March on! - Lets Invade Pekopon
I think you need to buy a box of diapers.
If you want a MMORPG with a classic old school feel, but with varied game play options so it's not as boring, with a heavy emphasis on team based combat then GET THIS GAME.
For me its the variety of gameplay available to you even from lv 1.
i was late in the PW & only got 1 days playtime, and got a shaman to lv 13, renown rank 11, but managed to take part in over a dozen scenarios, keep sieges, public quests, & spent next to no time LFG's.
i voted yes, because i think it is a game almost everyone can enjoy, even if you dont like pvp at all it draws you into pvp(rvr) in such a way it feels natural.
there is alot of stuff for the explorers, for the pvpers, for the socializers (though i wished more people would talk in game or would just say a hi, hello to get an open chat going), for the siegers, for the pve and raiders (though no large raods like 20+ besides for the king encounter), and yes the crafters the potion making and tailsmen making will be vital.
Yes, I just convinced several EQ2 players to join me in Warhammer. I am excited as a boy awaiting Christmas!

'Cry Havoc, and Let Loose the Dogs of WARRRRR!!!'
* Plenty of PvE, PvP and RvR (especially the RvR).
* Innovative questing (like PQ's and PvE within RvR areas, just to name a few).
* Titles and rewards for anything from poking yourself 100 times to slaying the king.
* Living guilds that gain stature and in-game bonuses as they progress in rank.
* Crafting that's easy and a no-brainer.
* Gear you can customize in various ways (i.e. color, add trophies, etc.)
* RvR that doesn't lag you into crashing if 100+ players are present.
* Graphics that are decent enough for systems 2 to 3 years old, and damned good for some of the higher-end rigs (recent updates via some post-PW patches and more on the way!).
* Gameplay at the individual, group, guild and warband levels that make a real difference in how the end game turns out.
There's tons more, but the core of this game is really in the RvR. If you're into that, this is a no-brainer.
If at first you don't succeed, pay someone who will.
This game will never match that feeling you got the first time you ever played an MMORPG (Everquest in my case). That being said, it's been a long time since I've had as much fun in an online game as I did during the preview weekend.
* The public quests are such a breath of fresh air to the genre. It's great to be able to jump into what basically amounts to a 20+ person raid at any level and be able to accomplish something in 15 minutes or less.
* The open grouping is fantastic as well. There is no longer any reason to wait around while your group forms. Simply look for any open groups in your area and click "join." Fast. Easy. And most importantly, fun.
* The scenarios are great for some quick RvR action in which you know both sides will be evenly matched. Again, it's fast and easy and makes for a great time.
* The full-scale RvR is a blast as well. Capturing and defending keeps is such a thrill. And with the open grouping options, it's easy to run to your local RvR area, join up with others, and make a difference.
I used to be all for original Everquest-style gameplay. It would take hours upon hours to gain levels. No one would hold your hand and guide you through the experience. It was up to you to make things happen. Warhammer is not that type of game. That being said, it is exactly what it has promised to be: a lot of fun. I can't wait for open beta and release.
WAAAAAAAGGHH! (Sorry, couldn't resist that one. Won't happen again)
There's no point in taking other people's opinion on whether they like it or not, no-one can truely tell you what you'd like. People will always be biased, if they love it they'll tell you it's the best game in the world, if they don't like it they'll tell you it's the worst game that's ever existed. Play the game, if it's not for you then don't play it - simple as that.
If you don't want to spend money, then the closest thing you can do is pre-order the game and try the Open Beta (but then there's the thing; it's in Beta) and if it's not for you, you can cancel. Otherwise you'll have to hope that they offer a buddy key soon.

Yah beta is a bit of a mixed bag of advantages. If you're *THAT* bored then its something to do but essentially we're paying to help fix the last of the bugs.
If you want a bug-free game at the cheapest price possible then I wouldnt bother with the head-start either and just buy the game after the first few emergency patches xD

First heard about the game in July of '07, been following it off and on since then...I pre-ordered on Monday! I'm trying to figure out what career I want to be.
Simply answer, find a place that still has the open beta cards. Pre order it from there and try it when OB starts, if you don't like it all, get your pre order back
Fun Factor is what makes or breaks a game, if its not fun just play something else.
I pre-orderd at gamestop 2 days ago and am going to try the OB. Heck, it only cost me 5$ so thats a trial IMO.
Why wouldn't you buy it?
It costs about the same as one dinner + drinks-- and that doesn't include your date--or one baseball game...or a couple of nights at the movies...
That first month you get with the box is for you to decide if you like it or not.
And don't wait to try RvR (even if you can avoid it.) RvR is team-based PvP fighting against characters whose inteligence is not artificial...it doesn't get any better than that in MMOs.
“Microtransactions? In a single player role-playing game? Are you nuts?”

Yes buy it, Spore is fun but Warhammer is more fun.
Fallout 3 might give war a run for its money, I'm trying to get my hands on an early copy.
To the OP: Asking whether or not to play the game in the Warhammer forums sounds more like getting your hamburger in a McDonalds restaurant and asking people if you should eat it or not.
Good day.

Ted Treffon: I don't represent Hardbodies.
Osbourne Cox: I know very well what you represent. You represent the idiocy of today.
Ted Treffon: No, I don't represent that either.
Osbourne Cox: You are part of a league of morons. Oh, yes. You see you're one of the morons I've been fighting my whole life. But guess what. Today, I win.
ignore what I said before, spore is boring and repetative, it is also very limited, except for the last part of the game, space
not woth the $$
I don't see much else worth the $ at this time, go for WAR
