I will be playing AGE OF CONAN..The content/features that they are working on look EPIC...The dx10 immersion will be off the hook..
I look forward to playing this game in JAN 09,or therabouts...Yes,Funcom messed up..Yes,it could have been done better....Time to move on ladies...
This game is going to rock in a few more months..Cant wait......

well imo when they fix up the game they should give every inactive account a free month of playtime.
so people can see all the changes that have occurd.

If youre playing AOC after January of next year its because FUNCOM sold the rights off to a new more capable group of people.... these guy wouldnt know epic if it kicked them in the nuts!

No amount of time will fix the game. Its just more Warcraft crap. Quests aare the only way to level up, zones are restricted by level, you can only follow the little trail they lay out for you, and they instance every single zone. Stupid stupid stupid. Those are design flaws, that lumped on to the lack of promised features is why the game failed. They can add those features in and it will make it only a litttle better.
Get back to me when they add back in the 8 directional combat they took out because WoW kiddies couldn't handle thinking that hard.

It's not only eyecandy which make a player feel immersed. It's actually only a small part. The instanced public zones totally blew immersion out of the window for me, for instance. Graphics and effects are wihout doubt the least of AoC's problems and dx10 is not going to fix the lack of immersion that people experience playing in that boxed in, instanced gameworld.

Yea I think FC made the monumental mistake that kinda replicates the NGE(SWG) and partial mistakes that Sigil made with Vanguard, They promised alot without delivering, and bad community relations. Not listening to your gaming community can really hurt your game. we have seen that in the past with a few MMO's. I am going to sub-back up when the new stuff gets implimented, just to check it out. I tried WAR and there is just too much WOW in that game for me. Don't get me wrong its a good game just not for me.
Its too bad that some people get so hyped by a game it kinda throws reality out the window.
Glad to see you still hold onto the lingering hope that Funcom can actually deliver more than just words.
The big question is in a few months will there be anyone else playing on your server or will it remind you an episode of the Twilight Zone where your all alone?
Well the sad thing about this is that they won't have everything they originally promised until a year from today. And the sad thing is that they can get away with it if they have the proper marketting skills. Quality + honesty don't mean shit anymore is what all of this is telling companies when they can make more money doing what FC is doing. FC is the last company I want for a gaming industry to be a rolemodel for. But considering FC is actually being successul with this type of business, I don't see why they shouldn't if you take away morals. Hmm... well, we could actually give everything we promised... ooorrr.... we can hype it up, spend less money then it takes to produce, make a huge profit from box sales, continue to make profits from monthly subs while still fixing the game if we continue to advertise correctly, and then have the game finished in a year... yeah, I'll be able to afford 3 different yachts then instead of 2.
Here's my prediction:
In a few months AoC will be fixed and have 25 million subs, there will be world peace (Erling will lead new world goverment where every thing is perfect like AoC's launch), the energy crysis will be over (Funcom releases PR report about Gaute's controlled cold fusion success) and the Arab's will be so busy playing AOC they will lower oil prices to $20 a barrel.
Name one example where FC have improved AoC in any meaningful way.

Before I quit AoC, every patch made the game worse and worse and worse. If anything the miracle patch will be the death patch.
Personally, even if FC does actualy make all those improvments in the game later on, which i doubt, i will still not play this game again or any other game from FC. it is not just a personaly grudge gained from the way i was slapped around as a player and consumer, but if the gamming community keeps allowing, forgiving and forgetting companies that treat us like this, they will continue to do so. So i will do what small thing i can do to send out my message and stay away from using anymore FC products. Some people might say otherwise, but i believe that every vote counts
Totally agree. I thought graphics were great in AoC...DX10 would be an improvement sure...but it is not what makes the immersion to a player. An open world, where you are not boxed in with a a few other players in the same zone. Open up the world to play more like most other MMOs where you actually meet many others n play with other players...that is where the immersion is.
I looked forward to AoC like many others. I played for two months, trying my hardest to enjoy myself. I actually did enjoy the first few weeks, then noticed I wasn't having FUN in game anymore. I was lucky not to have many hardware problems even though my computer was only a bit over the minimum specs, it was the lack of overall enjoyment that killed it for me. Broken feats, quests, lackluster pvp, and other gameplay aspects that were missing or broken destroyed the bit of fun I had the first run through Tortage.
If funcom can over-haul the gameplay, add quite a bit of content, and add many things that were supposed to be in at launch, I will give it another shot. I payed $50 for the box, and didnt get my money's worth yet, so if they can make the game fun for me again, I will try to get a return on my investment. Untill then, I will be enjoying myself in WAR, a game I've yet to pay for, played, and had a BLAST from what I've played. If they can overhaul AoC like they did with AO, I will hopefully have two mmorpgs to keep me plenty busy. Funcom did screw up, but if they can patch things up and make the game fun, I have no problem resubbing, because when it comes down to it, I play games to have fun. If they can deliver, they can have my money. Until then, I'll just keep my eye on it since I allready spent $50 for the box.
Heh, DX10 will be off the hook. DX10 was supposed to be off the hook 4 months ago.
DX10 is not going to address the painful lack of immersion in AoC.
They've improved it in the most important area, stability. That's a single piece of information, do I win anything? Judging by your last sentence I'm willing to bet what ever the answer is, you're still going to nitpick it.

If you aren't looking back why even vist this forum (as in the AOC section)? That goes for anyone who feels this way. By all means do what you want, but why visit if you have no interest? There's enough drama here, there's definitely no need for any more.
