Yeah while this is more against pirating single player games, an MMO is a little different. You can't pirate a subscription for multiple months (no way that I know of...) so to put this in would be pointless.
Though he said all EA/Maxis games, so maybe, but I think he was mad because it'll be used with Spore.
-------------------------------------- A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"
Highly unlikely b/c the game installation itself isn't what is valuable to them--it's the account subscription.
Agreed software only makes so much in bulk but the subs is what pays the bills in the end. Anyway more than likely if they offer a "digital download" version in the future this feature would be useless. Only single player games would really have to take advantage of this software, if it is effective and doesn't bug out your computer (never used that software before).
I dont detest EA but that program is beyond stupid. i hated it when Bioshock and Mass effect had online activations (my beast computer cant connect currently) and to make matters worse they were single player games with 0 multiplayer options.
still i think EA will be pleased to know that their system is grabbing peoples attentions...i'm so glad MMO's dont have these problems
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds -Solid non level based game -Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
Thank you for the responces. I appriciate it. I just got concerned when it was connected to EA and their aquisition of Mythic. (And the recient circumstantial evidence that AOC was more concerned with units sold for the initial money boost.)
Would not worry now that they have gone to hands off approach with Mythic for day to day ops. A good move on their part imo as they have a strong company structure that works so why "F" with it.

No, they won't, because it would be completely pointless for an MMORPG that can only be played online with an active subscription.

NO MMOs to date ever had any copy protection. You can play them all without DVD in your drive.
Why? Because you need a registered account and password to play! So protecting the DVD is absolutely stupid.
There will be no copy protection on WAR either, it just makes no sense
