Want to see how a REALLY good company treats its Players ?

Go have a look at the 1.01 patch notes for WAR.  They are available on the WAR Herald site.  You will find the usual bug-fixes and such, but you will also find a large number of direct customer requests that have been implemented.  And they are real ones too.  I, along with lots of other folks, submitted a bunch that were done.

So, if you are sick of MMORPG companies that treat the paying customers as if they were some sort of dirt, come have a go in WAR.

It is a great game.  Stable.  Polished.  And just a load of fun to play.  I just wish they had made the first 20 Levels Free-To-Play so everyone could get a really good feel for what WAR is all about.

    Waaaaaaaaagh!

    Yeah, they are doing some AMAZING things with Warhammer. UI updates? Pet pathing? God forbid, my White Lion's huge epic kitty might actually listen to me this time! <3

    Yes i agree entirely. The thing is most people playing the game and enjoying it are in game not on these forums bashing it. Most people i ve run into think it s the funnest game they ve played in years, and can t wait to see whats next. There will always be the bashers, ie lovers of other games trying to sway people not in WAR from buying it, but who cares, they re just making themselves look bad imo. If you don t like the game, find one you do and play it, or forget about MMOs in general. Anyways, yes this company is great and if you hit the VN Boards on occasion, you ll see how the devs actually respond to alot of imprtant things about their game. Top company IMO.

    I also want to applaud them for not being nerf happy. There have been very, very few changes to classes or skills and I believe all have been bug fixes. The game is very balanced for being so soon after launch. Nothing I hate more than dev teams that ham handedly re-adjust class balance with every patch. Kudos to Mythic on this point. :)

    they've made minor abilitty changes here and there, no big nerf things at this time luckily.  I think its because the classes are balanced to a good RVR class balance... not so much for 1 on 1, so it makes it a little easier to balance I guess?

    ............. balance.....

    You know... usually i'm one of those large gaming corporation haters that think they never listen. But credit is given where credit is due... and I must say to the patch notes that I have read... I am quite impressed at the level of communication between them and us. They actually listen. And not only that.. they listen wisely.. they don't listen to the retarded "nerf them" crowd.

    If they keep this up.... this game could keep growing to get even better. Kudos to the dev team for a well made move. One I have been waiting for a company to do for awhile.

    Ys i love the balance in this game. I made a Marauder as my main, and speccing him Brutality, knowing he s a squishy killer. I play him accordingly and  does just that. I tear caster to shreds but know a tank will kill me more times then not, if they play them well. I actually in scenarios with my guild/alliance am the distract/dmg dealer. ( times out of 10 i run in the middle of the enemies, charging a caster or healer. Everyone concentrates on me and a guildie grabs the flag, while a chosen and zealot are guarding our flag. Not sure why but they always swarm me and forget the purpose of the scenario capturing the flag lol. Anyways fun times on my Maurader, knowing i m specced for a purpose but knowing i can t beat everything. Shocking the way it should be.

     They are brilliant. Do you know how much fun is added to the game by what they did? I used to wait around 30-50 minutes to join my tier area's scenario, now I can go wherever is the most frequent without having to leave my quests behind in my area. Being able to Que anywhere in your tier is brilliant and makes for more balanced matches as well since Norden's no longer has six bright wizzards annoying the piss out of us. Well done Mythic!

    Great patch, but to be honestly, you can easaly say that most of the player requested, or chat issues should have been at launch.

    * Players no longer need to scroll down through the EUALA when logging into the game. The window now defaults to the bottom, and players need only check the Agreement box and click accept.

    * The war against the gold sellers continues! We have made improvements to the Appeal system to allow players to report spam messages from gold sellers more quickly.

    * TAB-targeting should now more consistently select the nearest enemy in the player's field of view.

    * Corrected an issue that was preventing players from adding new friends to their friend list even while the number of existing friends was below the list's size limit.

    * Fixed the issue that was causing players to sometimes get stuck in a particular animation state.

    * Monsters which change velocity while moving in combat should no longer return “Target is Out of Range” sometimes when attacked by players.

    * The /ignore command will now work more consistently.

    * In response to player feedback, we have made improvements to player pet movement and behaviors.

    * The Pet window should no longer disappear when its master is zoning or entering the game.

    * We made many UI fixes including a new "autoloot" feature requested by many players.

    * Guild cloaks will now display their heraldry properly.

    * We have made several improvements to the chat window, and it should now be more intuitive to use and set up. A number of chat window issues were resolved in the process. We are continuing to work on your requests about chat, with more improvements to come in the future.

    It is a very solid patch.  Should these bugs have been fixed before launch?  Sure, but if not at launch then this first patch is the next best thing.  Most of these were not game breaking, but annoying.   After playing AoC I am glad to see them listening and being honst with the players.  I am still waiting for item linking in the chat box though, this needs to be put in ASAP.

    Im not trying to really have a dig at you here, but i find it humorous that someone who has on occassion defended AoC (which launched with no PvP system whatsoever and completely unplayable sieges) would take a shot at WAR for not having the 1.01 polish in at launch.

    I never thought I'd say this, but I enjoy coming to mmorpg.com more than WHA.  There's just so much less whining here than over there.  (First time I've ever noticed it.)

    Here people seem to focus on what's being done, instead of on what hasn't been done in their own personal wish list.

    The patch was actually larger than I expected, and most, if not all, of the changes are definite improvements.

    You’re implying i was taking a shot? I’m just being honest; this stuff should have been in at launch. I appreciate the patch, and its much needed.

    I also don’t defend any game, I post the reality of the situation, it lies right between the sensationalism (of both sides) and the flat out untrue. The two reason you listed are why I canceled AOC, and now play WaR. I don’t get into the "My game is better than your game". I'm a fan of all games, some for the game as a while, and some for singular things.

    Just becouse i dont put a huge discalmer on every post i make (about what i love/hate, as if im that black and white), people assume i hate/love a game. Its none of the above. Its best if people don't put thier own confusion, or imply things i don't say to my postings.

    Haha, after reading the VNforums this is *not* the reaction to the patch I was expecting.

    It's all about bugs in the patch on the VN, how it broke a lot of things again and how they nerfed AoE farming :)

    You don't defend any game? Oh puhlease. You've been an outright cheerleader for AoC on those forums for months now. You are one of the most vocal Funcom apologists on those threads.

    Shall I go through your post history and quote some of your supposed "non-defending" comments about AoC from those forums here? They're myriad.

    One example I always got a kick out of is how when people bring up issues about content that was hyped pre-launch, wasn't in at all at launch and is still missing months later, you would accuse them of being "impatient" and "wanting everything now".

    Don't come in here now talking about "not defending any game".  That is the height of dishonesty. Some of us read more than one game's forums and are familiar with your posting history, you know.

    Just becouse i dont put a huge discalmer on every post i make (about what i love/hate, as if im that black and white), people assume i hate/love a game. Its none of the above. Its best if people don't put thier own confusion, or imply things i don't say to my postings.

    You don't have to outright say what you love/hate, because the content and tone of your posts speaks volumes.

    Sometimes you have to take a stance that may be confused as a defense in order to get to the truth. It happens on every section on this site, I've seen it here lately more than anywhere else. Yes some of us do view multiple sections here on a regular basis.

    Sorry I find your criticism here a bit unfounded and unfair. He doesn't have to love AOC to say some of  the things he does. Sure, all of us get a little to personal at times, within so much static(aoc board), sometimes it's necessary to yell..

    As for being a FC apologist, I don't feel he is. I'm sure some people think I am as well... hell, that's no skin off my back, I really don't care.

    Sorry back on topic.

    `````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
    The truth of the matter is, he's right, some of these things should have been there at launch. It's great they listen and add things accordingly. Should it really be up to the players to point these things out? As I'd never excuse FC for their short comings, I won't start doing it with mythic.
    They're the company that got me hooked on MMO's to begin with. I feel they left some of their core customers in the dust with this game, much in the same manner SOE did. In pursuit of the casual, easy mode players WOW has attracted to the genre. When they start listening to those people i'll give them kudos, until then WAR will leave a bad taste in my mouth.
    And now Mark Jacobs is damage controlling the AoE exp thing like it was added to the patch by a rogue dev even though it was in the patch notes. So the lead designer didn't check patch notes for the first major patch for his game before it went live?
