They are selling the engine, have been for the last 2 years.  Not sure how far it is on the development side.  Also technically its not an mmo.  Its an mmo in the same context as Guild Wars.

Yep, still there. They kind of "lagged" on production since they created the engine as a product, but he game is still on dev.

Where do you get your information?  "Completely Wrong Weekly"?

It's still in development, it just fell off the main board listing because Simu didn't update the game's mmorpg.com profile often enough.

Saw it an GameDev.  It employs using small instanced rooms with up to 16-32 people.  Sounds like Guild Wars to me.  Well maybe a bit more people.

Oh, then you must be right. Nevermind all the posts on this board, the data at Heros Journey's official site, Hero's Hallt he fan site. Or on this site. That one snippit of data you saw must be right.

Translation: Your data is wrong. Please read up and stop spreading lies.

Please go read up on the game you are so wrong this game will have vast areas not instanced at all. Go have a look at the engine site and the demo of how you can build areas very powerfull tool, as with all other Simu games they do remote development and the tool shows this off as well or as other guys said check the home site out.

Hehe Simutronics is like 5 miles from my house, and I have family members that work there!  I asked many of the same questions in this thread but get blank responses, so I don't even think they know!

I was looking forward to this but WAR has my attention now and don't really care much for it anymore!

This "game" has been nothing more then a tech demo / marketing tool for the engine for a very long time.

The Game is still in Devlopement. They Bring a new Enginge into the Game and currently Look for new Gamemaster, Quest devlopers and World Builders.

This Sleeper is a Stunner. I think we hear alot of that game soon.

Kind of hard to beleive it...

The fact that it has been removed from these forums as in development doesn't really bother me. I am still happy they are working on it a they do on their other product (slowly).

WAR will be just more of the same a time sink but not a lot to look forward to.

Not if you know how Simmutronics work it isn't. (New game engine I don't think so, unless you are going back a very long way and talkein Pre- Hero Engine)

3 years ago they did that massive drive for GMs and world developers and this forum was flooded with all these tools with "HJ" next to their names.

    Where are they all now?

    • HJ Archaegeo - last log in Jan 8, 2006
    • HJ Royce - last log in Mar 3, 2007
    • HJ Tesla - last log in Jan 9, 2006
    • HJ Xadrian (dev) last log in Dec 18, 2007
    • HJ Sisca - last log in Aug 28, 2006

They must be busy working away at making HJ.

How about we ask the "off site GM"?

    www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/58655

Or if you are interested in an exciting and rewarding career as an HJ GM you can find info here from July 2005.

    www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/46620

Now they meekly said this year "maybe" it will be ready in 2 years?! By that time any concepts, graphics will be outdated to the point that it will all need to be redone again. This game was originally slated for a 2005 release. Now they are talking 2010 basically.

Thats not a "delay", thats a joke.

It's being actively developed, and It will release. There's no doubt about that. Anybody with an ounce of knolwedge of Simutronics knows that.

The question is: "when?". And the answer is: "who cares?"

I'd love to play it today, tomorrow, next week, month, year, but I don't think that'll happen. Bottom line is that when it does release, I will play. Be it in December, or December 2020.

As for the graphics, their engine is built in such a way that they can upgrade the graphics on the fly as their average user's PCs grow. So there's not a whole lot of worry there.

I think that latest german video shows that HJ looks great and hopefully will still look great when they release.

Just because they have a good engine doesn't mean they'll have a game. Remember Big World's MMORPG? They showed multiple demos of what looked like a complete game, but just ended up silently scrapping it. That could still very well happen with this as they're doing the same thing as Big World--going silent...

That said, apparently there was a recent video at the lepzeig convention. I just saw a youtube video that linked to that, today.

    trailer.onlinewelten.com/videos,id4617,heros_journey_gameplayszenen.html

Character models still looks as horrific as ever, but the environment actually looks good enough to me... And I seriously doubt they'll be changing the graphics when it comes time for release. There has never been a company that has changed the graphics with this much stuff already in place, regardless of how many fanboys say "they'll fix everything and make it purrfect"...And there's little incentive to change it, since they have so much in place for character customization already.

This game will be phenomenal , when it releases. Not a  lot more to be said.

I tend to agree.  I have never been sold on HJ, even after an eye-popping demo at E3 2005.  A lot of people were seduced by a very nice set of landscapes and character models, but I have never felt that the game would be one to inspire allegiance.  Engines and models do not a game make.

Who cares? How assinine an answer.....Who cares....

It will release...yeah ok.... if it release in 2020...trust me, there will be advances in gaming and this game wont stand a chance. Heck even if it was to release NEXT year, which frankly i doubt considering the track record os SIMU, There will already be so many other fantasy MMO`s that it will be tough for HJ to gather enough steam. Ohh sure they will have some folks who will play it but if they dont have enough populations on the server what will be the point?

After all all one of the M in MMO stand for massively.... HJ doesnt have the Massive going for them right now.

So there's no 'Massive' audience right now, so what?

Do you want them to advertise a game that won't be our for more than a year? You want thousands of pissed off fans rather than dozens?
