To be quite honest with you I would stick with Last Chaos. Although Rappelz is one of my favorite mmo's because I love having pets, it is too laggy and unstable to even play. The forums are down because of "maintenance" and has been down for the past week and the lag issue has not been resolved at all, and to make things worse the launcher does not even work anymore I have tried to login today for the past 4 hours and since the forums are down the only source of information is the announcements which says they will be up at 6AM, well it's almost 1PM right now and its still down. Stuff like this is what makes Rappelz the lesser of the two games.
I've started playing Rappelz and quickly fell in love with it. However, as the other poster stated, the forum has been down for quite some time now and I haven't been able to play the game since Sunday because of the launcher. I should have seen this coming because the servers were crashing like crazy over the weekend. For now Last Chaos is the way to go until Rappelz gets itself together.
Ive tried both. Ive gotten to about lvl 25 on rappelz, the graphics were great. except then i got tired of the constant grind, which happens to most mmorpgs i play. Also, theres not much of a sense of direction in that game, all you do is just go finish all the quests in one town, then go to the next and do the same thing all over again. Although the graphics ARE GREAT (if you have them on the highest setting), theres so much lag, that i find myself constantly switching the graphics mode to the lowest setting whenever i enter town simply because it theres so much lag. (and my computer aint that bad either) infact, ive heard that rappelz wasnt even developed to sustain high amounts of players on their servers. but, if you have great internet bandwith and all that mumbo jumbo, and you like grinding games, then this game is for you!

all in all, i like both games, but i think theres more features in lastchaos then in rappelz, and grinding could only entertain a person for just so long...
I think I'm going to have to disagree and say you should stick with Rappelz, it's true the lag did make it unbearable to play and I almost quit because of it, but it seems to have died down significantly lately or just on my server (Yeti). Graphics are amazingly better then LC, and while Rappelz quest might all just be grinding with a new coat of paint on it, LC's quests were worse, what was it about 1 quest every level that would get you about 5% EXP?
Rappelz is better than Last Chaos, and Perfect World is better than both.
Last Chaos is a zoning game, all areas are in their own small zones, not connected together; whereas Rappelz is an open seamless world. Rappelz graphics are also better.
Apart from a little lag sometimes in the cities, I get no lag outside of the cities (do not summon a pet in the cities, it lags much more with a summoned pet).
There is another f2p game that's better than Rappelz and Last Chaos combined, Perfect World:
- better graphics, with much more polish (one of the best waters of any mmos with animated foam on the coasts (http://www.w2i.com.cn/jietu/images/17.jpg), world particls effects, birds, rainbows, night&day system with weather effects,...)
The US version with US severs will release later this year. Till then you can play the Malaysian version with the English patch, instructions are here:

hey I'm downloading rappelz right now. I've heard many people complaining about lag. I'm on a laptop with 2 1.99GHz harddrives, 111gb each. I have 1.93 gb RAM... do you think I will still lag? ty
PS- when I play guild wars, an extremely hefty program, it never lags.. never. and the loading screens go really fast.
RAPPELZ!!! LC suxs! its full wiht lag and i cant feel the charm of the game when playing it. About Rappelz every time i start new char i feel all warm inside. Rappelz is better graphics,coolers quests,nice education island for new palyers and more friendly people. So if i were you i would defenetly start playing RPZ

The only time that I ever have lag on Rappelz is for a brief moment or two when I enter a city, then it clears up right after that. I don't have any lag when I'm fighting out in the world. And my computer isn't that great either. Pentium IV 3ghz with 1gb ram and a GeForce 6600 256mb.
Try LC, Rappelz is worst than Final Fantasy XI back in the day with item prizes, there is so many currency sellers in game as well, LC is more calm and the community is nice.
I think they are even. (but LC doesn't got the lags of rappelz.) But Metin2 is better than both games.
Yes, metin 2 IS good, but you must have just started because it gets REALLLY boring after lvl 15 or so. its the same exact thing OVER AND OVER, also the charaters look like the EXACTLY ALIKE. pisses me off.

LC has good graphics, fighting, and skills, and so does rappelz. so... same shit... i cant think of anything on how they are different except for the amazing amount of lag in LC. So overall i think Rappelz. What do you think?
I have a lvl6 char in it, i quit when i found out you have to pay for an item which will let you say hello to everyone on the server (found it a rip off idea).
I wouldn't mind getting in-touch with some people in PW and start playing it if it would let me shout serverwide to hook up with people from other games.
Please le me know if i am able to shout serverwide without paying real money.

rappelz is one of the best games ever played. the only reason for the low fans is the infinate grinding. and lag.

last chaos is kinda not catchy, i hate the part were u distripute state either to hp or sp. its too simple. the attack style, i hate it. skills dk, i just feel its worst than grind games idk why.
oh and by the way dont bother doing quests in rappelz. its stupid. if u want money wither go farm and sell wither pets or their cards or u can go to dungens and keep killing and getting armor u can sell.
both rappelz and last chaos are cut from the same asian grinder game stone, in both games your only goal is to grind to get levels (rappelz adds grind for getting pet drops also)

but i didnt like last chaos for the reason that there was poor character classes, rappels has more of a party centerd race selection as there are more support/tank/dd classes, at least grinding in parties is fun as everyone in the party has their role
i found last chaos more of a grind by yourself which for me was INSANELY boring after a short time
although in rappelz too you reach a moment in the gmae where you question "why am i grinding, what is the purpouse"
hopefully you reach that point after spending a minimal amount in the cash shop
as with most asian grinders, they turn the grind way up on both games for those who dont pay, and again, as with most asian grinder, you would have ended up paying less for a p2p than with these cash shop games, if you want to be competative that is, and with these kinds of games, the onlything to do is try to be competative, as quests are minimal after the grind wall hits, and pvp goes to the guy who spent the most.
so in my opinion...get a job...work a few hours a week...just play a pay2play where the game at least give a fair advantage to every player and wont gouge you in the wallet for a competative advantage, in a game with nothing to do but grind at least.
I just downloaded Rappelz last night and im trying to open it up but nothing happens. I have tried to (run as adminstrator) and still nothing. Im running windows vista(unfortunately) so maybe i am somehow doing something wrong? im confused over here, i really want to play this game!

funny 4 me not free game only but their Quest & Pet system make me happy with my relax time ^^
