I am probably wrong so dont quote me.... but I heard that in closed beta you are not able to set your graphics to maximum. Perhaps that was only for the stress test.

During stress test I had everything turned on max and my frame rate almost never droped below 30 fps (at 1280 res with 2x AA and 4x AF). System is a P4 3.2 with 1gig DDR433 and a ATI 9800 Pro

Can someone plz tell me how to check the frame rate runing during a game?

Try Fraps.  I used it when I was trying to get the best frame rate in Doom3.

But you got a kick ass computer on your hands.. If you will drop under 30 fps with that specifications, everyone will.. image

Im on a 2,8GHz, 512MB, Radion 9000, Fujitsu Laptop right now.. How will it work for me?!

It will run smooth on your computer, maybe not at max settings because the graphic card, but still smooth on pretty good settings.

The thing is that, this is the onley game i will play for a very long time to come, thou i dont have that much time to play because: work, home, family and so on takes a lot of time.. Therefor i want to experience it to its full potential.. Should i or should i not upgrade to a newer computer before the game is released?!

(How much game-experience will i lose with my current computer specifications?)

    Fujitsu Laptop: 2,8GHz, 512MByte, Radion 9000, 60GByte, 8Mbit ISP

(Have plans to upgrade memory to 1GByte)

One of my computers is almost the same as yours and I wouldn´t say there is a need for you to get another one... perhaps you could buy 512mb additional memory (I´d recommend you buy noname memory, worked for me on my fujitsu. Cost ~$175) but other than that is all good...

What´s acctually the thing that´s not that good is the graphics card but unfortunately you won´t be able to change that in your laptop (I know, I´ve been wanting to)., but still It´s not worth buying a new computer over it...

Wait with the memory until you have tried the game, I think the graphic card would be the bottle neck, not the memory, so you wouldn't see much diffrence.

I have the same graphics card and had 512Mb memory before and noticed quite a difference playing games when I bought an additional 512Mb...

I don't expect myself to play on max setting but will I be able to play on, lets say Medium with these specs? Took it directly out of dxdiag.exe

    Memory: 512MB RAM
    Card name: NVIDIA GeForce3
    Display Memory: 64.0 MB

    Please say yes ::::31::

It depends on what game, you can play WoW lagfree with 256MB ram, that's why I think it can be good to test before to see if it's really worth to put in another 512MB.

I'm not saying that he shouldn't do it, but I would have waited.

You dont need to use fraps with WoW. There is a Show FPS option in the game.

And when I say I almost never dropped below 30fps, thats under absolute worst conditions like a gryphon ride (where on most systems it is a bit laggy). During normal play my fps was much higher. I could have easily turned off AA and AF for even more performance or dropped the resolution at tick (you dont need to play at 1280 you know). Im sure if I played on 1024 without AA and AF I could get a consistant 60 fps everywhere.
