bigger than the left one.

That's all. I don't care about the story at all. Grinding is fine, as long as I can get my first summons early. Thanks in advance for any recommendation.

    Not entirely sure on this one but i have noticed Necromancers isn AoC with several different pets already and im only level 29

    Well there will be aion which have a summoner which is able to call 3 summons which also evolve during gamplay but u have to wait till it go live :P (and it has wsad movement)

    in other hands there is lineage 2 who has summoners and each summon have its own specialist (ie pure tanker/healer/damage dealer) however this game doesnt have wsad movement but im pretty sure u will enjoy this game since the graphic is on high lvl :)

    although its not new, the first thing that comes to mind is FF11. you can't start out as a summoner its an advanced class, but otherwise it fits your description perfectly.

    World of Warcraft, its warlock class works as a summoner, it has WSAD movement, and it has decent 3D graphics.



    But I quess you have played WoW already?

    i think he means summoning a bit more of an army, like Diablo 2 LOD's guy.

    Rather than just summoning one pet.

    Two games I can think of are EQ 2 and Vanguard.

    EQ 2 have Summoner/Necro classes. Has you progress you get a tank, caster and Melee DPS pets.

    Vanguard Necromancer is one of the best pet classes I've played.  You start with yor main pet and make minions (tank and DPS)out of the corpses of your defeated foes.  Has you progress through the levels you can have multiple pets out at the same time.  Also you can harvest grafts to upgrade your main pet from corpses.

    City of villains my friend. play a master mind and you can have up too 6 guys i belive.
