Why does AoC take forever and a day to install ? This is ridiculous. Vanguard had more to install, over 20 gigs and it took 1/4 the time its taking to install this game.

Funcom has your money now, they don't care if it works or if you're able to play....
I dunno, I found the game install to be quite fast (though it did have some errors reading the disc on three different machines and my laptop, but just hitting ignore worked...) The patching was a bit long though but nowhere near as slow as the SOE patcher.

The installation was dreadfully slow on my machine as well. I have a feeling it's my DVD-player that doesn't keep up with the rest of my system. It's strange though as it's a pretty new player. meh.. who cares anyway. DVD-players are so last century.
What can be said....the game comes in a highly compressed form on the disks. Go do something else while it installs. (IE) go upstairs and say hi to your mom.
