Bypassing defenses

Someone just took a colony of mine where the biodome was surrounded by multiple rings of flaks, and there was a solar cannon up, and he did it without killing a single flak. Is there any legal way to do this, or was he using an exploit?

No, he was not a member of the corp I'm in (My corp is only myself and an RL friend of mine). This whole thing was done in a space of about 15 minutes, with the nearest starport over 10 hops away, so there was no chance he could have cleared the defenses and then put them back up again.

It is possible that the invader 'drilled' a hole in your defences and then managed to bypass the other cannons and either rearranged the cannons left and/or replaced the ones he defeated with ones in his inventory. If your biodome was placed in an open area then only one side of defences needs to be destroyed for its capture. Such matters are the topic of other discussions on this message board... check them out.

Otherwise, I have no knowledge of how this could be acheived 'legally'.

I've had the same thing happen to me just I never really cared too much about it. I am guessing that the guy killed maybe 7 of your turrets and was carrying 7 more.
