Character explanation ?

Hey, Is there a character explanation of a playstyle for all characters ? Th basic tank/wizard/priest/melsee doesn't really explain much and I just wanna start of with something what I like right away and not make 5 characters and see which one's better.

The Tank/Ranged DPS/Healing/Melee DPS archetypes are pretty much what they are for each race. However, the reason why its not easy to explain each class, is because each type/race combination has a different "quirk". Tanks go about their business in different ways for each race. Ranged DPS (this can either be magic-casters or ranged bow/gun type). And especially the healers do their "healing" differently... for instance, a Goblin Shaman has to charge a particular buff up to 5 times through offensive-type spells, for a healing spell to use up those charges to great use... in vice-versa, to cast 5 assist/heal-type spells to buff their damage spell. In contrast, a Dark Elf Disciple of Khaine needs to charge this Blood gauge using offensive abilities and use it like a mana source to power their heal spells. In a caster DPS perspective, Dark Elf Sorceresses can charge up their dark magic power gauge, to which they have a great chance of critting--- but because of their critting, they have an incredibly high chance of backfiring and doing that damage to themselves after 2-3 casts in max dark magic power mode.

Its little quirks like that which make it difficult to really say, "Oh this class is this-and-that and you'd love this!" because they're all unique, even if their roles in a group are designated by an archetype.

Hmm, I'm lookin at Melee berserker for Dark Side. I'm always a warrior player with 2h and heavy armour. Any thoughts of which from the 3 races has what quirks ?

Depends on what you really want to play, there are several methods of playstyle imo. I've been contemplating on playing a Black Orc with a Disruption style pvp build (like the build here) due to it's ability to disrupt people with knockbacks or knocking them down. It's not really a "killer" build, but none-the-less it's a build to really irritate people I'd imagine.

Other the other build I was looking at is the survival style build (here) because it can really take a lot of punishment, while being a big distraction for the other team.

There are only two tank types to each side. The only ones with heavy armor. So, you are looking at a chosen or a black orc. I believe it's the chosen that does more of the 2 handed weapon thing.

The dark elves don't have a 2h guy. 2 swords or 2 daggers or a mage type.

I played only the "good side" during the preview weekend. So, I tried the Swordmaster and a friend came over and played a Ironbreaker.

I can tell you that on the order side. I often saw swordmasters at top for dps. On the HE vs. DE pairing.

Chaos vs. empire..I didn't pay much attention actually. Was still trying to learn the icons of each class. Witch hunters on empire were close to top alot. Also I think the Bright Wizards. Chaos I'm not sure. Didn't know any of those icons.

Alot of it also depends on the fights you get. The first scenarios you can play from lvls 1-12. You get adjusted to 8th if you are not high enough (it figures the average level.) I'm thinking it's so if you are up against a 12th level you have a chance (small with 2 8ths, none with 1 vs. 1)

If you're looking for a 2h berserker style with heavy armor. There aren't any. For berserkers, there's the Marauder, who can mutate their right arm into a weapon and wield a 1h on the left. Another berserker of sorts is the Witch Elf. Sadly, both berserkers have okay, but not amazing armor... although I'm sure you'd be comfortable with a Marauder to a degree. Armor between a Marauder and a Witch Elf, Marauder has more--- and it feels like Witch Elf does more DPS.

At any rate, for heavy armor fellows... like the others said--- its between the Black Orc and the Chosen. I do feel that you'd like Chosen. But maybe you might like the Black Orc dynamic. All I have to say is try both and see which quirk suits your fun.

Marauders and Witch Elves are the most berzerkerish, medium amount of armor with  high dps. Chosen and Black Orcs are the most armored and tankish, more survivability, slightly less dps. Your description of what you want seems to favor the Chosen or Black Orc the most. Not really Zerkerish, but with two handers and heavy armor. Can't have either of those with Marauders. Personally, the Black Orc to me seemed more fun, more character to it, from the style, to the names of all your abilities. Spent alot of time in CB playing one so I might be biased.
