Starport Idling

There needs to be some way to prevent bad-rep people from idling in a starport as a way to hide in safety. Perhaps if you are in a starport for an hour or more, it treats you as if you were in the inn and charges you accordingly. Or, if you're -1k or worse rep it kicks you out and bans you from entering that port for 6 hours or so?

Obviously you are new to this game so I'll try and be nice to you. First off hiding in a starport is one of the few ways for new players or anyone for that matter to protect themselves from say a convoy of npcs on your tail, following you through multiple systems and firing on you while you scream for your life. Sorry to tell you but if you are inside a starport for an hour or more you get taxed the normal amount the inn there would cost. Yet another thing is if you have a really low rep, you can't sleep at the starports anyways; so either way, evil people can't hide for very long unless they want to be charged money and/or eventually kicked out. So all and all your post was a complete waste of your time. Hope that helps.

I did specifically say bad-rep people, so a 'newbie' with a convoy of reds on them would still be fine. And yes, they do get kicked out after an hour, but there's nothing preventing them from re-entering immediately. The problem is that it's almost completely impossible to destroy a ship with a halfway decent pilot in ship-to-ship combat since it's so easy to run and hide, and that makes it very hard to retaliate against some of the nastier griefers in the game. Sure, they can't touch me really, but I can't kill them either unless I find 'em logged off. I want to be able to have real ship-to-ship fights to the end, instead of only ever inconclusive few-shots-and-run.

Yes i agree that the pvp combat really sucks simply because if either party is low on shields they just run to the adjacent starport and fill up or log out. Come to think of it, i have a solution. Don't hate me for suggesting this but maybe there should be a rule that doesn't allow you to log out/enter a port for 10 (subject to change) seconds after combat. That would prevent people with 100 shields from running whenever it was "convenient" for them to run and hide/buy shields. Just a thought. Any posts from other people on this issue would be great.
