MMO games played or tested: EQ, DAoC, Archlord, Auto Assault, CoH, CoV, EQ2, EVE, Guild Wars, Hellgate: London, Linneage II, LOTRO, MxO, Planetside, SWG, Sword of the New World, Tabula Rasa, Vanguard, WWIIOL, WOW, Age of Conan
Really a shame to see so many people listing Ac2 on their top 5 lists. It is still my favorite with its rich story, great dungeon design, the best quests of any MMO ever, and basically a sandbox end game style.
Also seeing Horizons on the list is disappointing. While I never subscribed to it I could see it was crafted with many new ideas in mind.

I think it's just because it closed shop. That created a lot of hard feelings towards the game. Wish I had played it because I've heard many people loved it.
techinally it was the last Community person ..... konou had nothing to do with it...
Well had I said Community Manager, it would have been fairly obvious whom I was referring to. I know full well the parties responsible. Thanks for sidestepping my entire point as to reference a technicality; you could have at least acknowledged agreement to the actual premise.^^
i agree what happened was epic, and that it was a big part of history for this site. But we need to move on, dwelling on the past and what a loser what-his-face is, really isnt helping or accomplishing anything, we've said everything that needs to be said, most of the evidence in that one thread is no longer available because the mourning site went down. And i understand now, who you were talkin about
Ive been visiting this site weekly since 2003. I have no idea what you guys are talking about in reference to this "epic" tale of some game.
Since there is a best 5 mmorpgs in other post, may as well pick the worst 5 mmorpgs from your past experience. Mines are 1) Age of Conan (played for 5 days) 2) Star Wars Galaxy 3) Asheron's Call 2 4) Shadowbane 5) Hellgate: London
What's yours?
EDIT: We should only post non-free ones, the games must either has a retail box or a sub plan. This will keep the list focus. (Yes, there are a LOT of bad free money/xp grind mmo with cash shops out there)
So AoC is actually the worst MMO on the market huh? Worse than every free MMO, every Korean MMO, Hello Kitty, and every piece of trash that nobody even plays? Your bias is blatant, it is like saying that sony makes the worst electronics in the world, when there are cheap knock offs, poorly made chinese products with no warranty, and other large companies making garbage as well.

Hahaha. Yeah that's right. It's his list so he can put whatever games he wants in his 5 worst MMO's. Deal with it buddy. You can make up your list however the hell you want.
Age of Conan - I wanted to like this game and meet the requirements but the technical problem via the gray map and stuck on loading after that gray map error just sucks the fun right out for me. All complemented in a nice pause and error send report on login.
World of Warcraft (semi quasi) - The community actually destroys that game but Blizzard put the materialistic gear grinds to aid in community attitude. This helps guilds on the power trips and to squeeze in DKP if you don't want it. Loot being the dominant gear aquisition method doesn't help.
Everquest 2 - Another with too much materialism. To complement the package it comes with also having to upgrade your spells via player made Adept III's and looted Masters that players can also rip you off with.
Pirates of the Burning Sea - This cruise around the Carribean drifts in at number 4 on my list because of the ship lost when you lose that final durability point on your ship. I'll take corpse runs and experience lost, no level loss however, thank you very much instead of losing your item you've put money into. Players like to rip each other off in MMOs enough already thank you very much and that was the final straw for me.
Dark Age of Camelot - This one trumpets in at number 5 because in the 2 attempts I've tried to play it I've always fallen asleep on it the first day. I like good music in my MMOs and the music in that game is always good for a nap time inducer. (Yes I like video game music and don't have my sound off)
So many MMOs though it's really hard to make such a list.
Edit: Just wanted to add disagreement to AC2 being on the list for some. It was my first MMO though but it's the only one where I had an exploration feel that was fun and the cutscenes after vault completion was nice too.
Horizons - tried this briefly, long download time for a game thats so full of performance bugs.
WoW - It was the community and dated graphics that did it for me.
Neocron - The community and the graphics were what did it here too especially the scenery as it was all different shades of brown.
Guildwars - Not a true MMO and the community was disgusting.
Second Life - It would be easier to list what was good about this one [ the fact its easy to uninstall].
Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981
5 - Lord of the Rings Online: I really hate this game.. Mainly because the dwarf models are way too weird, kinda too small or something. 4 - Dark Age of Camelot: This game is pure crap. I mean, look at the Midgard trool's model! Is it made of rock or something? Pure suckage. 3 - Guild Wars: Seriously now, what game uses gold color for rare items and GREEN for unique?? This makes me feel so disappointed at how childish the developers must be in order to do something like that, just to confuse their customers. I hate it. 2 - Ultima Online: Second worst... Just look at the hairstyles, specially the elven ones. How can people play a game like that?? On top of that there are weird elven skin colors. Really sucks hard. 1 (most hated) - Wolrd of Warcraft: Worst game EVER. The developers were SO DUMB that they couldn't program a proper teleport travel system, so they made those 10 minutes lasting boat travels and gryphons. This is the most powerful and complete symbol of lack of programming skills of some developers.
I just LOL at the WoW comment.. of all the reasons to hate a game LOL!
techinally it was the last Community person ..... konou had nothing to do with it...

Ive been visiting this site weekly since 2003. I have no idea what you guys are talking about in reference to this "epic" tale of some game.
Mourning, was and will forever be the worst possible scenario that the MMORPG genre can create. The reason it should be remembered is so that no other con artists and scammers will think they can come into this industry and steal money from gamers, designers, or investors.
Best possible evidence of how easy it is to fake it in this industry by using the so called "media", which will bow down to anyone with a news worthy story, and leave untouched. If this isn't remembered then it will be much worse the next time around.
I don't like any mmorpgs currently out and naming a worst is hard because they're all complete crap. So I'll name the ones that pised me off the most so sure there are much worse mmorpgs out there and these are probably the best of all the mmorpgs out there, just so happens that they are also the ones that made me the most angry.
- PotBS: Didn't make me feel like a pirate
- EVE: Too repetitive and boring, just the same thing again and again to get money with no variety in gameplay, I also think the community were complete twats, just full of people insulting eachother on local.
- DnL: I don't understand how this game got soo much hype before it was released.
- EQ: Sure it has the rep of bing the first big 3D mmorpg but doesn't stop the game from being shit today.
- EQ2: Rushed from beta but it coulda been good, instead SOE turned the game into crap.
- LOTRO: Nowhere near as good as it should have been, Turbine really fucked up.
- SWG: SOE just destroid this game.
- UO: Horrible Horrible combat mechanics.
- Vanguard: Generic and ugly.
- DAOC: The game was just dead when I tried to play.
Wow a lot of the responses here are just stupid. I will at least justify mine with good reasoning and awknowledge that they could have gotten better since I last played.
5) Archlord - Buggy and strange and not pretty to look at, at all. In fact I heard they made it free to play just because it was so bad and they need to get some players. Doesn't see it lasting long
4) Vanguard: Saga of Heroes - I've heard it gotten better but the fact of the matter was it had a lot of promise that is didn't live up to and that was shame. It was buggy and even the content they included wasn't finished. MMOs are always a work in progress but you should at least finish the content you have in the game or it's well.. unfinished and sloppy.
3) Tabula Rasa - Boring and bland. I appreciate what they set out to do but I feel they failed big time. I was bored after an hour of play time. It was extremely repetitive right off the bat. And yeah the MMO was not pretty to look at and the races were just humans except with different colored skin. It seemed lazy and rushed.
2) D&D: Online - Leveling was insanely slow. That could be okay however there was nowhere never enough content and therefore you had to do the same dungeons over and over and over AND over again just to get anywhere. The targeting system and controls were also a mess which i hear has been updated to some extent.
1) Runescape - It's ugly to look at and just very messy as far as gameplay and questing. I realize it was kind of groundbreaking in being one of the first free MMOs that you could just download.. but that time has come and passed and so should this game with so many better options out there.
People who should be discredited are anything who puts World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, Lord of the Rings, or City of Heroes/Villans as they are the top of todays entertainmnet. Even if you didn't like that or are sick of the fanbois that they produce they are by no means the WORST MMOs out there. Unless they're the only one's you've played in which case you don't know.
Also I could see people putting Final Fantasy XI on their worst list but I have to say if you played back when it first game out it was pretty amazing with one of the best communities in MMO history. Everyone was friendly and it was a very exciting and addictive game. Though if you looked at it today you would probably just see it as outdated and lacking in the graphics.

Before you start assasinating somebody's character for puting a game on the list you might want to take that you're playing a particular game off of view. In your case against me it's WoW. That can actually hurt your credibility instead.
The OP asked what was the worst MMOs to each person. So these are the worst MMOs to me currently. One poster has specified current and past though.
I've played AC2, Dungeon Runners briefly, LOTRO, CoV, briefly Tabula Rasa, and have SWG and Vanguard on Station Pass. So the five I listed weren't the only MMOs I've played. I am by no means the new nor the oldest player around the block.

Did you drink the Funcom Kool-Aid? If so, we better get you to a Doctor!
2) Phantasy Star Online Episode I & III liked it as an offline console game, but as an MMO the only thing it was ever good for was for GameCube homebrew. Also for making a console MMO that you have to pay to play, and then porting it to different consoles and then segregating the different console versions to their own servers. Also for the ridiculous "symbol chat".
3) Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II PlusWaste of money for those who already have the original on GameCube. Also useless for making homebrew.
1) SWG - The patches were a bane to the community. After the patches the community became an evil influence on everything they touched... wait, I think that was also about the time the word 'troll' started being reinvented.
2) Fung Wang Online - Extremely good PvP, one of a kind. The problem was that the game after beta was made exclusively for the asian market. If it had a publisher for the American/European market it'd I guarantee you be the very best PvP game of all time.
3) Vanguard - Unlimited potential, but without true gamer type employees, all ideas got scrapped. The game went from flop, to floppier, and is trying to return. Nonetheless it's like a fish out of water, will never stop flopping until it finally dies.
4) RF Online - Good base game, decent concept. After numerous hacks and exploits the game went from little skill, to who can become the race leader and hook up a ton of duped equipment to their race.
5) 9Dragons - No support, no updates. Nerfs for non-exploiting options rolled in from the developer to the publisher. Accalim did nothing and sat with their fingers in their bums. Way to go Acclaim, can't stand up for yourselves what so ever can you?
1) Wow 2) Age of Conan 3) Guild Wars 4) Everquest 2 5) LOTRO
So what you're really saying just about every popular game on the market. Wow you're cool!
My list:
1. Saga of Ryzom one of the worst buggiest games I have ever played in my life.
2. Horizons: Do I really need to elaborate
3. Shadowbane: Lots of great concepts too bad the game play was weak.
4. FFXI: This has more to do with a personal distaste for any game where the only clear gender barrier is the race that doesn't have a female option. That and I dislike having to group for everything little darn thing I want to do.
5. Planetside: Sure after the game was around for a while they fixed the server lag and evened up the servers a bit more, but that wasn't the case when I played it. That and no matter how much the jazz it up the game still feels like an uninspired tribes clone with a monthly fee.
On the hype on dnl it was mostly the promises by the company which turned out to be false, the promoting of the game and the fact the name is dark and light think about it.
Comments
someone add POTBS to the list
1.) DDO
2.) PoTBS
3.) Auto Assault
4.) Linneage II
5.) WOW

Well I don't have a "worse" list cause I think most of those games listed to the left are everquest clones, but my favorite is wwiionline.

Sword of the new world Granado espada, or as I like to call it Grind of the new world Grindodo Espada
Shaya online
12 sky
World of kung fu
Dungeon Runners
I don't even consider browser based games mmos so I don't put runscape up there but if i did it would be #2.

1) SWG- Post ghay/SoE
2)AoC, It had so much promise, but was disapointing.
3) Vanguard, again this had promise but didnt do particularely well.
4) Disney Pirates MMO- sellout duches try to use whatever fame a film series has and abuse it.

Rated from worst to lease worst.
1. Dark and Light..
2. SWG.
3. WoW (not for the game but what it has done to the community)
4. Planetside.
5 Shadowbane.
pirates of the carribean( i played for like 10 mins haha)
DAoC(same for like 10 mins)
the rest i played weren't half bad
