Aye, the first batch of reviews were mainly based on the starting area. Now reviews are coming out that talk about the whole game in different stages and the scores are getting lower and lower.
There are 3 types of people in the world. 1.) Those who make things happen 2.) Those who watch things happen 3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
it is fun , check it out. A buddy key is always nice to try a game first. But because so many people are playing now they arent avialable yet. Once the servers populations settle down or they add more again, they will be available, so I have read. I rated this game 8.3, and I would have to disagree with the above post, as a lvl51 Demonlogist, after I left the starting area at lvl20, the game is about 10x the fun, of course this is IMHO. Good luck on the buddy key .
Most reviews have tended to be positive, although I suspect these have been based on the early "single-player" Tortage zone. For a more in-depth review look at: http://www.yougamers.com/reviews/19142_age_of_conan_hyborian_adventures/ At this stage I too would suggest try-before-you-buy with a buddy pass.
One review that backs up your own opinion of the game isn't the tell all you make it out to be . Any review is just as accurate as any post you read on any forum . It's all based on an opinion some person wrote based on their enjoyment of a given subject . A large part of that is that individuals tolerance to annoyances caused by programming (BUGS) .Who even said the op based his opinion on something he read ? He might of simply watched a gameplay video and decided he wanted the game .

It's not just about bugs. It's about missing and incomplete game basics.
To quote his summary:
"Age of Conan might turn out to be a fair game at some future date, but we can't score a game based on future promises. As it stands now, it's incomplete, rushed and buggy, with major game systems utterly broken. Recommended only for exploit hunters and MMO fanatics that enjoy waiting for that next patch - the one that will "fix everything" - even when it never does."
Some people like AoC. Others don't. Which is why I suggested a buddy pass.
I'm in the curious position of having been sceptical of everything that was said about AoC for the past year or so and, after buying it anyway to play with friends, am finding myself enjoying it a lot more than I expected.
Sure, there are a lot of issues with it, what with all the bugs and things missing in the second half of the game, but if you're not a quest locust and enjoy taking the time to explore and follow quest lines through for the storylines it's pretty fun.
My main is level 36 after two pretty solid weekends and 2-3 hours each evening but, like I said, I've not been racing through the levels (never do in MMOs) and been taking my own time. The apparent lack of content past level 40 doesn't bother me, I'm just seeing 40 as a soft level cap. When I get there I'll start an alt and pick up the 40+ game once it gets more content.
Funcom are currently delivering 2 patches a week to address the biggest issues and, apparently, they have a good slab of content to release in the near future so the problems aren't causing me too much concern to be honest. In fact many of the problems reported by unhappy players and realistic reviews have already been addressed, although many more still remain.
My advice, don't go in with high expectations (its naive to go into any MMO at launch with high expectactions anyway) and enjoy the game for what it is. If you're more of a level racer than an explorer or storyline player then playing on a buddy code might be the best idea. By the time the buddy codes are released I daresay more of the problems will have been fixed too.
what hype? all i see here are negative posts. Theres no hype here.
well, people who enjoy the game stopped coming here, because there's no goddamn moderation at all, and the trolls were basically allowed to take over the forum.
I think it's safe to say that the people playing and enjoying the game, like the 150+ people in my guild, and myself, would rather discuss the game with others who play it, instead of argue with a bunch of trolls and shills.
ANY positive post on this forum, even a damn screenshot thread posted by fans trying to discuss the game, is immediately attacked by haters and taken off topic so far that it becomes just another damn flamewar.
TO the OP: a LOT of people enjoy the game, and IMO, and the opinion of several hundred thousand people, the game rocks.

Hi there?
You're still playing this game ?? lol
How is the lag on the button smashing? Still there? PvP strafing anyone?
Any new rules for PvP yet?
And of course the boxes STILL say siege combats ? Still not in the game. Wow.
I remember you attcked me when I stated most instances hadn't even 50 persons in it.
Now I heard it's acutally 40, with 10 places being reserved for grouping.
Nice to know you are building a city and will try to defend it in a Xth copy of a multiMASS game with .... 40 people on line in a zone.
Happy grinding the mammouths in post level 50 then.
BTW. DESPITE the massive amounts of commercials blown into the IGN.COM website, IGN had the decency to rate it at 7.8.
Any more and they would have lost all credibility.
Yaeh. Horrible game. Absolutely.
There is this quest "Showdown" though. You know the quests where the old fart is telling you that he wants to sew your stinking mouth with thread made out of the hairs growing out of his ass. Man, thats balancing a lot of the game issues

that quote perfectly mirrors my own experience....
I made a über-long posting in my thread about the various broken things in the game...
Ya it looks good but if I were you I would at the very least hold off. There are things in this game that have just made me slap myself on the forehead and say wtf. Don't get me wrong I've enjoyed parts of the game but I just can't condone what funcom has done with its advertising compared to what its released. I'll probably cancel my account.

Don't buy into the hype machine, get a buddy pass first. To say people have mixed feelings about this game is an under-statement.
