By that I mean that most of the major problems are fixed.
such as the memory leaks, lack of endgame (which I'm hoping the new PvP patch will fix to a certain extent), and bugs.
I'd like to eventually try this game out, but if those problems still exist I don't think I would be able to stand it.
So do you think that those problems could be fixed by Christmas?

I may not be the best person to respond as I am not a fan of what Ive seen from FC but heres my take.
Based on their past activites I would have to say no unless there is a complete roll over of high level management thus bringing in some new vision and fresh perspective. There just seems to be a strange sort of disconnect with reality in management
Fungerer som det skal
Thanks Imjin

tuesday it theupdate aftert his it gonna left the big update with new content and dx10
certainly, maybe gonna be christmas gift !
Let me ask you a question in response. You haven't tried the game then?! I mean, you are going off all the negativity from teh "OMG HANG ZE GERMANS!" crowd, aye?!
I play 5 diff MMOs, why because there are to many aspects of the ones I do play that I enjoy. I NEVER had any problems with AoC, I fell through the ground once, and all the NPCs had also fallen through, it was like the layer of "land" everywhere had disappeared. That happened one time.
I can't really "power" game with juggling so much on my plate, so in all fairness, I only got my main to 45, and didn't see a lack of mid or end game content, as I never really got to end game content, and the flow for me up to 45 was a blast.
I say, disconnect from all the folks that are setting you up (and you are contributing as well) to having a bad experience with AoC, heh......
Though I usually don't care what other people think of a game...AoC lost nearly 400k subs and counting. I'm going to have to believe that something they did went horribly wrong and those were what I heard most often. I will eventually try the game, but I would rather be disappointed going in and then be pleasently surprised. Going in all hyped up certainly leads to disappointment. So I just want a tentative time of when most of the problems that have scared away so many people will be fixed.

Lost nearly 400k? If they have over 200k "real" subs, as in people actually playing the game I'll sacrifice my left hand.
No the game isnt gonna be magically fixed before Christmas. The game is broken at the core. You cant fix that unless you redo the entire game engine and that would probably take years. As for the content, ask yourself what has happened in the soon 4 months that its been out. And then ask yourself if 10x as much will happen the next 3 months and that's without breaking the game even more.
Yeah, they'll probably get that all fixed by Christmas. They're having a major patch tuesday that will be adding a bunch of content, so i'm pretty excited about it.
Probably not that much point, Funcom will tank come January.
Penny stock yes, fixed no
MAGA
I have no intention of playing AoC but I hope for the people who do plan to play it they do get it fixed, to answer your question though I think Funcom can get a handle on those issues by then provided management doesn't keep bungling things.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
You have to consider that everyone thought that Anachy online would tank within a month, and it's been running for how many years now?
I certainly can agree that if you plan on trying it anyway you might do well to buy it now play the free month then move on til they fix it but the thing about this post is the op's play style, the vast majority of comments I read saying the game is alright is from people who are very casual players wether it's because they play other games or just don't have much time they usually haven't gotten out of the fifties. One thing to note is I hear the memory leak issue may have to do with how much time you spend playing in a session which could easily explain why it hasn't happened to you but trust that these issues are out there and judging by the info Funcom themselves have used atleast half of the people playing this may have been affected by them.

This comment I love because it leads into why even if they fix this mess I won't play it. This game is broken at it's core and by design there is no immersion to it even if they can somehow fix those issues how do you fix the fact that you have to load a zillion times just so the trees you can't touch can look nice? The world is small to a fault for an mmo and this has all been done for the sake of graphical prowess I assume which leads to the problem of people needing to average on the higher end to play which is going to ultimately turn people away because A they don't reach the specs to play "comfortably" and B the game does not have a healthy population. Maybe somewhere don the road pvp will save this game but as a mainly pve player I can tell you AoC will never be where it's at.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
I don't think more than one person has made the statement the game wouldn't last just would they fix the major problems by Christmas and then it went into wether this game was or would be any good. In regards to Anarchy Online you are right it is still running but it is now free to play with pay options if I'm not mistaken, and Funcom certainly wasn't shooting for this kind of effort for this game not with all that Steak of MMO talk they were doing.

Congratulations jaxsundane you've completely missed my point, and you did it with bad sentence structure : )
Don't worry the game will be "fixed" on September 18th!
Ok I have to respond to this! sorry if I get rash... But what the hell.
Ok first off, anyone who plays 5 MMO's at once should have an idea on what MMO's should offer! This goes without saying " you must have alot of time on your hands." At any rate from your experience I would expect a better answer to the OP's question.
Second, as for the GERMANS......... Take a look around (this forum and the official forums) most of the negitivity was brought on by FC its self, most of the gripes and bitches are way to similar to blame it on Trollers, haters or as you would call it GERMANS.
And as for your last comment "disconnect from all the folks that are setting you up ect." As far as I see it and I'm sure a few others will agree, Ill answer the OP.
OK here it goes:
Dear OP, If you want to try the game then do so, but before you do check out as many gaming forums on AOC and try to sort out the pros and cons yourself before you waste your hard earned cash. Make your own decision and find out for yourself. Don't listen to the fanbois or "GERMANS". Remember jumping into something without knowing whats going on around you is the definition of ignorant.
Remember you can't fix stupid!
lets just say that the steak and wine funcom is offering us will be a top notch wine. I expect that is what funcom is trying thier hand in now. A nice aged wine for everyone.
All kidding aside, i dont think it will. The progress they are making is barely noticable, the content they are promising is going to be tiny, you will probably finish it in a day or 2, then you are back to the spot you were before.
Don't forget that we are all looking for something different in these games. This is why there are so many different opinions on these forums, and some people just can't accept the fact that not everyone likes the same thing they do.
Some are looking for some linear storylines, some are looking mainly for some questing solo play with people running around, some are looking for a community and grinding together with friends, some are looking for FFA PvP, some are looking for a world to immerse themselves into, some want a sandbox, some want to role play, etc... and of course some others want it all (the problem is that no game has it all today).
As for myself, the no 1 feature I am looking for is an immersive world and after this i want some of everything else (-> sandbox...?).
So, for the immersive world I will compare only the 2 major games that were released in 2008 (I am comparing to get my point across, not to bash one game or the other):
1. WAR : almost seamless world, but "local" immersion (the environment where you are) is completely killed by the lack of drawing distance (everything is grey around you, you can't see in the distance) and it is a cartoon game, so I can't see how I can immerse myself and get connected to my character in a cartoon world.
2. AoC: the world is unfortunately zoned, but for me the "local" immersion (the environment where you are) far out weights the zoning disadvantage.
The environment is so well done, so lush and so immersive that I can stand or sit there watching people passing buy, seeing the NPCs live in this alive world (-> i.ex old tarantia with children running and laughing, npcs working, animals running around, etc...), totally in awe at what I see and what I hear that I forget the zoning.
Furthermore, I now see this zoning like real life. Real life is not seamless for me either. Real life is zoned aswell. If I want to go somewhere I need to take a car, a train or a plane to get there. If I go from New York to Tokyo I travell from 1 zone to the other. In AoC I have wagoneers, etc... It's the same for me. In real life I am always in my local zone, it's the same in AoC. So zoning doesnt trouble me anymore.
So, I have left AoC 2 months ago after my first 30 days and didn't subscribe. I was so bored in WAR already after the first day (because >I< was not finding what I was looking for, this doesn't mean it's a bad game ) that I resubbed to AoC (I hadn't planned this). And I am now having such a blast in AoC, this is the best game for me at the moment (looking forward for Darkfall and Aion). The pvp patch and the coming features will only make it better.
(I also like Lotro and Eve as much)
To sum it up shortly: for me war is a cartoon mmo game whereas AoC is a mmoRPG.
If you take your time to enjoy the world and don't rush it to end game, AoC is great. The pve is good, the pvp (even if currently only ffa) is good and will get even better with the Tuesday patch, many reports all over show that the city sieges are now working great and are a lot of fun. And since release I have never experienced any memory leaks (only once 4 months ago in beta) and since beta I never had any crashes and I have played several times for 8 or even 12 hours long (not saying others don't have these problems).
So, OP, depending on what you are looking for in an mmorpg, try the game out for yourself.

Heh thats alot to quote on! but hey thanks for being more elaborate, I really didn't want to get that involved, LOL, but your right and I agree.
This is for the Posters in general and to the GERMAN comment!
I just get upset that most people want good news or reviews all the time, IMO if all news was good or reviews then things would always be perfect, who wants that? I mean debating (opinions) is good because it may open your eyes to something you don't know or may interest you firther into a subject. I see alot of people getting banned for there opinions (a.k.a. trollers) and ok some deserve it for stepping way out of bounds. But if there wasn't other opinions then we are just stuck with PERFECT! and a real boring community. this would be like being stuck in a room with 100 fanbois for New Kids on the Block and your a TOOL fan. lol, sorry if I did a 360, but as far as I see (HERE and alot of other forums) there is more fanbois vs. troller than AOC vs. WAR.
Dropped 2 cents,
