Is it too late to start playing? Nope. Also is there a free trial of the game that I can use to see how much I like it? Yup. Check their website for a 2 week free trial.
Never heard of steam, can you post the 3 week trial link. Also, how would I go about finding a good corp? Also are there any race selections that are good? I plan to pvp.
Play the trial to see if it's the type of game you want to play. If you do then decide to subscribe join the Eve University corp. They will help you get started and learn how to play the game and from there you can either stay with them or move onto a new corp.
Last time I downloaded the client off the website I believe it was somewhere between 600 and 700 megs. Not very big at all, in fact quite small by todays standards. The Trinity graphics update I think adds another 200 megs approx if I remember right

there are two trial. a two week one from the official website and a 3 week one with steam
no its not to late to join the game. the game is bigger than ever and new members are comming every day,
it will be a hard for first few weeks strating out in the game. it has a steep learning curv. and they do not spoon feed you.
my advise is to join a good corp(guild) asap as they help you out allot in the game

As for a good corp, visit the recruitment channel in-game I suppose. There is also the the Recruitment forum on the official site
How large is the Eve client?
