I don't have anything against people doing whatever they like, aslong they don't bother other people and honestly this whole multiboxing thing is VERY lame, I just have encounter this in WoW when 6 shaman's attacked me at the same time, I did not have a chance to fight back.
I definitely hope that Mythic find a way to Ban this from WAR, although is going to be hard because is not Illegal and it give more money to the company, but sometimes it ruins the game for some of us, although it happens very few times.
Not trying to bash or anything, but how you can defend your self when 6 shamans hit you 2k each in 1 sec and you have 10k of hp with decent gear.
your post is very hard to comprehend because you disguise it as an academic text but really it's just giberrish, you talk about video game communities like it's supposed to be some sort of Baudrillard text analysis here, right after you made several attacks on people you know nothing about other than they multi box video games, using language like 'dumbface' and 'scum'. I mean you are either really deranged from your anger over something as meaningless as someone two boxing two wizard toons, or you are some sort of troll, having a laugh out of all this and enjoying the attention.
Anyway, got to run.
I guess the bottom line to my question is we won't really know how multiboxing happens with WAR (or not) until it launches.
I hope even if they have multiboxers they are at least vulnerable to attack on lock the healbots left in keeps in old DAoC. Personally I find their behavior annoying and a cancer to sense of community online gaming used to have however they have the right to play the game their way until the company changes the rules and I have the right to hate them. See its a win win situtation they get to play the game their way and and get to put my hate on them for whatever is annoying me that week.
Hensenliros, your post is very hard to comprehend because you disguise it as an academic text but really it's just giberrish, you talk about video game communities like it's supposed to be some sort of Baudrillard text analysis here, right after you made several attacks on people you know nothing about other than they multi box video games, using language like 'dumbface' and 'scum'. Baudrillard text analysis? Are you really that ignorant? I don't disguise it in any academic way, sorry if you didn't understand the post as a whole. If you can't understand that you people are as low as scammers and brute forcers, who take advantage of the developer's need to submit to economics, then your ignorance are absolutely plain and supreme. The latter posters said it as well, how can people not see that paying more in order to have a group instead of a character isn't appropriate? You seem to lack any sense to the point of thinking that MMO's are simply online games. I'm not saying that they're supposed to hire sociologists and philosophers in order to form a outstanding community system, but when people like you take advantage of economics and ruin other's people experience, the least the company can do is letting us kill, steal, scam and blacklist you. Only the latter two being possible on non-pvp games.
As I presumed before, you now just enforced my idea that you're barely a unexperienced young player who doesn't know how scamming groups/ brute forcers work. Specially now that all that the best you could do is a troll post saying "you know nothing either you're a troll or you're a pissed off guy". You should be playing single player games. You aren't apt do play community games, and I'd say that you're not apt to use forums either.

Not sure if Mythic implemented any kind of control against boxing.
Unlikely. The only thing that would work, in general would be multiple logins from the same IP address and that would block folks from having friends and family playing in the same location. I think Mythic will have (has) the 'if they want to play 2..let them' attitude, knowing all the while that 2 boxing might be implement with some difficulty (to make it workable on a moment to moment basis) but overall it's not going to be someothing most folks are going to want to bother with.
Hello, I am interested in getting WAR, and I was wondering if anyone has any sort of info about the capacity of this game to be played by dual boxing 2 or more characters by having 2 or more accounts obviously. Has anyone tried it, I know it's hard to, because most testers have only 1 beta account, but maybe you tried it in the open event or with a friend's account or whatever. Also do you know about Mythic's stance towards multi-boxers? All the other MMO companies are friendly to dual boxing, but you never know. Thank you very much.
A multiboxer buys 2 games, pays 2 monthly fees. No, mythic will not be against multiboxers. No company will do. They may try to make your life little harder cose of "fair play" thingy, but im sure you will be able to do it. Just because it would be stupid to not allow it.
I personally don't see the problem with multiboxing.
It's not breaking any eula/agreement, so whatever floats ya boat i guess.
Slightly related is how when i play WoW as a hybrid I get grief in AV if i don't heal. I play the game how I want to play regardless of what others think. You don't raid as holy 5 days a week to get a big shiny axe only to have to heal in battlegrounds. I pay the subscription, so my game my rules
Well, that's the first time I've been called a scum for my playstyle in a video game, guess there must be a first for everything in life.
Last time I checked we still live in a secular capitalist society ('we' in the western world) so my choice to pay and get more out of an entertainment service outweighs your lunatic rants about utopian egalitarian virtual societies.
I mean, seriously, you are really deranged if you really attempt to apply your egalitarian ethics in an entertainment industry sector that is built from the bottom up as a consumer product/service
PS. I can see the mods are already editing your posts, you should really get a hint here.

PvE I could see multibox not being much of a problem. But, honestly, you don't really need to multibox for PvE. All classes can solo pretty well. When it comes to RvR, I don't see how multiboxing would be possible. Too chaotic.
"There is as yet insufficient data for a meaningful answer."
Like some others mentioned, there's really no need to multi-box in WAR. For PvE, you can complete nearly any quest solo, with the exception being the dungeon ones. The same thing applies for PvE mobs, you can solo the majority of them (often 3+ at a time), except for some champs and I'd say all heroes.
You'd be able to do a lot of PQs up until the Hero stage, but if you can't finish it, what's the point? Same thing for Battlefield Objectives, you'll most likely not be able to down the hero in the later Tiers, but you'd be able to take the T1's since they are only guarded by champs (you'll quickly outlevel T1 anyhow.)
The only time I could see it being a boon is if your group or guild needed another player to fill a group to go dungeon diving, complete PQs or take BOs/Keeps. An extra healer for heroes or caster for AEing would be helpful but as always, a bot is never as good as a competent player. If you're just going to run around with your characters and not join a group, then I don't see you getting much benefit from it.
For RvR, if people notice you multi-boxing in a scenerio, I'm quite certain you're going to be very disliked. The action is face-paced and having one person out of 12 or 18 being a bot, you're going to hurt your team. If that causes you to lose, then you're wasting your time and a lot of other peoples'. In open field RvR, that's your call, but don't add your bot to a warband. Again, you'd be taking a slot that a non-bot could really use. I die enough playing just one character (which the tips of the day kindly remind you is natural) but I imagine that multi-boxing is going to cause more headaches than just playing one.
I doubt Mythic would have anything against you doing so, that would be foolish for many reasons. The game is just designed in a way that you don't need to (and for reasons above, the community would frown upon it in many situations.) I 3-boxed long ago in EQ because it was necessary, especially being a morning player and groups/resses being rare. I have no desire to do so in WAR and I haven't seen anything that would make it necessary. You could argue about the lower player count in the mornings, but do you really want to be in a game where Objectives are captured by bot teams when fewer people are on? Once the game goes live and players flush out evenly into the tiers, I don't think it should be hard to find a group to take those things.
Well, that's the first time I've been called a scum for my playstyle in a video game, guess there must be a first for everything in life.
It depence how you would use the dual boxing. If you would use the second charater to support you first in RvR and only would use it for this purpose (A healer only healing your main for exemple). Then I would consider it the playstyle selfish. Still not against it though, especialy if used in PvE. I could understand if you would have a healer healing as much as he can, but focusing on the main and maybe keep a few spells (Like one instant heal and the res spell) for the purpose of supporting you main. This however I understand will be a challenge.
I really do not care...if you are destruction that would just mean one more of you to kill for me :P and in PvP it would not make a big difference either, pretty sure that both poeple will have them and thus not giving any side a big advantage duo to this. Infact, if played wrong it might even harm the team your fighting with.
In RVR you can try it, but i assure you , you won t like it. It is way to chaotic and things happen so fast you ll be pulling out your hair (if you have any left , i know i don t). Anyways yes it s possible, effective i ll say no.
This topic was brought up on the beta boards a while back.
A general concensus was made that it would be close to impossible to be an effective 2-boxer in WAR due to the amount of abilities at your disposal. This isn't wow where you can get away with using 2-4 abilities. You can quite regularly use 15 abilities in a giving battle.
You have to realize most of the community views 2 boxers with a little distain and therefor will respond in kind. However, I will try to objectively answer based on my Beta experience.
There are certain situations where 2 boxing may work for menial chores and PvE content, as long as you go vanilla with skills and classes. However, muhc of the questing and RvR is rewarded on contribution. Which means unlike other games where you get rewards for completeing a task, you are charged with completing it well in Warhammer in order to really thrive. I do not see that being possible. Since its not a game where sitting around killing the same spawn over and over gets you very far, I do not see much benefit from 2 boxing. Furthermore,I see it as nothing more then a means to give you opponents free renown points in RvR as it is too quick paced to 2 box.

Maybe you should try getting in touch with the game community once in a while and I bet you'll be called scum many other times. I must admit that your post surprises me, it shows me that you're more alienated and narrow-minded than I thought. Also proves that you didn't read any of my posts, or at least couldn't understand them. Any 9th grade kid would know that I'm not saying about a egalitarian system, even less of an utopia. Maybe you should learn to read better and see that I mentioned "current ethics" on one of my latter posts. Do you know what happens when a person goes on scamming other people (not talking about MMO's, real world here)? Most of the times the law can't do anything against him (depends on the country/ state). Then some scammed people take some attitudes about that, like harassing the scammer or releasing its personal information to the public. Some years ago a shocking event happened in my country: a 30 years old guy had relations with a 18 years old girl and posted some pictures on websites and such. Law did nothing. Local communities started to complain as the case became more and more famous, and some weeks later we started to see some paper pieces glued on public phones with his personal information, including his parent's phone number, his home adress, work adress, etc. Weeks later he hang himself, and the media said that his parents informed that their phones kept ringing 24/7 with verbal harassments, their son would often get visits at his home and get spanked and he even got fired and couldn't get accepted at other jobs.
What I'm saying is the community has a harassment and rejection ability against cancers, something that there isn't on many online games. You take advantage of that, just like scammers and gold sellers. I can't even count how much gold I got from multiboxers on Ultima Online, just by getting their houses, scamming, etc. More than 2.000$ worth of items and gold for sure.
You mean nothing on PvP. Never meant and never will. Just a plain retarded player who lacks teamplay to join a pvp party and goes with his 10 buff-bots running after solo players. Then you face 10 wandering players and.. you become 10 loots, 10 pvp points, or whatever the game mechanics offers. You can only have sucess on ganking lone players, and most of the times multiboxers feel skilled and good by doing that. But on community and PvE you're a total cancer for the points I mentioned before.
Even after failing to understand what I'm saying and thinking I mean anything related to a egalitarian utopia, you also failed at describing "our" society. Societies aren't simply compound of a economical system. Following your poor logic that says capitalism supports you, it also would mean that capitalism supported nazism. And no information you provided would make that proposition a sofism. That would mean nazism is right for the same reasons you are. And my point has nothing to do about you paying more to have more entertainment, smartface. It has to do with paying more than another people and ruining their experience because of that. Like going on a kart race and paying an employee to make the your car go faster. Just please don't you make yourself of an ignorant being and say that this doesn't affect negatively other players, because there are several reasons (competition as the game's idea, physics problems - your car unabling other to move sometimes -, etc).
And why wouldn't capitalism support gold selling? Does that make gold selling right? I think not.
I'm not trying to apply my ideas to the entertainment industry. Origin already sucessfuly did it 10 years ago. They didn't do it randomly. Maybe if you were less alienated from the gaming scene you would know that: going to conferences and personaly talking with some developers would give you some insight. I heard hatred being shown by multiboxers by developers on rare ocasions myself, all of them on informal conversations.
It really seems you fail to see that your behavior really bothers some people. And worse, to cause despise upon you by many. Most of the times seem by as weak as the "gold plzz" type of players.
You cause me no derangement at all. Even without perma death and full looting, multiboxers still are vulnerable to scamming and emotional harassments on games like Warhammer, and that is enough for me, and calming for a lot of people. Being a hypocrite and ignorant being is another matter, though. How many multiboxers have I seen whining on boards beause of things like that! "I wasn't accepted by guild X because I said I multiboxed! This is prejudice so I'm reporting them all!", "Mosts GM's help players who are reskilled but I didn't get any help when me and my bot were camped for 30 mins!! Reported!!, "I was doing instances with 12 characters single-handedly, got disconnected and all my accounts got banned for gold selling?? I'm suing this company!!". All you people get is despise and laugh.
Lastly, could you please point where a mod edited my post, troll? Other than 2 or 3 posts ago, I mean.

You are really a funny character. Your emotional attachement to what you call video game communities, and the fact that you throw hissy fits over a simple fact that some people pay and play multiple accounts at the same time are more than enough proof by now to me that you are truly some sort of psychotic being.
By generalising and calling scum and trying to associate people who just pay fees for multiple accounts to all sorts of criminal activity, shows that you are so enthralled in your own little twisted virtual realities (be it in video games or whatever) that your capacity to accept something different to what you consider as universally 'ethical' is totally distorted : you just made parallels to people paying for video games to nazism You condemned scamming then went on to brag how you scammed multi-boxing players for 2k dollars or something One of your original posts got edited because you were all out with the name calling and swearing, you just pointed it out yourself and then you call me a troll
I will not respond anymore, thx for the feedback again to all the posters, the reason I post now is that it truly amazes me that video games can consume so much someone's capacity for rational thinking and reasoning, transforming them into some sort of rabid hatemonger. I will save your posts hensenliros because you truly amaze me: how much hate can come from someone that feels that his little own virtual bubble is threatened, a true sign of a deranged mind from computer games if I ever saw one.
And lastly, because I think you took my comment about us living in capitalist society totally the wrong way, I meant that the corporations that design and publish video games do it for the profit, and for that reason they are tolerant if not open welcoming to people who opt to buy/pay for multiple accounts for their product/services, just look at Blizzard's and wow's latest promo campaign that offers 300% xp rate at people getting multiple accounts, an obvious opening to multiboxers.
That's it, thanks again to the other posters for their civility and feedback, I actually learned alot from your posts (like the macro-system, how PQs work, etc) so having to endure this psychotic drivel from hensenliros wasn't a complete waste of time .
Pfff, you are so right Dosas. Seems someone is taking something a little too serious. Personally I also dislike seeing obvious multiboxers running around in 'my' RPG, when playing on a RP server, that is. But it's only a minor annoyance and I realize that the ways in which people get their fun out of a game can really differ between players. *shrugs*
I need to say nothing, you showed yourself how dumb you are and how unable you were to understand a single line of my post. I showed that out of your poor and garbage-like logic I could make this parallel, but only out of your logic. I also explained that people should be able to suprass ethics as a last resource when it doesn't work properly, that explains more than better my scamming on your scum people. My post didn't get edited by insult, don't pretend you read it before it was edited, smartass.
Congratulations for thinking that Blizzard is the only MMO company that exists on the market and assuming it as a great representation. Also congratulations for not being able to understand anything that is more complex than "I give money I get advantage" system.
Lastly, congratulations for thinking that any human being that reads books and knows ethics is a psychotic. And you call me psychotic only because you couldn't understand my simplified posts with your undeveloped mind! I would love to know what you would say about me after knowing that I graduated in philosophy and nuclear engineering. Maybe you should ask yourself how twisted and psychotic this "society" (that you say that supports you so much) can be after knowing that it pays almost 120 grand per year to your deranged and psychotic friend that didn't even get his master's degree yet? And that just for some nuclear safety reports?
Maybe you should think on whose side "society" is at. You even said you had lack of free time! Sorry, I don't know what that is. I guess it's no use giving a post-college text to a school kid and expect understanding. At least you people make no difference, because if you had to writte constitutions, formulate ethics, use logic and research.. we wouldn't have gotten past stone age.

I agree with most of what you have said, sadly money talks you know? I dislike multis as much as you do but I know that me blowing up will do nothing to prevent the mess of MMOs it is destined to create nor will it help to sort it later.
On the otherhand I also know what it isto get fed up, lose my cool, and need to vent (besides, I already did my venting on this one long ago when most people still hid the fact they multibox out of fear of being banned).

You wouldn't agree in saying that your obvious dislike, to put it mildly, for that small minority of players that enjoys dual or multi boxing is a little,... just a tad,... exaggerated?
*waits for a reply, thinks again and runs off. Far, far away from nutty professor*
Your best bet for multi boxing here would be 2x bright wizards or sorcs. nukers in all games work much better in groups because its important to get the kill before the mob gets to you, so double killing speed sometimes means more than double XP speed (less time healing ect)
in PvE healing simply isn't important enough to 2box outside of boss mobs, or healers themselves don't need someone else to do the killing for them. sure you can't tank a PQ boss on your own, but most normal mobs you can go around killing one after the other without any healing support.
in PvP healing felt like a full time job, at least to be effective. not something you could 2box like in say... Lineage2 (greater quickheal spam ftl).
Also the game is closer to WoW as far as buffs go. no one class gets a lot of buffs, so buffbots are mostly useless.
So if you really want to play a melee DPS or tank, I suggest you 2box a.... nuker for added DPS. and if you want to play a nuker I suggest you 2box a...nother nuker. or on the off chance you want to play a healer... try 2boxing a nuker. yeah... sounds right.
Not to offend, but I personally think that 2boxing can ruin a game. Lineage2 was mostly destroyed by it because certain classes could mostly be boxed out of party, so you could get buffs without losing XP to a buffer. but this meant people rarely played the class (who could actually group one?) and max levels of those classes were few and far between. Warhammer however I don't see this being a game breaker.
I'll suggest you don't 2box at all, the game really won't give you as much return on it as many others. but thats just my opinion from a few weeks of play.
Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.
I never had an opinion about boxing until i had a guildmate in EQ2 who did it all the time. He played a tank and a healer and did very well with it. Having him as a chum was awesome, he knew so much more about the game than the average player and he was always very willing to help us out as a guild. He never broke the EULA, and as long as you don't break the rules, box all you like!

Hensenliros,
your post is very hard to comprehend because you disguise it as an academic text but really it's just giberrish, you talk about video game communities like it's supposed to be some sort of Baudrillard text analysis here, right after you made several attacks on people you know nothing about other than they multi box video games, using language like 'dumbface' and 'scum'.

Edit: This post is an answer to hensenliro, to everyone else thx for your feedback and your civility

No reason to dual box in PvE.
Two or more bright wizards focusing fire on one target might be interesting.

*shrugs*
My brand new bloggity blog.

My brand new bloggity blog.
wow, a lot of hate in here, oh well.
Behave please. If you two have issues with each other then take it up in PMs, but don't get snipey with each other.
If they want to pay $50 per copy of the game and pay $15 a month per subscription, I don't care if people multibox/dualbox.
I do believe if they go RvR, and opposing Realm see a multiboxer, I am sure the multiboxer would single out quickly.
