Would be more interesting to see a test of best graphic with 30FPS on diffrent computers instead.

It's not hard to make a game look great, but it's damn hard to make a game look great and have smooth game play at the same time.

I never go just by screenshots - since often in-game looks better (or worse). However, EQ2 looks to be gorgeous from what I've seen.

http://everquest2.station.sony.com/#mediaMovies has a movie called "In Depth" that shows a decent amount of footage, all in-game. In particular the character models and animations are sweet.

Since so many people played the WoW ST - we know what it was like.

Hopefully there will be some footage or Beta slots for some of the other nice looking ORPGs.

So I guess you believe no one can have different taste or a different opinion then?

Personally I like the graphics in WoW, GW and DnL.....though GW looks pretty good with that (haze??) effect sort of like Battlefront except a lot better

I was just about to comment on this tard as well.

We could also say that anyone who plainly "attacking" someone with different opinions on EQ2 is a fanboy for WoW and is just "selling" the game.

Its time to grow up and get over the stupid WoW vs. EQ2 BS. If all the followers of both games were to meet in a gravel pit to finaly fight it out the pit would cave in and kill them all just for being annoying and dumb. Get over it.

This has nothing to do with opinions. Is Monet better than Picasso? You're comparing oranges and apples. If EQ2 has the best looking graphics in your opinion OK. But if you speak technically and objectively, EQ2 graphics very bad. They seemed to use a geometric mapping coordinate instead of Unwrapping and using planar maps, that's probably why you see some weird strecthing in the skirt textures on the image above... but hey, you probably know what UV mapping is don't you? image

If all you compare is look, then you're just a fanboi. Guess what? There are other things than look! EQ2 has an abusive polygon count for the result obtained, which has not so many details (NO, Bump mapping isn't details, model-wise). Compensing their lack of artistic skills with high polies is very very weak. "Pushing your machine to the next level", Hell yeah it does, but for what? nothing special, really. It shouldn't be pushing anything to the next level as most fanbois seem to believe due to their lack of knowledge in the CGI domaine. And CIM_LW is right and you just misinterpreted what he wrote.

IMO, too many games focus on having the "best" graphics and too little time on making their game complete.  For me, I don't care how cool it looks when I'm walking around the world, if I'm bored or frustrated and wondering why I'm playing that game.  For me it's about the lore, quests, and humor a game has.  I've been beta testing alot this year on a few games, and I can honestly say I'm rather disappointed.  At least I'll be saving money by not buying a few of them, even with all the hype surrounding the game.

As for an all around fun game, WoW has won my heart.  It's kinda funny as when I saw the first screen shots for WoW, I thought it looked too cartoonish.  But the game is so fun to play and easy to get into.  image

Have to agree with alex here. You may like EQ2 graphics the most, but from a technical point of view a high polygon model with a generic texture slapped onto it is NOT an artistic feat.

WoW takes a different approach, very high artistic detail but low poly models. Though I like the overall style, surely they could have made a little less blocky models without stressing todays hardware too much?

D&D finally fits my taste perfectly, both from the artistic and technical side. It reminds me of AC2's graphics, which together with EVE is still the best looking MMO today, including WoW and EQ2.

Using dark elves probably wasn't the best sampling you could use from EQ2. I don't particularly like the direction they went with those, but I generally like the way the other races look, and the game in general.

My vote for best game, to deviate from the subject matter a bit, is EQ2. The formula they have is one that has kept me busy in EQ1 for years. Everything I've read shows they've only improved that.

The biggest thing to this formula is putting PvP on the back-burner to concentrate on PvE. None of the other games from those screenies is doing that.

I like WoW and D&D the best. I do like EQ2 environment but I don't like the character design.

In my opinion WoW doesn't have the best graphics  But it's the best Style... But DANG that chich from Guild Wars is HOTT... I mean.. She looks real to me :D...

I think in order to Really test the graphics engines you would have to test the same race/class in the same environment and with the same lighting effects... Because shoot... A picture of a model in a bikini is totally different from a picture of a cook in a a kitchen...

    Am I right?

From best to worst in looks imo:

    1. Guild Wars

    2. D&D Online

    3. World of Warcraft

    4. EQ2

    5. Wish

EQ2 seems to have the technical superiority but for all that power the character models and environments are amazingly lacking in detail and style.   The character models and armors are some of the worst I have seen in any modern mmorpg.

On the other hand the ones I think will be the most fun to play are in this order:

    1. EQ2

    2. WoW

    3. D&D Online

    4. Guild Wars

    5. Wish

Offering to PvP a girl's brains out ensures that that is exactly what you won't get a chance to do:)
