    Agree, cant wait! :)

Darkfall is the only thing im following to see where it leads. I played EQ2 for years and recently (3months) got into LOTRO, how i ever missed it I don't know! Offers so much, and the rate the game is going its got huge amounts of content to come.

Hope you enjoy LotRO and MoM.

But, not for me.  To much forced grouping in LotRO.  Tired of it.

Have played a LOT of MMORPGs, and I can recognize that Warhammer Online is going to be a runnaway hit.  It is just a whole lot of fun to play.  All aspects have been a blast.

Played LotRO since Beta, but am done with it now.  Resigned from my Guild (was Officer), and am moving on.

    Good Hunting

not understanding where you are coming from with the "forced grouping" comment? It depends on class I suppose, I have practically solod from 1 to 43 so far? But on he other hand, isnt that what a MMO is, to group with people?

There is a thing called "beta testing" you may of heard it ... Is the queue broke ? or is it just no one is online to play against. Again I'm waiting for the queue to see if it is one or the other, on a different server the queue didn't even work.... so I think it is worth testing more to see what the if anything is wrong on my end or is it the game ? Beta testing, some people actually know what it means.

Other then curiosity of why WAR is not working, LotRO MP is always available and constant, and I'm sure we will see some major improvements to MP with in the next 2 years , and those imnprovements will be a milestone in  pvp esque arena's !

Hey, you said you were done playing it... yet you enjoy the beta so much that instead of playing LoTRO you'd rather test to see if the queue will work in a game "that bit the dust"...

Sorry, but trolling can go both ways.

So much for LOTRO "mature" community...

LOTRO is not a forced grouping game, it is a solo-centric game with too many group quests. Forced grouping is FFXI where you practically cant even farm money without a team. Now personally I find the solo game to be extremely lame and boring in LOTRO and I'd much rather group.

Went to Vanguard, waste of money, played for 7 days, got to level 7, should have been upto level 20 but was constantly getting ganked, respawn, ganked, repeat.
Went to GuildWars as it boasted no monthly fees, stayed for a good few months but got bored easilly after reaching max level (20) in a week.
Went to Lord of the Rings online without trying trial first (very uncommon for me), loved the game, eventually i got bored though as it's just like all other MMORPG's out from my point of view and from what i want in an MMORPG.
Tried WoW trial, hated it within first hour due to bad community spam in OOC when someone asked a simple question and recieved abuse for 43 minutes afterwards.
Wasted money on buying Age of Conan too.
Currently playing City of Heroes and City of Villains, game is good, should keep me occupied for about 1-3 years.
Planning on being a lifer for Star Trek online when it's released in 3-4 years.
Planning on giving Knights of the Old Republic online a try when it's released as i loved the single player games and i'm hoping it's "similar" to pre-NGE SWG
I do play around a lot with MMORPG's that catch my interest but thats because i haven't found anything that hold a candle to pre-NGE SWG yet, chances are i never will but only time will tell.

I've started playing LOTRO about a month ago, and I am really enjoying it personally.  There are so many little facets within the game that I personally love in an MMO.  Like you, my first MMO was SWG, and I will always be waiting for a pre-CU type game to come along and sweep me off my feet.

But LOTRO is pretty close...although not even close in concept, it does have aspects that I love to see in MMO's.

-Titles (right now I'm working on getting "The Undying" title, and it's a lot harder than I thought it would be for solo play without grinding xp.)

-Player housing (an aspect that I loved in SWG, and it is a little similar in LOTRO, except that the houses are preset in a village, and the customization isn't that great...but the feature is there nevertheless)

-Customizable wardrobe (now this is something every MMO should have, It adds that much uniqueness to the board)

-Story (LOTRO is top notch in this area, bottom line.  Of course there is a few examples of straying from the lore, but the presentation is bar none the best out of any MMO I've played.  I can tell Turbine learned a bit from D&D online)

-Free content (This includes additional story, zones, items, etc....without constant expansions.  I have no doubt Turbine will start expanding eastward after MoM release, maybe we'll see quite a bit of mirkwood...I know I personally cannot wait to see the Lonely Mountain myself.  All this without additional expansion purchases.  Now that is a dedicated development team.)

-You really don't have to raid to get decently geared, from what I hear.  Which is really nice for the casuals.

Some things that do need worked on though:

PVP, combat (a little more smoothness is needed, in all honesty).....well, I'm only a month in, and these are the only faults right now for me.  I used to play WoW, and believe me, I would gladly give up a terrible MMO with decent PVP to play a much better MMO overall with crap PVP.  But Turbine is working on the PVP, so hopefully LOTRO will get yet another great additional to an already great game.

I'm excited for MoM, definitely.  Because I know it just won't be the mines that we'll be getting, but a whole slew of additional content down the road.

    This doesn't make any sense.

I mean, I don't mind PVP, but it isn't a determining factor for an MMO, IMO.  I get most of my "PVP" from counterstrike or COD4.

Agreed, you do not need to raid to have a character properly geared, u can get the armour pieces from different sources, the latest one just by helping people doing epic (main story line quests) in wich the reward are some sort of barteable item for your dessired "writ" of the armor you like. Also you can be perfectly geared by crafting (yes!!, crafting is actually a usefull thing), it involves hard work to get a mastery on every crafting tier, but it is perfectly doable. and also thres a los of world drops/quest items that actually make a more than perfect end game (so far lvl 50) gear.

I'm 100% with the PvP, it needs some work, and still, im in the moors every time i can, i'm just addicted to that place, i do some pve, run some errands, help people and then sooner or later i end up figthing in there. MoM expansion will improve certain aspects of pvp, although i think noone knows exactly what the dev team has under their sleeves. Ther's one thing about the hotspots and some sort of side balancing buff but, other than that they haven't said anything and keeping in secret who knows what.

I'm def looking forward for the expansion as a whole, not just for moria .

Yeah for my main PvP source of fun i do play FPS games, those are lil better in terms of blowing up stuff and/or other players as well, and well actually games w/o pvp are games or you think online gaming has been around since the begining of the world.

Please do think a lil bit what you write down, your wasting some server hard drive capacity with junk like that.

P.s.: pssst...pssst, ther's people who doesn't like to pvp at all, nor to play online and they are still gamers and do play games.

WAR is a completely different style game then something like LotR and odds are if you like anything along the lines of LotR, the EQ sisters, VG or anything like that, you are not going to dig WAR.

Its less RPG and more action / shooter style with some RP elements and mechanics.

That's pretty much what they (devs) have been saying all along.

So "how many left" is dependent on your playstyle

Look at Fallen Earth. IMHO, this is worth keeping an eye on.

I also think Star Trek might turn out decent mainly because Crypic is making it now.

Well just finished downloading the game and I must say it's great to be back. Mind you, I wasn't around for very long the first time around, as at the time I was trying out a whole bunch of MMO's at once. Anyway on my new system, the graphics are really amazing. With DX10 and AA enabled, I am extremely impressed with the look of the game. The developers have really out-done themselves. It definately looked good when I first tried it but after not playing for a year and diving back in the game, im really excited now hehe. At the moment just really loving the atmosphere and to me the game doesn't feel as linear as some other MMO's.

By the way thanks to the people who replied to my question and yes I chose to join Windfola server so hopefully see you there! Im really hoping this game will last me quite some time as I'm having a blast. With this as well as Guild Wars and EVE, I definately wont even bother trying WAR, even though I'm sure it's a great game. Also big thanks to Solareus as it's thanks to him I decided to give the game another go.    :)

    I am on Brandywine

This made me laugh because it is so untrue...

New people and trials are coming in pretty steady, nothing amazing but you get "the new guy" questions a lot.  I was just in LL last week with a level 18 alt and there were plenty of people doing quests from The Forgotten Inn and Ost Guruth.

And the fact that you say there is no one out there until level 50 anywhere...wrong again..well not really wrong, just more of a lie.

Lotro is going to be around for a while and is a good game, people are always going to try something else out.  A lot come back.  Just like a lot of the MP'ers on BW left for AoC and WAR, guess what, many have come back and they are playing lotro for pretty much the PvP aspect only.  People who enjoy PvE have even more to look forward to in the game.

I agree, it really depends on the server and timezone you are playing in.  Most servers will have a pretty decent population during the peak hours (afternoon/evening EST)...so protoroc, if you are having trouble finding a group, it might actually be your playtime, TBQH.  I'm on Elendilmir (some say it's the second most populated), the unofficial oceanic server, and there are quite a bit of people on at all hours, with of course a lot during peak.  But regardless, some dub it the server that doesn't sleep.

Really I would suggest trying different servers, you might be surprised with what you will find.

If WAR seems to be solid after say 6 months or so, I might give it a shot.

Glad I didn't buy AoC, seemed like it would be great, and it has turned out to be crap.

Got burned on PotBS, looked good, bought it, played for a month.....then most everyone else left. Servers merged....ugh.

Until there is a quality game released, I'll stick with LotRO.If I get burned out, I'll play a f2p until I get that itch again. Only game since SWG years ago (hard to believe NGE was almost 3 years ago) that has me coming back. It's got that  kinda "world sim" feel that made SWG a winner. Still could use some improvements (get rid of housing hooks, more PvMP areas, would be great in later expansions to see siege engines usable by players), but all in all is the best thing out there for me.Plus, you don't NEED to raid the same couple dungeons over and over to get good gear.

You can do very well with all crafted gear if you have to. Add a few raid type/epic quest pieces (Elronds cloak from bk 12, weapon from 13, ect.) and you'll be doing great.
