Has anyone heard of this game? It looks pretty neat. Anyone have feedback? They have these bling gnomes too that look really cool. I wonder how I can get one...

When I tried it last year it played like a more modern diablo basically, not bad though.

The game is actually quite funny, and i think its still f2p.

Id say give it a shot see if you like it :)

btw bling gnomes come with the retail package I believe, if you go to the store and buy it, i think the game is f2p though if you want to so im not sure how that works.

Ok cool. Yeah, I was thinking of getting it because I saw the blinggnome site...have you seen the new one? there is some sort of special...

Dungeon runners is free to play but used a membership monthly subscription plan ($5 per month) rather than an item shop.

This table shows what you get for your membership and the retail box.

Link to all the info of what you get in the retail box.

Dungeon Runners has been my favorite online game for a while.  It is f2p, which allows you to play all content up to the max level.  There's nothing members can do that non-members can, they can just do it a little faster (find usable mythic gear easier, for example).  It's not like some other games where you literally can't progress, can't level, can't do certain dungeons, etc.. if you don't pay.  That being said, if you want some extra goodies (faster exp, more gold drops, etc..), you can choose to pay for the $5/month membership (super cheap, definitely worth it if you're entertained more than a few hours/month).

The Bling Gnome (who rocks, btw) comes only in the retail box, which costs $20 (some places for even less), but includes 6 months of membership (which would normally cost you $30), so it's a great bargain.

Awesome! What exactly are the bling gnomes? They look funny! Haha

    They're gnomes, with bling!

That's great! I think I'll check it out...sounds like a good bargain and I'll probably get a gnome! Haha

It's a solid game.  It personally didn't hold my interest for that long.  I think Mythos is superior, comparing the two, but it's really a matter of taste.  Both have a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor, and they're both very similar in some ways.  I guess it's really down to preference.

I liked it, i thought the humour was grand! But, all those dungeon runs, after a while seems too alike.

I liked the game alot, but, i just coudlnt play it anymore -.-

I fiddled a bit with the beta and although I enjoyed the humour, the game itself did get repetitive and rather tedious after a while.  I think Mythos is much better at this sort of game.  Unfortunately, unfortunately it's still in beta and I have no idea when it will launch.

That's a pretty fair assessment, Kurush.  I play DR and I'm currently beta testing Mythos.  I like both and Mythos is definitely more feature- rich, even in beta, than Dungeon runners, but I just think Dungeon Runners is more "fun".

Signe, if you haven't played DR since beta, maybe you should check it out again.  Core gameplay is still the same (hack-n-slash), but the game has changed dramatically with improved control and movement, new dungeons, quests, mobs, loot, pvp, classless skill system (you start as one of three basic classes, but can mix and match skills and gear to be whatever class you want as you go up in level), etc... Guilds are coming in the next big chunk, too.  FYI, the dev team is implementing a new graphics engine later this year, too, so expect some big changes there.

im surprised you guys fell for the viral marketing scheme. 4 posts in the one thread he started, on the first day he joined MMORPG.com .... GG.....

EDIT: oh, also. dont forget the horrible generic name "Gamer1986" ... lol ..... Anything as simplistic as this thrown in with this kind of thread, is especially obvious.

I didn't fall for it.  I played along with it.  Regardless how obvious it was, it was still valid and generated some good discussion.  They do need to be more subtle, though :p

I think the real viral marketing comes more from people who have to talk about the OTHER games in online gaming forums.

Not bashing those who posted for Mythos; matter of fact, I play it some too. Looking forward to it.

But I've noticed any post about Dungeon Runners usually gets an automatic "Mythos is better" post. Of course, for every Hellgate or Mythos post, there's a zerg rush of "Diablo III $&$&#& PWNZ!" comments.

I have this theory game companies pay people to troll game forums, stir hornets nest, and get others in the community to "join the band wagon" of bashing the competition. I have reason to wear foil hats on this; I've had friends and relatives in the entertainment industry who paid firms to pose as Joe-User and "leak" videos and information on blogs, youtube etc....

I dunno, this topic is probably too crazy and serious for a DR thread.

To get us back on track:

Dungeon Runners, you're either going to love it for what it is or hate it for what it's not. Mindless hack'n'slash goodness and pure silly? I'm sold. I'm even thinking of stock piling Retail boxes to either hand out or stack to my account.
