Talking about SWG much?
The creator/company inspires no confidence.

I'd try it if it were not a variation on the Item Mall game type. I'd even drop a few bucks just to see what it is but their busyness model does not interest me.
No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-
Never heard of this before.. .hmm... their beta test form is weird, Vista isnt an option for current OS. The Nvidia 8 series arent an option...
One of the announcements is from march 08.
honestly... Vista isnt an option for quite a few games, but they still work on it.
The engine looks like the same as the one they used for tribes 2. Think it was called Torque.
looking at the graphics I just threw up in my mouth
Coming from a foundation of EQ1, I like these graphics. The classless system lured me in and I'm in the open beta. I'll get back to you guys when I hit level 10 and start PvPing.
Blessings,
MMO migrant.
Not much can really be assessed by the "About" section though COP does have that should I say, "intimate" little realm feel for like-minded players kind of groove going. Looks like another beta and forum handle applications are in good order for me. Graphically it's almost similar to Shadowbane's and speaking of which, that 1 is still well alive with proven implementations?
Edits:- Oh found the right forum link >.<:::
All those "hardcore pvp players" will always find a reason not to play a "hardcore pvp game" so It's useless to advertise them. no one will play them.
Bla bla bla GRAPHICS bla ba bladeebla.
That's what I seem to read the most nowadays. I can't believe people cut themselves off from trying games because of the graphics. If the gameplay is smooth and fun, who cares???
These people need to go back in time and see how much graphics don't matter. I'm young, 18, and so have grown up in this good-graphics era... And at the moment, it's the 2D SNES games that hold my interest. Find a way to play Chrono Trigger. The graphics suck, but I haven't had this much fun in a long time.
An MMO with super awesome pwning graphics to me just means the devs spent time on the look of the game that could've been spent on the FUN of the game. *cough* AoC *cough*
All I ask from graphics is a feeling of togetherness. WoW is a good example. Yes, the graphics are cartoony and simple, but EVERYTHING in WoW fits. It looks right. The characters move in the game world like you would expect, all of the colors blend well together, etc.
Give things a try guys. Sometimes the games with ugly-looking, out-dated, simple graphics are the most fun to play!
Yep, because players who don't want FFA PvP will never play, so the so called "hardcore" crowd will have to compete with themselves and they won't like that since they're not used to being the ones ganked/griefed. It's a very sick mentality.
As for the game, it looks like a crummy re-hash of EQ1 and considering that I don't know who these developers are, I'll keep my distance, sorry, but when you consider what has happened to the players of Dark and Light (thank GOD I never played it and had enough sense to read the forums first) I don't think I want to take my chances.
I think there liquid cooled $500 video card would be wasted regardless of gameplay, why have all this high end computer equipment and decide to play a goofy looking game .
playing eq2 and two worlds
You know it is funny, everyone puts so much emphasis on graphics, when it is content that keeps you interested in games.
I was playing Age of Conan earlier this summer, just fantastic graphics, but content disappeared soon as I got into the higher levels of the game.
You know what I am back playing now, Asheron's Call. Yep, worse graphics than shown here, but content galore. The thing is it is hard to have fun in a game without the content.
So I think many of you are ignoring games that you might have some great fun in, just because you demean the graphics, which in the end have little effect on gameplay.
I with the rest of the posters here that don't care so much about graphics. I mean, I want it to look better than UO or something like that, but I don't need bleeding edege graphics.
What is more important to me that graphic quality, is art style. For example, while a lot of people like it, I really don't like the artwork in WoW.
I like the artwork style in this game just fine. If the gameplay was what I wanted, I"d play it with no qualms about the graphics quality.
Also, a lot of people really really like the Anime artstyle, and that's fine if that's what you like, but the big eyes and spikey hair don't really appeal to me.
I won't play any game that uses an item shop revenue system aka micropayments aka RMT.
If it doesn't have a flat subscription rate, it fails because you have to compete with your wallet to be on par with other players.
It's is a bit sad though that real pvp mmos are not made. Companies just sit down, create a 3d world with lame houses and bushes, throw in the usual tank - healer - dps classes, some battlegrounds (or keeps) / arenas to claim they have pvp, which are really easy to make, and finally add some raid dungeons and then they expect our 15$ a month.
AoC for example is a horrible WoW copy. WoW just caters to pve/raid crowd.
In the end no one make good games anymore because they just want the fastest shortcut to million of dollars. So instead of creating something original they just go the cookie-cutter way like AoC did. Even the items in AoC is colored in green, blue, purple haha.
Why is there not one brave developer trying to do a real massive game. With rpg elements. AoC is just Multiplayer Online.
Where are the mmorpgs?
This game listed here in this thread might have some good ideas, but can't we get a more larger company that both deliver great art direction AND a great gameplay. Must it be either or?
Why else have a dual core 3.0 ghz, ultimate vista, 8 gb computer? To play chess? Or DAoC?
Earthrise looks more appealing than this one, sorry.
edit: I forgot to add, like the poster just above me I would rather not play any game with this payment system.
