So whats wrong with the game....

Maybe I didnt follow it through development or something but this game does what it says on the box. The one thing I hated about other mmorpgs is that you sit back and relax while you destroy shit. At least here you have to acutally move you hand more that 1 every min. But still I just got the game two days ago. Maybe someone can shine some light on whats so wrong with it please. And also for the fanboys what is a good pvp sever to join.

you'll see after lvl 40, and goodluck.  tortage was fun though

I have not played the game yet but from what i can gather its an "unfinished game" which many AoC'ers claim. No real end content and the sieging is missing.

    You aren't making sense.

On one hand you seem very much aware that many people have been talking about the problems with the game for a while now. But on the other you claim to be completely oblivious to what those things are, and are actually requesting people to list them yet again.

If you have seen all the threads saying there are problems with the game, then you already have what you need to answer your question.  So why ask again here?

Was just wondering why people are still moaning about what it was gonna be instead what it is now. That was beta right? Things change it seems fine to me right now. But im still open. Like i said ive only had it for 2 days I was just wondering whats so wrong with it. If you know I would really appreciate it if you would tell me so I can brace myself for it. Does that clear it up?

To Answer your post heading you should be asking "What is not wrong with this game?".  The answer to that being lvl 1-20, after that just about everything is wrong with this game.  Low server populations, end game content being non-existent, worthwhile pvp being non-existent and not fun, I played a ranger to lvl 80, canceled my account recently, and the sad thing is after all this time, tons of my skills were still very much broken, some still not having worked since release.

I could go on and on and on, I really looked forward to this game, played to 80 and then was hopeful things would change, and they did, only for the worse.  Populations on all PvP servers are bottomed out, while not being able to tell you which to play on I can tell you NOT to play on Doomsayer as its pretty much a ghost town.

No, most of the complaints and hatred emerged AFTER launch.  Probably a week after or so once many players had moved out of tortage.

Ok thank you Crysent. Thats all I wanted. Being at a such a low lvl I havent ran into those problems yet.

it is very buggy.  funcom promised pvp patches that are still yet to happen.  there is no pvp xp.  siege warfare is very buggy.  there are several quest that are bugged. i have not played in awhile but while i played some of the classes were bugged.  itemization is non existant.  it is intstanced far to much.  i heard the memory leak is better, but not sure.  the memory leak would boot you every 30-45mins. all that said i wish funcom woul've just been honest. i would still be playing.

i would suggest cimmeria actually, i rolled a ranger there a couple days back and its fairly populated still. it also has a more positive outlook on the fate of the game (probably due to it not being a ghost town).

I dont think there is a memory leak anymore. I played for like 3 hours without anything happening the other day. I guess the Instances dont bother me much. But thank you for not flaming me and posting!

Cool thanks man I will check it out. My name will be Unisist on there. What is your name so we can give each other a shout.

the memory leak is still there, i can play for most of the day if i have my settings to low or medium...but the instant i set it to high (with the known culprits turned off of course) i can't get in more than an hour without a crash. to be honest, the crashes are not game breaking. but it kinda sucks that the game plays fairly poorly when the majority of us crank it up a bit to see the sexy graphics. overall, funcom has developed a very nice conan themed screenshot taker for those of us that aren't running a top of the line computer.

I think the main problems are that they made a beautiful game with no depth and lastability.

The pvp is 4 months after release still broken and even with their latest patches will still be broken.

The pve dungeons are boring and bugged beyound belief. The copy paste trash on your way to a bugged boss is......last minute desperate designing.

The crafting is the worse in any game to date, even the fanboys wont argue with that.

There is no economy and they make more problems with their patching than they fix. 2 steps forward 3 steps back.

The OTT instancing makes this game feel more like a RPG than a MMO. Again even the fanboys wont deny that.

Overal 3/10 and thats just for the sound and graphics. You cant explore the wonderful landscape becaue you bump into hidden walls as you take your predifined linear journey through Hyboria.

What anyone sees in this game is beyond me. Ive raised the points above on countless posts and not one (lover) of he game as argued against me.

The only points I've ever seen them counter with was

    1. The game looks good (True)

    2. The content is coming guys. (LOL)

    Yea, that's about it really.

actually, the "its a damn pretty game" argument doesn't even really matter...cause if your a raider or a siege participant, you have to tone the graphics down to have an acceptable frame rate. our guild raid leader demanded we turn off partical effects and put settings to low. fat lot of good pretty graphics were then

I'm a casual player (level 58 and been playing since launch).  To me this is the best MMO I've played but graphics and art are important to me and then combat and animations.  This game to me has mastered those areas.  I haven't noticed many bugs to be honest.  There is some content missing around 55-60 but you can move into the 60-70 zones around level 57 and there are two 60-70 zones to enjoy.  Granted, the PVP system is missing amongst other things but I don't mind waiting since I'm enjoying everything else about it.  Seiges are functional and taking place with some bugs.  I think if you take your time and stay behind the development curve you'll enjoy it but if you get to 80 right away that part of the game isn't as polished as it should be so you may get bored.  I personally play alts alot cause I enjoy going through the story of each races area and those parts are very polished.

1-20 in Tortage, exactly the same for races, just slight differences for the Archtypes.

Unless you mean the 20+ content, most of that can be done on your main, regardless of race.

If I had to describe what's missing from AoC in one word it would be.... Brains (just kidding). But seriously it's just missing content. Here's a breakdown of missing content

    - 1-20 Is the exact same story, with a few class names and npc changes.

    - Once you get out of Tortage NPC's stop talking (some says it's a blessing but it helps to pass time and adds atmosphere... destiny quest npcs @ 30,40,60,80 still talk but it's not the same)

    - NPC's stop giving you a logic/story driven and connected quests once you leave Tortage. I really wanted Conan to talk bout his days with the cock handler

    - Quest rewards @ 60+ don't give always give you an item your class can use.

     - PvP, PvP, PvP!!! OMG I swear Funcom should have their own personal hell for this! They gave us the most broken pointless pvp system I've ever found in a launch P2P game. At times I feel like I'm playing a Korean F2P (even that feels like an insult to korean mmo's), pk points do jack all and just sit there counting up. It's taken them 3 months to add a PvP patch and it's still not on live servers (only on test atm).

    - Ding level 80! now what?!!! Once you hit level 80 there's little original/fun stuff for us to do.  You get a choice of waiting for mass of people to form a RAID group, go numb farming guild city resources, farming epic gear (that is beaten by gemmed crafted gear, soon to be nerfed in a September 2008 patch),you can level craft (if you haven't already done so, but it requires lot of guild city buildings), you can also grind mobs and instances till your eyes bleed hands throb and get the back problems of 80yr old from all the gold needed to pay for end game ride skills, mounts, bags, cities, but very few will enjoy doing it, or you can pointless kill people. So you hit 80 and all you can do is make another toon out of sheer boredom just to get to another WTF do i do now moment, its a vicious cycle.

Oh and atm we're paying to test the game for them!!!!! We pay a P2P fee each month for a game with sooo many bugs, might as well say "take our £ we don't really need it honest".

Don't get me wrong I still like this game, but just barely. It has alot of potential and history that funcom can use and abuse. But seems they're too preoccupied pleasing their share holders (can't blame them really, without em we wouldn't have a game, a necessary evil I guess)

You know what... that's a great slogan for Failcom development

All while the people from FC laughed their asses off on the way to the bank.

Edit to add:  Regarding the PvP in AoC.  It was a HUGE missed opportunity for FC.  The PvPers were there in large numbers at release.  They kept on going for a while despite no PvP system and borked classes.  But like the rest, many eventually left.  Too bad for FC, since the rabid PvPers **were** there in good numbers.

AOC is a crappy game. Even IF they could fix half the things that are broken and/or missing, the game would still be bad. It is a huge flop. Go check out Horizons if you want to see a similar crappy MMO.
