Open Beta is probably still some time away. I'm sure not even Blizzard is sure on the date. Besides even if we had a solid date, I'd put down good money on it being pushed back. There are a few things that have to happen before they can even think of an open beta 1) All classes have to have the talent system implemented. Right now only some of them do, not to mention they still need to be balanced/tweaked 2) They are completly revising the Tradeskill system, which means they are going to need to test the waters on that and see how it all pans out. They are completly getting rid of skill points, and that's a big thing to change, until that has some decent sense of normalcy, they'll stay with closed beta. 3) None of the PVP/faction award system has been implemented yet, and that's a huge and vital part of the game. They'll need to implement at least some of it so they can tweak it during open beta. Alot of people are itching and dreaming of their PVP promises so if they see nothing of it come Open Beta they'll have rabid fanboys screaming.
These are just some of the huge glaring things they'll need to address in one way shape or form before they roll into Open Beta. Knowing Blizzard they'll address all the issues and give it their trademark polish before we get to all jump in for some free action.
If blizzard follows through with it's release date(11/15/04) I would assume open beta would be available around 2 weeks before release at most. Though still we need to take into consideration that blizzard isn't very well at making estimates, especially with release dates. This game could be pushed back all the way untill january, if not longer.
In all honesty, I doubt this game will be released by the estimated time, they used the same release date as EQ2 did for a reason. Competition. While SoE rushes to release a broken game, WoW will then soon after steal a lot of their customers.
Everyone who's played EQ and swg knows what i'm talking about.
I think'll you'll find WoW wont even have an open beta. They dont need to.
Most games (eg. SWG, AC2 etc) went live incredibly buggy even though they went through months of open beta. The result of this is that most games in development now wont go through open beta, because open beta to players now means "free trial" which is pointless for the developer. Closed beta at least you get people assisting reporting bugs. Open beta is mostly used as a stress test. WoW has already done their stress test.... why do they need to go to open beta?

Why would they do Open Beta you ask? Simple, it let's everyone out there get a taste of the game, and see that it's all well good and polished. See they'll instantly increase demand by letting ANYONE join up and see what it's about. Don't think it's just about bug finding and stress testing. It's about marketing.
That would be GO2 then genius. Graphics in EQ2 own WoW. WoW is a good game, but its kinda dumbed down with its cheesy cartoons and simplified systems. EQ2 will be soooo much better.
Lying in bed, looking up at the stars, a single thought passed through my head. Where the fuc|{ is my roof.
Good graphics mean a whole lot of dog shit gameplay wise. Seriously, the simplified cartoonish graphics so many people seem to dislike it WoW actually work for it and make the work and game look quite beautiful. And since when does complicated=good I think your counting chickens before their hatched there boy. Alot of people simply dislike Everquest. Why can't people get over that.
I can't wait for WoW to come out. I was able to play in the stress test they had. I think they did an awesome job on the game. It is playable for all Types of gamers from Hardcore(on 24/7) to players who only get a few hours to play. You can still get things done and not have to wait days or weeks for a spawn. That is what I didn't like about EQ, waiting for days on end for something to spawn or waiting for someone else to leave so you can get a chance to get somehting accomplished. It looks like they are going to do the same thing with EQ2 and if so then I will not be playing it. I did sign up to try and get a spot for EQ2 beta to see if you can get stuff accomplished in a short period of time so we will see. Until then I am going with WoW.
To me the graphics are not what makes the game but the quality of play is.

hmm, EQ2 is dumbed down even more...won't be able to decide anything (except race and class) by yourself.
