point is: I don't HAVE to go back to train capital ships V. I can sit here and watch you guys turn bloodred, smash your PCs or kill yourselves over a friggin VIDEOGAME. The first moment I was like O.o ; then I was like WTF!?, then I was angry and now I'm actually laughing...
I'll get the game in october, patch smoothly, log in smoothly and play a polished game...
That's one thing you learn while playing EvE btw: Patience is a virtue that pays off
He seems to me to normally be a straight up guy but this letter was generated to totally dodge the issue. The vocal members of the community as you know account for a small percentage there are possibly over 100k of us who he didn't address that haven't made any comments except within their guild/friends.
Why are people pissed off at GOA? It's not simply becuase of nothing worked. It's because they acted like everything is working allright for a large portion of the day keeping people hopeful that they are not wasting their time hitting F5 on the official site and on their email inboxes. If they'd simply said our site is screwed and theres not much of a chance of you getting in (or tow'n the official line and said only a small number would be let in per wave) alot of people could have been dispersed and only the truly hardcore still seething.

Ahahahah are you serious? Have you forgotten about the shitstorm on the forums about EVE's last patch, because of the delay? And all the nerdrage present in CAOD, all the complains about nerfs, FW etc...
For the record, I too play EVE, but every place has it's share of complaining. I'm advocating for tranquility too but I'd like to see the reaction on the eve-o forums if you couldn't log in two days.
Also, not comparing EVE to WAR (europe), the first has stable servers and you can log in instantly while the latter hadn't even properly coded their authentication page the same day that the beta started, day which they knew would've thousands of players trying to log on. So, yeah, GOA you better start shaping up because right now you're looking like a bunch of amateurs and I'd even say worse than that.
what is so great about spoiling your gaming experience with a half-baked game? I never understood the hypes about closed betas, preview weekends, open betas. I can wait for the finished product. No, I WANT to wait for the finished product, why should I want to put up with a product that's not into retail?

btw. youre right, EvE hardcore gamers are as stupid as WAR fanbois. No doubt. Games are too important for these people, here... and there
Man Ive played mmorgs for obviously too long, everywhere I look on the internet now its nothing but haters and assholes Im selling my comp and going back to consoles.
Hehe. To be honest I have stopped coming to this site because of all the immature people. I just come here now to look for guidance on how I might solve the problems I'm having with WAR

... there are literally MANY 10s of THOUSANDS that missed out on CB (Closed Beta) because of ongoing problems (Mythic WO CB forum is STILL under NDA, details from there are not allowed to be made public...)
Now it is literally many 100s of THOUSANDS missing out on OB (Open Beta) And the various fansites are locking and purging and warning (mmorpg.com mods insist WO is still under the NDA and giving out warnings/banings) people left and right about the increasingly violent complaints!
After all this is a cartoon PKer (Player Killer) game, what kind of people do you expect will be drawn to wow2 (i.e. WO [Warhammer Online])?
There is an obvious reason Mythic did not want to have to deal with the HUGE number of ongoing problems publicly. There is a reason they did not make it easy to d/l (DownLoad) the game client easily and see for yourself how well it works. There are reasons the game kept getting delayed over and over, content gets removed, they knowingly go with PROVEN incompetent distributor (EU goa-way [eg. DAoC]).
I am reminded of a certain drug crazed eq3 (i.e. Vanguard) situation of everything is going "according to the vision" so what if people keep geting fired/quiting (we know what we will do to you pesents/employees/interns/beta testers after we can nolonger string you along... meeting in the parking lot!)
Well now Mythic has 100s of THOUSANDS waiting in the parking lot (the testers obviously can not be trying the OB at home), the game retails in a few weeks, the retail DVDs are pressed and soon to be shiped! What will happen over the next two weeks will amaze you when more details come to light! Quite a few will be watching wondering how Mythic will turn this around!!! You thought AO (Anarchy Online) had a bad launch... take the money and run.
Warhammer (1983), WFRPG (Warhammer Fantasy RolePlay Game 1986), Warhammer 40K (2004), WO (Warhammer Online canceled 2004, tba ~2008).
Unfortunately, these days "open beta" has largely been pushed as a marketing tool to companies, to get people to pre-order things, losing sight of its original (and still valid) purpose
A beta test is not really a preview, or a way to let people play early, but you know, to test the game. In case of MMORPGs, that includes all the associated issues in getting people up and running and playing the game.
People shouldn't be upset, but then companies shouldn't be upset when people are upset, because the way they've treated open betas of late.
The only reason any one person should be upset, is if they were one of these rude assholes that Mark was referring to. So, if you're saying that you are offended by his comments, then you are admitting to being one of those people.

Very true.
Hopefully companies will learn and stop offering Open Betas the way they have been.
All it has done is created a sense of entitlement with some people in the community.
Now, there were death threats?
Refer these to the Police. This is a business transaction (Paying for and playing MMOs). Death threats are never acceptable.

Where? I never saw any nor did I hear reports of any before Mark Jacobs made that blog post. He's lying to try and cover up GOA's ineptitude.
Ditto. If it exists somewhere, I would wager that it is as Altairzq said and on a forum board. In fact, the "racial slurs" thing gives it away IMO as people don't usually say those things. I'm telling you guys that I think this was a broad slap to shut up everyone who had a problem with what happened and he has done this kind of thing before.

*BOW* to Mark Jacobs. This man has class and manners. he impresses me every time he says or writes something. It's a game, you guys that are psychotic about WAR should probably ask yourself what matters most in your lives... this game - launches - in - TWO - weeks. Not now, not yesterday, not tomorrow. Go for a jog, get yourself a job for the time being and start this game after the first patches in october. You will save yourself, and your environment, a lot of anger and frustration.
Class and manner is precisely what he lacks the most. I wonder what is your idea of class and manners...

@ People that are extremely impatiant.
Things don't always work as it was meant to. Give it time, and stop complaining. Complaining will NOT solve things.
