Here's a scan of a recent article from Total PC Gaming Sept 2008.

I found this link on the offical DF forum, might be interesting to some.

It does seem to contain some factual errors though.

    Naah, mediocre preview. Was not given a clear picture of what Darkfall is about.

    Atleast thay say its NOT a WoW-clone in the article. And when talking about no minimap or HUD...that will get some people to turn thier heads and tell other people about it.

    pretty short, and poor choice of screenshots IMO...

     

    i think the Legend of Darkfall will be enough to entice players to try the game, they don't really need massive hype, in fact it may be easier for them to manage if it starts with a small-mid-sized launch and build up from there as Eve did.

    Doesn't bring much to the table. Hell, vaportrolls are still singing their song after a gameplay video, beta announcement (YES IT'S THE THIRD ONE WE FUCKING KNOW), a confirmation of Aventurine and AVE's contract, and a couple of new screens so they won't take into a consideration an article like that but it's still nice to see that Aventurine are looking more seriously to PR now.

    Any coverage is great, but I still think this review was balls.

    An hour or two on warcry's darkfall site could have given her some insight into the real features of the game. Also, she breaks up the races into what sounds like a 3v3 situation when it's really 3v2v1...

    At least they 'reckon it'd be worth a play.'

    damn what a dipshit, that guy seems to know nothing about DF.

    he writes: when df development started, its graphics where some of the finest ever created... lol it looked like shit in the beginning, and has slowly become better and better.

    and he writes, as if mmorpgs features the last 7 years have improved, and how DF probably is too late. But in reality, mmorpg games have progressed backwards, becoming worse and worse ever since meridian59, uo, ac, with less and less features, more and more restrictions every game.

    I thought it was pretty good. He obviously didn't do a load of research on the game, but he's noted out the basics pretty well, and stated the most important point of all - that it is not a WoW clone. And I loved his comparing the game's combat system to Quake.

    All publicity is good publicity, and that was pretty good publicity.

    Yeah, the article writer should be fired for not doing his job (ie researching into a game he writes about), IMO.

    But it was a little tiny more PR for Darkfall so like someone else here said *clap* *clapitty* *clap* *clap*

    Meh, whatever. I'm not vaportroll or fanboi, I like the ideas adventurine has been pushing and will give it a shot to see for myself when it releases. After that, I'll tell you what I think.

    Indeed.. whoever wrote that has no idea what they're talking about. Comparing how players impact the world to Warhammer? Really eliminates any validity to that article.

    I'd like to say that I see a massive difference even on these boards when it comes to trolls and Darkfall, honestly a year ago every second post was from a troll I'd venture to say that is not the case now.

    Also you got to take little previews like this for what its worth, no other game gets more then a half ass write up either, its just that to them Darkfall isn't any different from any other story.

    it got some attention for a major pc-gameing mag...

    be greatful

    this will get more attention to df from ppl who never knew about it

    He has a point. it will grab people's attentions and get them to look more into the game . . . a person who didn't know what the game was wouldn't want to read a really long paragragh for it right away, instead they would read the smoll previe for it and then they would use the internet to look more into it if they liked what they read.

    Yes they will know that DFO is nothing but a WoW clone, with POSSIBLE as much impact on the world as WAR, and that all the things that DFO is has already been done..

    Yeah, I suppose you are right. Would be nice if the author writing the article would actually "get it" - but as you say all publicity is good publicity.
