pre-ordering

I've never pre-ordered a game before so I don't really know what it means and what I have to do.

If i pre-order from www.direct2drive.co.uk, what do I get?

I know that I get Beta Access codes, but with pre-ordering they send you the retail boxt too or what?

Can somebody explain me what pre-ordering exactly is.

Thanks in advance

It depends what you pre order, if you pre order a Digital Download then no you wont get a boxed copy.

When you purchase WAR from d2d.co.uk, you'll get a confirmation and that is all (at the moment). In place of where the download link should be is a 'preordered' image. This image will be replaced with a download link in a few days, closer to the 7th (when 'open' beta starts). You will get a beta code sent to you via email (to the email address you supplied) which you'll have to use to gain access to the beta. You will eventually also be sent a retail code, which you'll use to confirm your purchase upon release of the game on the 18th (and there is a 7 day period to allow you to do this).

    ---------------------------
Will play: not WAR, HELLO KITTY ONLINE!!11one

    Playing: EVE

Played: EQ (+all expansions too), Asheron''s Call 2, Anarchy Online, Planet Side, EQ2, WoW (+TBC), EVE

Pre-ordering means you get a code to let you download the open beta client, use it and upgrade it to retail then play retail 4 days early (if you buy the pre-order packaged with a retail copy). open beta starts 6th september ish then your character gets whiped and you start again on 18th september (ish).

If you pay for a pre-order & game (such as what direct2drive is offering) you receive the pre-order code before 6th september and then a retail key on or before 18th september.

If you do the above from a company like gamestop then you will receive your retail key in a sealed box with your dvd. direct2drive will just send you a key.

You can pre-order on its own for as little as $1 but you will not be able to play past the end of open beta (your char gets deleted and you cant play after 18th sept or just before).

Open beta acsess, live game head start, two bonus in-game items, ccg demo deck is what you get. No retail box only codes. The money you put down for the preorder goes towards the cost of the retail box.

You dont put down any money when you pre order online.  Only Brick n Morter stores make you do that.

Hmm I just noticed that they only way too pay there is by creditcard and I don't even have a creditcard so I need a new pre-order site where I can pre-order the european version, so if you have a site could you post it for me?

Check www.War-Europe.com  they should have a list of all affliate stores online and offline wise that are participants in the pre order program for Europe (which Netherlands is apart of).  You'll most likely have to order from a regular store if you do not have a credit card.

Hmm eastore.com says I have to pay the full price when I pre-order it?

Yes, but you don't get beta codes here at the normal store or at bol.com, so that's fucked up

No store especially an online one charges your account before they have the item to send to you.  They take your information to gaurentee that you're ready to pay but tey don't charge you until the item is ready to ship.   Online business's would ultimately fail if they charged people for items that weren't available. Their system will reflect you've made the order and the final price but they don't charge you.

Its really not rocket science pre ordering of items from books to music to games online ahve been done this way for nearly 10 years now.

btw if you dont have a credit card you can forget pre ordering online unless the store accepts paypal.
