I'm waiting for WoW (Europe) which comes in about 4 months or so. Is this game fun to play for only 4 months (gold pack with all expansions for 50 euro), or should I go back to Star Wars Galaxies for 4 months?
Thank you.

The graphics are not as nice as SWG but you I think the gameplay was a lot more fun in DAoC. The content is interesting in SWG though. So it's a toughy for sure. GL.

The main problem with your question is the four month timeframe. If you buy DAoC (or any game for that matter), you will need more than a few months to fully experience it. If you are dead set on going to WoW or EQ2 or whatever, you might want to go back to SWG where you have an established character. DAoC is a great game, but it is very complex and requires a good bit of dedication. I don't think it's worth starting a character from scratch in any game if you're going to quit in 4 months.
BTW, the graphics are actually very good with the exapnsions and Catacombs will give the game an even nicer look.

Old timer.
Yes, I was thinking about that too.
I have mixed feelings on Star Wars Galaxies, on one hand it has entertained me for 8 months before quitting 2.5 months ago but on the other hand its basically just shitty grinding (area attacking a lair of mobs over and over) and once you've reached your desired template, there is hardly any endgame whatsoever.
Mobs in SWG are usually either too tough or too weak. With buffs and armor you can solo almost anything like Krayts and stuff, but in groups you almost have to exploit to win from one single Death Watch guy. It's like there are two different teams working on this game without any communication together whatsoever and just randomly add things they like, not knowing wtf the other team is implementing.
Although the JTL expansion sounds uber fun.
Actually you could pick up city of heroes instead.
Its a good game but you will be dead tired of it in four months. It will be the perfect hold you over type game because you wont feel bad about leaving it.

In my opinion DAOC is certainly worth it. I am afraid that a lot of people seem to forget that the first few months after release are nothing more than another beta full of glitches and problems. There haven't been that many smooth launches so far (some say that The Saga Of Ryzom went pretty smooth but I didn't play it so I can't judge it). Personally I like to wait at least a month or two after release before trying a new game. That should be enough for the developers to take care of the biggest problems. If you do decide to pick up on DAOC and you are looking for a guild you are always welcome with us. On excalibur (server) we have a Mid guild and on prydwen we have a Hib guild.
Cheers lad.

Thanks all, very useful information.
Suppose I'll get SWG again then, JTL seems kind of fun.
i play daoc on european servers and i wouldnt bother starting it now for 4 months if you dont plan staying tbh.
TOA has killed off the casual gamer, and many people are just waitring for WoW to come out.
Get planetside or go back to SWG or indeed CoH should keep you busy for 4 months.
I agree with Koltrane and Starman. DAoC is a great game, but it requires some time and dedication to fully enjoy it, I think. I think 4 months is probably enough time to see a lot of what DAoC has to offer if you play often, but once you establish yourself, that is where the real fun begins, and you may miss out on that when WoW and EQ2 come and you make the switch.
I currently have an active account in DAoC, although I don't log in much. I am finding that City of Heroes is the perfect game for instances such as yours. It does not require much time to learn and see the content, it is easy and pretty basic. You can log in for an hour, play a mission, then log off.
I played SWG, too. I had a great time, but after the Jedi started to appear, it was time for me to leave that world which no longer resembled the Star Wars universe. It's got great stuff otherwise, as you probably know, even if you just wanted to be a crafter or entertainer.
Right now I guess if I were you I would stick with SWG until the others come. I am in the same type of situation because I played the Saga of Ryzom beta and I want to buy the game, but I know that I will only play it for a few months until I get Everquest II (and World of Warcraft, lots of sleepless nights ahead).
I've been able to hold off and just play the games I have.
