WotLK vs TBC

Rogue420Rogue420 Member Posts: 296

I started playing WoW around 3 to 4 years ago. TBC IMO was a major disappointment. There was nothing I liked about TBC. I didn't like most of the zones, the pve content, EotS, areNAH (it could've worked if done correctly), flying mounts (ruined what was left of world pvp), races, shat being the new IF/Org, and some other crap. There's a lot of thing I like about WotLK... Like the zones, another class, and new profession. Now for my concerns... I really hope they don't balance everything around areNAH and focus on it too much (like TBC). Flying mounts need to be fixed to bring back world pvp. Making the game too casual... I hope it doesn't get to the point were Blizzard holds your hand 1-80 and then gives you endgame epics in a gift basket as soon as you hit lvl80.BTW, seeing scrubs running around in epics defeats the purpose of calling the gear EPIC.

Also we better be getting a cool BG.

Just curious how flying mounts killed world PvP when flying mounts aren't even allowed in Azeroth and they couldn't have killed world PvP in Outlands since Outlands didn't exist before TBC?

Because everyone 58+ moved to outlands with TBC and the flying mounts worked there.  the only exception being taneris because the CoT are there.  other than that everyone left the zones where flying mounts aren't allowed.  thats how they killed PvP.

Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.

The section in green is the only real problem I have with the current players of WoW who think this way.

I play wow on a pvp server also (that is important to note), and I am also in a guild that does endgame (currently in sunwell). However to look down on players who do NOT prefer to waste their time or life in an MMO by raiding 40 hours a week is retarded.

Blizzard gave PvPers epics. So what. They have to earn those epics through pvp. The suits are also NOT the same as the ones we get out of BT and Sunwell or so on. The stats of these epics are built around pvp, just like ours are designed for pve.

Actually in our guild being on a PvP server we each have 2 suits. 1 suit of Arena armor for world pvp and 1 suit of PvE armor that we wear for the raids.

However that being said, I could give 2 shits less about anyone on the server running around in S1 2 or 3 and now 4. Who cares really, If they have S3 or 4. They more than earned it usually. If they have S1 or 2 then it's easier to get but it just gives them a way to even the playing field so to speak against the raiders.

People whine about this but it is stupid really. PvP and PvE are both time sinks. It is just 2 ways to get armor for the 2 diff types of players in wow. Hell even for those who Don't want to do either, they give epics to the crafters.

QQ and stop worrying about PvPers getting some purple armor. The people who cry over this annoy me because it is like they think their time in game is somehow much more important than anyone else playing.

Nerve of some people I swear.

We raid for the epics because that is what we do.

Yes ,  TBC is better than Claseeic WoW.  But the Aren  destroies the game.

I agree with some of what the OP says.

In order for the concept of arena to work, all classes must be balanced at PvP. This is especially the case given the high cost in time of levelling up and gearing a replacement character for arena play compared to other arena based games (cf guild wars). If characters are unequal and cannot be readily replaced, then the result is a large number of disappointed PvP customers (it didn't matter if people were unequal in battlegrounds, since in a 10 person team, teamwork and gear tends to outweigh any small differences between class capabilites).

Hence the games is forced to be balanced around arena. Especially 2v2 arena, which is where most arena people can be found.

However only a small proportion of people play arena with any seriousness.

And the balance of other parts of the games (e.g. PvE, battlegrounds etc), gets messed up in the interests of keeping arena working.

    ---

I used to agree with the OP about the concept of epic flyers ruining pvp. However that isn't really the case. If someone wants pvp on a pvp server, there are plenty of places where pvers must operate on the ground, and will be forced to fight  e.g. meeting stones, quel'danas, the elemental plateau etc.

If anything the balance has gone the other way. Whereas beforehand, if a raider was out farming mats or whatever and he was jumped by a PvPer, he would have at least some chance of defending himself. Nowadays, if a PvEer is jumped by a S3/4 subtletly rogue, he is pretty much auto-dead. And that's even if the PvEr has put some effort into getting himself a PvP gear set (e.g. S1).

    ----

It seems to me that the next expansion is likely to continue the direction of TBC. There will be arena. There will be flying mounts. Blizzard is a commercial company, and will develop it's product to meet anticipated challenges from rivals. At the moment it looks like the main rivals to WotLK will be AoC and WhO, so Blizzard will develop WoW accordingly. The game is likely to become more and more pvp-centric.

I don't like the expansions personally because they turn the old world completly useless and make it sooo barren, I remember before TBC the old world beign heavily populated but now everyone just stays in the expansion. Also the level cap spreads players out further and tbh I don't see the need in 10 extra levels, why not just let us make characters from end level if they are going to be sooo meaningless.

I just wish'd they'd have kept adding new content via patches.

Agreed.  They should've never abandoned Azeroth the way they did.  This is why i dislike leveling systems, because they render everything useless once you reach max level.

everyone in that game are going to be running around as death knights, pretty retarded that blizzard only introduced one hero class, pretty smart from a business stand point, because the next expansion will have another hero class to sucker you all in again.

I think that this expansion will do worse on percentage of sales/playerbase then TBC did. It might sell more but it won't be as popular among the players.

Many players don't like losing everything they worked for in a gear reset to level to 80. Adding 1 hero class is a recipe for overpopulation.  Not to mention that they are reusing content, poor Naxx, and the whole 10 man raids can be 25man raids. Also many classes don't like the way that Blizzard is trying to  homogenize gear/classes. PvP will still be laughable as always.

If there is an outlet for these players I believe you will see a drop in sales for this expansion.

PvP is a big focus in wotlk as is streamlining the pve and moving away from the HARDCORE MF stuff. However as things stand now I 'believe' that pvp balance is totally non-existant, so if things remain as I 'believe' they are now you have nothing to worry about arena balance. Thou if your a rogue you will enjoy arena as it is an epic piñata just put a blindfold on and smack your keyboard and out will pop epics.

    More PVP  - check

    More PVE  - check

    More zones  - check

    More class(es)  - check

More items and armor, diferent models for PVE and PVP, aerial combat, vehicle combat, destructable buildings, more skills, slightly tweaked graphics....

All in all I think WotlK will be a quite fun litle content adition to already content bursting game.  No reason to worry, if you don't like WoW, not realy much hope into liking it more after the expansion hits and if you just burned out, well, don't worry, you'll be back.

Welcome to the world of MMO's

    More class imbalance - check

Matter of opinion .. pick a class more suited .. and dont assume your the best, you will get beat some times .. thats not class imbalance. The only way to make WoW and all mmos balanced is to only have 1 class and give then all the same gear  .. seems a little boring to me.

More re-balance of classes for PvP to the detriment of PvE - check

Matter of opinion .. Learn to Itemise and spec better.

Welcome to the world of MMO's I've been playing them for 5 years but thanks for the welcome 5 yrs = noob in MMO's. If you didn't play UO, EQ or DAoC in their primes... = noob. so quit trying to make yourself look like an internet tough guy like you been around the block a time or two. You have been around wow.... Not MMO's.

I have 4 level 70s Warlock, Rogue, Hunter and Druid Problem here is you chose all easy mode classes. You play 4 out of 4 of the easiest GD classes in wow. The catered to Lock, The EZmode 2 button Rogue, The I can level 20 times faster than you Hunter and the I can tankz02 healz02 or BOOMZ02!!!!! Druid. Play something that requires skill. Which I don't know WHY you are bitching 4 of 4 of the classes you play are on the top of the PvP food chain. matter of fact they ARE the top 4 PvP classes, so WTF are you crying about with in-balance. You play the KINGS of in-balance.

Yes.. wohoo uhuh This one I might agree with you on. WoW does suffer from the "if it ain't broke don't fix it syndrome" and is in desperate need of some life and spice. Still though wow is a good game, and more of the same still appeals to many.
