why in the world would you WANT to play for 16 straight hours.

There's people in the real world that are just as interesting to meet...and many relatives who love you.  Playing for 16 straight hours (if done somewhat...not just a one time thing) probably could mess you up mentally.  Not just for mmorpg...but for anything.

In the good old days i would sit happily all day playing the likes of FF, RE, GTA, etc. More recently ive wasted a lot of time power leveling on MMO's.

Easily played 16+ hours, 36+ once or twice ::::06::

Not really enjoying my gaming enough these days to play anything like that long now ::::16::

Well, I know some ppl who did 3 full days of playing just stoping to go to bathroom, but that was when D2 1.10 patch came live with ladder, and they got to first or second Hell act in those 3 days(wow). But really, 16 hours a day, thats sick, really unhealthy. I play MAX 5 hours a day and I already need to wear glasse, I wonder what ppl who play 16+ need to wear?

When I first started EQ awhile back I was in college. I used to play it nonstop once I finished my classes and on weekends I easily broke 37-48 constant hours of game time, taking lunch, shower, and a movie/tv break or two while leaving the game on. I have spent 15 hours at a time on SOCOM II but I fell asleep playing it.

If you plan on power gaming here are some tips.

-No-Doze and Bawls are your friends. Do not take both at the same time

-Do not drink booze, you will fall asleep at the keyboard

-Make your screen saver something bright and set an alarm on your PC for every hour to avoid falling to dreamland.

-Pack in the Carbs. Eat some bread or pasta. It will allow you to stay up alot longer than a few cookies or chips would

    Well that is one way,

Yes 16+ hrs is attainable, not as soon as social life kicks in, but i myself had taken a week off once and indeed played about 17-18 hrs a day, slept woke up started teh game lowered my down & upload and started gaming again.

Sure, its a pain at times cause when the tirednes kicks in and you have a really Good working group you want to continue but if yer too tired you sleep.

The energy drink or the booze. well they both work depending on the person, i can do both and be happy *grins*
but mainly i just red-bull & water my way trough it, and for food its bread and cheese (easiest to make and eat)

I played the 16+ with games as ultima online, asherons call(I + II) darkspace (if the server permited it), and dark age of camelot, with the last one i had even a 30hr session, have to admit didn't touch teh game for 24 hrs after it just to 'loosen' up went out and then with a bit of a intoxicated mind i got back and started it again, was in the early days of darkage.

But Yes its higly doable, only not long in a row, unless yer a student & school person who has hollidays then you can easily attain it (i know i did) but.. not as a working class. then you have to have spare time and spare time ussaly goes to people you like/care about too so....

Oh well those were my two coppers on the subject.

Yes, I used to play that much, and some times even more. I used to be totally addicted to AO, now I havent been playing a MMORPG actively for over 6 months. I miss it alot... Monday morning Im back in regular work, then I hopefully can get back to be atleast a casual player on weekdays, hopefully a bit more at weekends...

Ive played almost all MMORPG's outthere, and must say AO rules it all... but frankly I want something new... but what game then...? ;)

Hey man, welcome to the forums. If you are an AO player why dont you help answer my AO questions in the AO board. It would help me alot!

16 hours is freakin' easy. What do you mean "Is it possible?". I endur 8 hours of boring hell everyday (also known as school) doing double that time but doing something FUN is very easy. Here are my tips:

     - Caffeine is not all it's hyped up to be. Take a bit, but if you get too much, you will get hyper and feel like leaving your chair.

    - If your near a window, keep it open. 16 hours of darkness will make you go insane.

    - Every time you are sitting or healing, step out of your chair, stretch a bit. Walk around the house as much as you can then sit back down.

I think the longest i have gone was on SWG. I was on for a whopping 9 hours trying to spell the "f" word, in tatooine houses. Around day 8 i managed to get all 4 letters.

I've done it about 3 times on Neverwinter Nights...  I only got up to use the bathroom or get some tea...  It makes you really tired if you cut into your sleep with 16 hours...  but yeah, it's really easy if you manage to get yourself imersed in a game... specially with mmorpgs cus you have all that healtime you could be doing something else... like reading a book, or playing your GBA...

Is it possible to play 16+ hours a day? Yes

Is it possible to play 16+ hours a day with a house, wife, job, and bills to pay? No

I'm sure there are plenty of kids out there during summer break that do nothing, but play games. I'm also sure there are some people out there with responsibilities in the real world that for one reason or another choose games over the real world. However I'm lucky if I get 16+ hours in a week. I'd rather work and keep my house, than play games and live with my parents again. image

i have played many long spells of time, my longest being for 56 hours, which no matter how hard i try, i CANNOT beat. That was attained during the holidays. On an average day i would say i play around 8 - 12 hours a day, which is allowing for eating, going to the bathroom, drinking and everything else. I personally dont drink coffee, or tea or any highly cafinated drinks i just have alot of constitution. I do drink lots of bottles of water though and go to the bathroom alot. Its not difficult to do 16, you just cant think about the time your soending on the game, you just have to get on otherwise your always looking at the clock and time goes alot slower. I end up (at 2am) thinking ill just pop on and have abit of a play. (things take alot longer than you plan on MMORPGs), before you know it your looking at the clock and its 8am and your late for college, sometimes it just happens like that.

Most characters been played for that amount of time are shared characters, where many persons boost 1 toon to the maximun.  (Many main tanks of many majors EQ raiding guild)

I recall a guy on my server that was ALWAYS online and doing something, hey I know, I was online 16 hours myself for a short duration(a few weeks), he was always there, always hunting or raiding, always answering my tells.  I ask a freak friend of mine to check during my off time, always on, always answering.  Yet, the character have multiple personalities! Sometimes he even speak french with me!  image

16 hours a days on a regular basic is hard, but possible, some peoples need only 4 or 5 hours of sleep and are completely functionnal.

2-5 students can easily share a character and ALWAYS be online(and playing, not been AFK) no matter what.  Some of them might even be dual boxing more then 1 account...but it is rare that they all dual box the same amount of toons...some folks can dual box 5 toons at once(talk about coordination).

Wow!!! Im actully a bit suprised so many woted i do it myself... I just couldnt do it. Sometimes  i look at the low level of my chars and want to do it, but after a few days of sleep only on the keyboard, my head got a real funny shape. But the problem is also to get bored sometimes im affraid of getting bored of a game and thats why i dosent play 16 hours + a day. I only game 3-4 hours, because of shcool and life... Thanks for all the postes its funny to see things from your point of view. Before this i had a hard time beliving it was possible. The only game i done it with was ac.

There is this deceass called addiction.

It nags on you all day long. It makes you run when work ends, it makes you loose weight, loose focus on the world around you, it makes going to sleep a hell. and when you begin to think about, taking out your sword, killing monsters, casting powerfull spell, when your girl is buisy on you, know that you gravely ill.......

But what the hack, 16 hours of beautifull elven ladies surounding you, or 10 minutes of sweet.....well forget it.....I am dreamin again....anyway I am an addic, and I'm enjoying it :)image

There is a to play 16+ hours a day with a house, wife, job, and bills to pay...It is the main reason I play 16 hours a day every day. lol. I test games for a living so I'm on those games all day for work and then I come home and me and my g/f play MMOs or if we're not currently playing MMOs I will pick up a good console game. *can't wait for Fable* Before I had this job though no, it really isn't possible to have much of a social life if your playing 16 hours EVERY day. I used to do that too but I'm actually glad I don't anymore. At least where I work is a rather social environment.

dude, my friend played EQ for like, two days straght. Ive played games for sixteen hour but usually I plan it out it's fun to do, but it's hard to do all at once without plans, and I also ecspecially like to invite some friends over and play some FPS on multi-player that,s the best! (this isn't the MMORPG fourum so I assume we're talking about all types of games.

    I love EverQuest!image

(edit- I don't play games for 16+ hours every day I do it when theres gonna be nothing to do or I just feel like it.)

Look at my anti-backstreet boys website at: www.88ruby88.tripod.com!I dont have many hits yet :( if you like it tell a friend!
