SOE are in it for the money...yet they fail to realize they would make double the money they make now if they developed a Planetside 2 or brought back SWG Pre-NGE. Stubborn bastards.
I don't give a rats ass about "The Agency" I want PS2 or Classic SWG Servers (Which will never happen)
I would have come back to SWG after WOW bored me to tears, but at that point SWG wasn't SWG anymore. All pre-cu SWG needed was some pve and pvp love (and no freakin' jedi holocrons for the love of all that's holy), and it would probably be second to wow at this point. Call me crazy, but I really truly believe that a refined pre-cu SWG would be a very good game at this point.
I'm sorry I brought up SWG in your thread. I just can't help myself whenever SOE's involved. My bad...

I don't know, I gotta admit I wasn't all that impressed by the videos of The Agency. Then again, I was expecting something better like Hitman or even james bond or maybe even M:I. Meh, I'm a sucker for those kind of secret agent stories, the way the characters are modeled, kind of reminds me of the movie "Get: Smart" which is not really what I would be looking for if I wanted to play a secret agent. Not to mention I wasn't too stoked with one of the bosses they portrayed in the videos, a guy with a hockey mask and chainsaws? really?
I don't think another Planetside will be made for a long time, because it's very difficult to do, technically. Planetside struggled to have ~150 players on each side in one world.

I honestly think they botched it more than anything else. I played PS at launch on Johari, so I saw pretty much the biggest battles that the game would ever see. Yeah, there was lag when things really started flying, but it worked well enough to get by, at least for me. I never had any of the crippling lag that others had, but I think a bunch of that was probably clientside, since I had almost a brand new rig at the time.
But they screwed it up in some really big ways, even then. Forget about BFR's or CC. From what I saw, most of the desertion happened before those even hit the scene. Early on, they released some truly shitty patches that screwed a lot of things up. That killed performance more than anything else. They fixed it like three months after launch, but it was too late by then.
The FPS crowd doesn't really hang around technical failures too long, especially since so much of the enjoyment of a FPS is reliant on smooth performance. The only exceptions are games which have a fanatical following. Tribes 2 was a good example. That game took forever to really die, and they did nothing to support it after Sierra pulled Dynamix off the project. Planetside now has its own fanatical supporters, of course, plus plenty like me who have fond memories of PS's early days, so I think the underpinnings are there for a PS2.
I've played tons of shooters. The best moments I've ever had were either in Tribes 2 or Planetside. If they served up a sequel, I'd definitely try it. I can't promise I'd like it, but I'd definitely try it. I'm sure there are plenty of others with that feeling.

I would love to see a planetside 2, or just a new game that was similar to planetside.
Good game, just growing dated.

every game company has its own thought of its game...and also every game need to be upgranded..however they don't think so too...what a pity!
