Well Mythic is smart there wont be any BAN's on forums as there wont be any official forums.

So all the trolling will be done on unofficial forums.

.............riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight...............new spreads fast, but either way, I'm kinda glad Warhammer doesn't have an official forum, first it's saving them money, now they can spend their resources on say, THE GAME!!! THE THING THAT REALLY MATTERS!!!

    Eh?

I think what is interesting is the reference to 'the explosion' i mentioned has many remarks regarding Funcom.

Read on .... maybe you didnt.

exactly, it's just a matter of time before Funcom is gonna fall, and I don't even care if they fall or not.  I Just want them to admit that Age of Conan was a failure.  First of all, 20% of the boxed sales.  Rofl, we sold 700k boxes, yup, only keeping 20% of the gross profit, that's wonderful.

  • dhayes68dhayes68 Member UncommonPosts: 1,388

Obviously the big difference is in the communication. Specifically I noticed Mythic provided some.

  • hobo9766hobo9766 Member UncommonPosts: 457

I bet funcom is busy shredding papers and burning documents about now. Why would they want to communicate with their paying customers to make the game a success when they can crash and burn....

  • RudydogRudydog Member Posts: 144

Yeh they were quick to move and so they should, the original post reached 500 posts in a very short time.

    Before they took control.

Mark Jacob's explanation is straight up and a breath of fresh air.  This is exactly what we wanted from Funcom all along.  An indication that they are aware of our discontent and an explanation for it.  Mythic provided exactly that.

I wasn't sure about trying Warhammer but now I'm even more convinced.  That's a good company and I will gladly support them with my money.

  • XenosaiyanXenosaiyan Member Posts: 215

well based on their stocks, we know that Funcom isn't doing well, and based on the sales, ok 20% is alright, but honestly we know that there aren't many subscribers with all this complaining on the forums, and xfire, yup, it's obvious...the rest is history, by christmas this game will be mediocre

I wholeheartedly agree - I am no longer hyped over about WAR but I will give it a try. After 3 years of DAOC I am left with a such a void that I am guessing only Mythic can fill. I truly like them as a company - thats a lot for me to say.

In my experience they really did an honest thing with community/customer relations and learned a thing or two back in the days of DAOC. I salute the release of  WAR while not being overly enthusiastic about it.

FUNCOM - putting the FUN in disFUNctional !

    /agree

Really happy how that situation was dealt with. It wasnt just a one off post, but multiple posts that didnt get too common. Everything was clear cut and not over verbalised. Just straight to the point with some compassion.

If only Funcom would learn. The only mod ive had any respect for officially with AOC was Famine, on a good day.

The volunteer mods really left a bad taste in my mouth over there. I think they are partly to blame for the community demise.

Funcom take note here, its not a bash or you suck post. Its just a take note and act fast to save your flaming game.

It all starts with the people.... you can only tell paying customers to 'get stuffed, if you dont like it and

leave mentalitly' for so long until the magic 700k + figure looks very worn and old.

I truely deep down, even though i have quit AOC. Would like to see a number of very successful MMORPG's out there.

Please dont leave it to just one company, time for many other MMORPG companies to really pull their finger out.

Competition is good! Drop the marketing hype and get back to basics.

You know I too have canceled AoC and the sad thing about it is I am not really that bitter over the whole thing.  As someone who has played MMO's on and off for several years now my expectations have really gone down hill with regards to quality and how game play matches advertised function and features.

I agree with getting back to basics, it would be nice to see some integrity in the market again (if its even been there to begin with :) ).

Is it just me or have things been on a downward decline for a few years now/?

Wow brains hurts right now but yeh your last point sparked me.

Could it be since WOW, all game developers feel or are on the backpeddel? If so why? Show some nuts and bring it on!

Heh so easy to say but its how i feel, its true since WOW, there hasnt been anything that has come close since the golden days of UO, SWG(never played but what ive read there is still a very loyal base to the old version), EQ1, and finally DAOC..... with white paper sucess.

This last company i hope can be some sort of guiding light and be the "Unstoppable Force against the Immovable Object"

I also think this is why there are so many angry people out there with regards to Funcom, in reality they dont stand up to what is currently out there.... and it seems they dont care to even try on many levels that can be argued.

I am not a WOW fanboi, i stopped playing since AOC, it at least did that for me. But i think as for many all Funcom did was cause the mysterious haze to clear. Finally some of us can see... what is really going on in the MMORPG game.

Have we become more savvy? Who can say, the benchmark for sucess financially is still with Blizzard.

May the next contender please stand up... and let the games begin

Well I will say one thing for FunCom, AoC may suck, but at least they tried to break out of the WoW mold. The last thing I think that any of us want to see is another WoW. I'm a hardcore PvE'er, I like PvP off and on, but I want a game with more realism, and not just in the graphics. I want to have to run half way across the map to search for my corpse because I died out in the middle of nowhere while exploring. I know, a lot of people don't like strict death penalties, but I think they add to the fun of the game. Where is the fun if there isn't a risk? All of this casual gamer instant gratification crap may be fine for an FPS, or an action console game, but MMORPGs are supposed to be about building your character. These new MMOs are just too easy, and try to make up for it by having other players provide the difficulty in PvP. I hope WAR provides a challanging PvE enviornment as well as in depth PvP.

I hope this game is just like WoW, but it actually has balanced pvp. That was the downfall for WoW for me, the fact that the game was balanced towards Carebear PVE.

It`s not like WOW? the classes are nothing like WOW or the game play. Don`t expect wow 2 because it`s as far away from that as can be? it`s just like DAOC with added twists.

Dont expect a DAOC 2 either, just ask the devs, they say it isnt DAOC 2, but it does have impements from it.

Currently restarting World of Warcraft :/

I wasn't looking forward to WAR at all, it's the first mmorpg since M59 and UO that I wasn't going to buy at launch. But then MJ went and hit the community with "up front" and honest statements and I just had to take a look, remembering Mythic during DAoC's beta phase and how awesome it all came together...

Well, the more I read on WAR the more I think that it will not escape the list of games I bought at release :)

I'll probably be there on the morning of 9/18... because whether or not the game is rehashed (which I doubt), the open and honest line of communication is new and refreshing.

I loved Mythics old MUD and some of their other games, and DAoC is in my top 5 favorite mmorpgs of all time... so there's probably no reason to avoid WAR since the company rocks imo.

So count me as a convert for WAR and mark me down as a cancelation out of frustration for AoC.

    Hey Mithrandolir

when you mention Mythic's M.U.D.S. Do you mean that literally, cause my first online experience was a M.U.D.S project and company.

I also bought Meridian 59 and tried to play on dial up... oh wait... thats all we had back then.

UO was a seroius addiction for me, i met two women that i still keep in touch with since..... (omg girls! that like sex!)

Ok the sex thing was a joke... sort of.

Then after the haze has lifted... we have DAOC.... where we finally get out of Typing and jetrocket into Ventrillo. For some reason i pretty much skipped TS, i thought it was worse than typing at the time.

Then WOW, then EVE, then DAOC, then WOW.

Then AOC.... it was like that after 2 months i checked out LORTO. Heh so many bag it... its a pve dream... with a quirky pvp spin. Go check it.
