I understand sitting in DL traffic can be just as frustrating, as doing so in real life. However, who didn't expect this, when has this ever gone differently?
This is no indication of how Mythic will handle the game in the long run (by any measure). I'm not saying this in response to those who are simply venting about the wait for the sake of venting. This however is as normal to an MMO as ORCS are to fantasy.

a fail is still a fail, good thing this patch isnt a gig
I'm confused is this a second patch as in people have been able to log in to the launcher? Beacsue seriously I got the patch down in like two minute.

WAR is coming. Look busy.
we spend 5 hours, some more, to create an account, and then it turns out we could have used the one we already had
As far as I know, we're all downloading the same 189MB patch. If you got that in two minutes, then you have a very speedy connection and probably were able to login to the patcher before almost anybody else.

Malickiebloo I was in a guild with you in SWG waaaaaaaaaaay back in the day. I don't remember which character was in that guild though.
It's good to see some active SWG vets are still playing and not being the cynical jerk-offs that we've been labeled as because of it.
Cheers and whatnot...
I guess the only part I don't understand is why all the drama over long download, log in, or registration times. To my knowledge, this is still beta, and the goal of beta is to work these systems out under large amounts of stress. To the guys treating this like they are paying for the product, the point of beta is to work out these systems for those who will pay for the product. And don't give me the "I pre-ordered" speech, because, this is still a beta test, and not "early entry."
I have a key, I am downloading the client now (it's huge), and until it completes, I am playing something else, something I paid for...
Played (more than a month): SWG, Second Life, Tabula Rasa, Lineage 2, Everquest 2, EvE, MxO, Ryzom.
Tried: WoW, Shadowbane, Anarchy Online, Everquest, WWII Online, Planetside
Beta: Lotro, Tabula Rasa, WAR.
Couldnt it have been avoided if everyone knew how it was about to turn up!? Like letting us register, activate and patching BEFORE this day?
Lets face it, this open beta launch day is an epic fail if you even cant register or activate the product on their website, even less actually, you know, playing the game?! lol.
Code 414 is the new classic word.
Being it launches in just over a weeks time if they can't get something as simple as sign ups working correctly then I would be wondering what kind of service I'm gonna get when the game goes live.
So, you are double posting responses with forum alts? You should also re-evaluate what constitutes an "epic" fail. A fail perhaps, but epic? Give me a break. If you are put off this easily, you are in for a lifetime of epic fails, followed by the never-ending shrill sound of your own whining. Even fingers in your ears won't block the pain it will cause you in the future.
Man up in other words. Sheeez.
and what forum alt may that be!? I will gladly let mmorpg check my IP and shit if you dont believe me. What in gods name are you talking about, ontblod is my only nick here and the only nick I post with, period! I was about to say some rude words here directed to you personally but I will let it go.
Yes an epic fail for GOA on open beta launch day if we even cant get unto servers on open beta launch day. That is epic, this is not about lag on game servers, no problem with the game itself, we cant even activate the key for it. ........and my clock is now 18.00 CET. Not very good sign for potentiall customers. They can make it up by adding an extra day though.
Pls understand Im not talking about the GAME itself or its real launch day, this is open beta launch day and they f***** it up(GOA that is).

lol... Beta testing their webpage, account system could have been done days, weeks, months ago. The Americans put in their beta codes months ago. Why does GOA wait until the day OB starts to test it? Its like, "holy shit, we have been sitting here slacking for 6 months, since CE pre-order got their codes, we got to put up the systems in like a half week now".
Well I can agree with you that some peoples reaction are a little silly and over the top, but its not like GOA are without guilt in this. Could have been handled so much smoother.
Other then that I dont care so much for OB, I only hope they fix all messed up stuff until the head start and that the live launch goes smooth. If not I will get a little grumpy too. For now I can play Spore and calmly watch the riots on the diffrent WAR forums around the net.
The Second Day Vet
There's no reason we couldn't have been allowed to patch our clients Friday or Saturday instead of all at once, when we should be playing the game.
None.
You shouldnt laugh at a crying baby but that was funny.
Not sure it has sunk into some people that this is still beta, expect issues because they happen all the time in beta.
This isn't an "issue"; it's simply poor planning and execution.
Login servers being flooded to the point of crashing is an issue. Server instability or lag is an issue. Random bugs are issues. (Not saying War does or doesn't have these, just giving examples)
Expecting all however-many-dozen-thousand people in Open Beta to download a 200meg patch all at the same time, after the servers are open for play, is just monumentally short-sighted.
all MMO's, even when launched, are in beta.
this is a bad first impression.
they knew exactly how many keys were issues. they knew their patch server would be crippled. they could have had the foresight to mirror patches or, more servers. but money talks. bs walks.
this patcher is walking.
43% 2+ hours later.
-I will subtlety invade your psyche-
You could have pulled the torrent down several weeks ago. Way to over react. Babies.
Downloaded my client this weekend, went fast. Downloading it today however is really pushing the luck.
Okay tardmuffins, we aren't talking about the client download. We're talking about the "piddly" 189 MB patch that is taking people multiple hours to download because Mythic is making us all do it at once, that wasn't up for download until this morning for the OB people.
It's the same patch that the PW+ got on Friday to begin playing the game, but OB people were blocked from downloading it.
i was killing some stuff in TF2 - can anybody update me on where we are now?
Some people are still patching.
Some of those people are still upset that we couldn't patch yesterday or the day before or overnight.
Some people are calling the first batches whiners.
Some of those people think we're talking about the 10gig client download.

actually true but not correct, this is what the core of complaints are about:
