While yes, indeed it's an mmo, and will never truly be "complete" they still need to at least make an effort at class balancing for pvp, talents for the remaining classes that don't have them, and a myraid of other core issues.

All polishing, addition of quests, more items, graphical enhancements, etc.. I can wait for.  But like hell if I'm gonna make a hunter after just buying the game for 80$ (collector's edition) having NO idea what talents are coming, or when.  With pet damage at 1/4 what it should be, and the inability to feed a Zehvra.

The beta runs very smooth, probably smoother than any other beta I've played.  But it still needs work.  I can consistantly beat warlocks 5 levels above, Paladins 8 lvls below make a difficult fight.  Mages eat my cheapshot + kidney shot.  The list goes on.

When someone plays the game retail, and they get their butt wholloped by someone 8 lvls below they're going to begin to hate the game.  I left daoc b/c mythic kept introducing new and untested (not well tested anyway) products. ToA ruined the game for me.  I hear the new realms are an archer/casterfest.

While it would be nice to have it out now, play with the rest of the population and work towards something I know I'm keeping, I'd much rather play it in a more complete state.  And keep the new members that come.

If there is a way...I'll find it.

Blizzard has stated many times that they're going to release WoW pretty soon, and then implement alot of cool content (hero classes, world events, a weather system, seige warfare, etc.) after that.

I would have to agree that an MMO is something that has to be work on continiously and may never truly be complete but with the "finishing touches" that they put on it sometimes can make the game just that much better.

Yes, yes. Let's release it now so the premature ejaculaters can get their quick thirty second fix, before they hit the forums screaming about how shit ain't working. ::::12::

That's why SWG is in the shithole they're in now.

Now would be a good time to start taking your Ritalin, and develop some patience.

I loved the stress test and found it fun and playable, but there were lands missing, talents missing for many classes, etc... It clearly was an incomplete game with much potential, but still clearly not yet ready for launch.

Yes, mmorpgs continue to evolve after launch, but going retail too early has killed the potential of many games. The more incomplete, the fewer purchasers and continuing subscribers, which equals less money for future development, which further pushes back potential realization of what the game could have become, etc...

I miss WoW, after having the stress test end, but I want it to be truly ready for release before it goes retail. :)

As soon as the last 3 classes get talents, the game is good to go. Everything else can be done after release.

I don't think this is about releasing WoW in a beta state like SOE does with all their games. This is about Blizzard shipping WoW complete, then adding lots of goodies (things that aren't crucial for it to be a great game but nice) later. You mean you can't live without some weather system? Oo, I'm gonna die! image

Na, there's more to do than that. PvP still isn't implemented the way Blizzard wants and there are things like balancing (some classes need alot of work). But, yeah, Blizzard is basically in a tweak stage at this point. They're not going to add any real major content until after release.

  • OchosiOchosi Member Posts: 24
Balancing is still an issue, particularly in PvP.  On the boards there are many concerns about balancing that go beyond your typical, and never ending, calls for nerfs.  They're almost ready to go but not quite.  They know they have to stick the landing on this one.  The MMO community is expecting a great deal from WoW.  The least that they need to deliver is a bug free game with flawless game play and no major game breaking issues.  Screwed up balancing in a game with such an important PvP element is a potentially game breaking issue.  Almost ready...but "almost" only counts in hand-grenades and horse-shoes. image

I'd say they still have a month and a half to two months, depending on how much trouble they have with tweaking the talents and pvp. From everything I've heard, the rest of the 'content' is done, just needs to be put in, and tweaked. By content, I'm referring to talents, itemization, etc. Things like Hero classes, and weather I could care less about, but core gameplay type stuff best be there, and locked down tight.

And, yeah, after reading a million and one posts during the stress test by people who never got farther than level 10 that they could release the game now, my fuse is about .. long.

They only need to balance classes and polish some low end content and fix some major bugs and it will be ready to play while they continue to work on end game content like heros and high lvl dungeons.

When I played the stress test I was very happy with the way it was. VERY VERY VERY polished game and its still in beta.

I wouldnt care if they released it now or later, there will always be patches for future bugs. What did you mean by complete it? Did you mean have it completely finished so that everyone doesnt complain... In my opinion they should just release it now, because for one: lots of mmorpg already came out, if Blizzard was planin on showin us all a great rpg they should probaly release it earlier so that everyone can experience it. Right now, it looks out dated, when I first saw it I liked it. Tho now I kinda hate all mmorpgs, due to their lack of efforts to contain players needs. I had downloaded and hosted WoW thru Team Pthyon, all mmorpg used the same type of engine of codec. To host a Server for WoW, u just need to run ur cmd, sqld, and another special cmd u get from Team Pthyon. It's so lame when u finally understand how the whole mmorpg system works. For instance for those of u with dont know all ur characters are written in a notepad with a couple of characters in it. I dont think Blizzard is delayin because they have no choice but rather their lazy. Therefore I am not wasting my time with any of these rpg.

1,2 buckle my shoe 3,4 knock on the door 5,6 pick up sticks
    7,8 GO AND SKATE !

    without life we'd be dead.

Hmm.. so let me get this straight.. you guys always flame SOE for releasing their games with bugs and broken/unfinished end-game content, yet this is exactly what you want Blizzard to do?

Wow, you Blizzard fanbois are worse than I thought. (I guess this is "different" though, after all.. all hail the mightly Blizzard folks ::::12:: )

Nobody here has seen the content past 40+, and few people have seen it past levels 25-30.

They should just finish up what they started, and put everything into the game that they were planning on putting in.

Lands missing? Which ones?  ... I am not questioning the post, I am just curious. I've only played the stress so I am unfamiliar with most of the map.

as far as my take on the release ... I agree it can wait. I don't know when a game is considered ready but I am sure Blizzard knows more than I do ... perhaps if I was a game designer I would have a better take on it ...but I am not.

I am however looking forward to open beta image    ...and the wait is hell image

Some high lvl. areas weren't complete during the stress test. It looks like they (most) were finished in the new patch.
