A huge problem with WAR.

WAR is a great game but has a huge problem. Infact after this morning (off-time) I am thinking of canceling my account. Gold Spamming!!!!!!!!! Mythic claims it has the smoothes launch in mmo history. That maybe, it was smooth. However since the first hour I logged in the gold spamming has not stopped. Just this morning in about an hour of play I recieved 11 /tells. WAR by far has had the worst gold spamming in any mmo I have ever played in nearly 10 years of mmo experience.
Why this might cause me to leave WAR? Well, I have no faith in EA/Mythic's ability to protect my account. You see the thing is that 6 of the gold spammers were on my ignore list. When I tried to submit a ticket to report the gold spammers I get a message saying no character of that name exists. I have had a ticket submitted for over 2 days asking for a csr to help me if my ignore is broke or way to not get so many /tells. I looked for a way to stop /tells which would suck but I could not find that. Still no response from a CSR
If the spammers can bypass the ignore list and make it so their names do not exist. They must be hacking. If they can bypass these things what is to say they can not eventually hack our accounts. The lack of crs response and the ability for spammers to bypass games mechanics makes me want to log in less and less, simply because of the constent hassles. This is not a small issue. It is also so bad you can not just ignore the occasional spam it is relentless and the same people have been doing it for days. Mythic claims to be be doing a lot about it. I have not seen any evidence they have done anything. With each passing day the gold spamming gets worst. This maybe a game breaker for me. You just can not get immersed in the game with gold spams every few minutes and this is not an exaggeration.

You have to realise that WAR being a huge game, it's going to attract 'alot' of gold sellers, especially being a PVP focused game and the competition is more hardcore then traditional MMO's.
Mythic seem to be working their butt off banning gold seller accounts and finding ways to ease the pain by offering temporary solutions while they work on a long term solution no doubt, as do most MMO's which have issues with gold sellers.
It's a problem in all popular MMO's. Just use the /anon feature until it lessens for you. They've banned over 5,000 accounts already. Mythic is doing a great job in smashing the gold sellers down.

You miss the important issue. The spammers are somehow bypassing game mechanics. They bypass ignore lists and you can not even submit a ticket to report them. I tried to report 4 of the spammers this morning and the ticket was rejected saying those names do not exist. I got that message right as one of the names that "does not exist" was spamming me. I have never seen that in any other game with gold spammers. Now do you understand? I do realize WAR is a huge game I also understand the work that a developer needs to do to fight gold spammers however the situation in WAR is different. You are not responding to an mmo newbie I have been through dozens of launches over the last 10 years! Mythic does not seem to be working their butts off. If that was the case it would slowly be getting better. My experience is it is getting worst.

If you've been an MMO gamer for over 10 years, you should be well aware of the gold selling problems in ALL mmo's. WAR is certainly not the first and will not be the last. Every game I've played in the MMO genre has always had problems with gold sellers. WAR is no different.

Every response has ignored the fact that somehow the spammers are tricking the game to think they do not exist or if they are on ignore they can still send you tells. Ummm Yes I have been in mmos for 10 years. I also noted that I understand that gold selling is in all mmos but nothing like what I have experienced in WAR. WAR is different, it is far worst!
So don't come here and suggest I do not understand launches and gold spamming or that somehow I am not reporting them right. Did not want to do this but I think I need to. MMOs I have been in at launch, UO, EQ, AC, AC2, D&DO, SWG, DaoC, Horizons, WoW, EQ2, LoTRO, FFXI, Silkroads, Guild Wars, Saga of Ryzom, Tabula Rasa, Hellgate London, Planetside, Vanguard, RF Online, CoH/CoV, Archlord, AoC, and few others. In my experience WAR has been by far the worst for gold spamming and I have seen no progress in the area of fixing it. I never said they were not trying I said it has not gotten better and because it is so relentless it has now effect my enjoyment of the game. I can ignore a few /tells but to get them every few minutes I have never experienced that in any other mmo and I truely doubt you have either. I am not a WAR hater I love the game and defend it. however I can not defend this apparent lack of success by Mythic in this area and yes if it continues at this level it is a game breaker.
Just get over it and move on with your life. Look at all this time you've spent whining when you could have been playing. Gold sellers will never go away. You need to accept this...

It is called spam me not, and what it does is filter incoming /tell messages for gold spam. It will then block that from being seen by you. Instead it just shows A message from thisperson was blocked.
There is an icon in the top right by the map that you can click, where it tells you what the message was. The program automatically sends a message to the devs with the person's name and the message they sent you.
This latest patch fixed some problems with the /ignore list and also added some options to reporting gold spammers.
The Devs take the gold problem seriously. Use the above mod and you'll be much happier about the gold situation, and you'll be doing your part by reporting every message in detail.

I have to agree, I've already cancelled my account. Other than the amazing AMAZING amount of gold spam the solo quest system is very VERY boring. So in the mornings there's not alot of RvR going on (even when there is it's so repetitive) and with the boring solo and repetitive RvR - this game can't hold my attention. Oh, I didn't even bother to mention the graphics glitches which are constant. I root something and when I run away, many times it looks like it's still chasing me, sometimes the flags don't appear in RvR - that's annoying too. This game held my interest for about 2 weeks of which the gold spam and various other things about the game get on my nerves. It doesn't seem as social as something like WoW.
I paid 50 bucks for this game - so I feel my opinion (like it or not) can be stated and if you flame me for it, I don't care because I PAID 50 bucks and don't feel as if I got my money's worth.
No, you don't need to accept this, Mythic stated that they have a 0 tolerance for this kind of thing and that they have a crack team of people doing something about it. Oh yea? A crack team that takes 2 days to reply and in some cases I still haven't recieved a reply in over a week yet the gold spam is steady AND the ignore system doesn't block them???
This is annoying, I don't accept it, I never see gold spam in City of Villians, I never see it in wow due to mods.
So you can do something about it.... Cancel your account. Play something less buggy and without gold spam loopholes with smoother gameplay such as WoW or CoV.

The people probably showed up as did not exsist because they may have deleted that toon not long after they sent out the spam.
Most times gold spamers will delete and remake toons in a attempt to not get caught by the gms or what not.
But honestly , gold spaming has always been a part of mmos, ignore it as best you can untill mythic sets up some sort of anti chat spam thing for the game.
Yeah its a problem in every MMO I have played.....The worst I saw was in LoTRO sitting in Bree......It felt like there was gold selling spam every ten seconds (and pretty much the same company doing it too)......It got to the point where I couldnt stand going there anymore.....Yeah it had an ignore feature but there were so many of them that it got very old after awhile......The players themselves are to blame because they are the ones buying it....if the sellers hadno market they would go away......So to all those people that dont think buying gold affects anyone they are wrong.

However, Mythic has shown anyone who has an sincere interest in this game that they are working on fixing those bugs and problems. That includes beating down gold spammers.

I wouldn't worry about it. I don't see gold being important in WAR (granted I've only just reached R17). You need 15 gold for a mount, which I've had since around R15. Renown gear is very cheap, AH seems worthless. Soon the gold farmers will realize they don't have a market, unless endgame is different economocally from what I see now.
Ummm playing, what level are you? I happen to have 3 toons over 20 I play plenty enough. Move on with my life? Only someone who makes games their whole life would make a remark like that. If you think games are my whole life, you probably need to get a life.

I would like to know if having gold in a MMO is a must thing. I feel the companies that make these games should not have gold or currency to be a big focus in the game. There are other ways to make your account worth more. Just having a fully geared character is one way, Or having a crafting profession that you spent a great deal of time to master and gain all the recipes for. There alot of ways to get around currency in game to where gold farming would be obsolete. Yes I feel then we would have spamming of a different kind. But maybe it would take longer for the spammers to get into full swing and not be doing it in early stages of a released MMO. I feel if you pay for something then you should get alot of options and customizing with your purchase, and you also will be paying per month to play the game. I say more a company can offer, and have it where it is more enjoyable expierence when you are in the game. Then that company will no doubt succeed greatly. Just remember you get what you pay for, I have been learning to actually wait for a game to be out for over 6 months to see if it is something really worthwhile to play. Since there are ways to get around spamming then that is wasted time for gamers and developers to spend in doing so. Where as that could be used to play or add other features worth playing or having in a game.

I responded the way I did because you came here to insult nothing more. You had no other intent, based on how you left all that out of your quote. Instead of insulting why not simply try to discuss the issue and if you do not find it valid try simply not responding with insults. I wanted input from people who actually play WAR and care about the game. "get a life" is nothing more then an insult and not a very good one at that. This was a useful post based on now many people actually responded to it with their opinions not insults. I have been in forums a longtime and I realize there are some who never intent to be helpful with their responses. Just gets a bit old.

Their so called trick to hide their name is they simply delete the character and create a new one to spam with. Their so called /ignore hack you claim they have is nothing more than a log out and back in, since all /ignores are not final and only last until you or they log out. You're a little over paranoid and not thinking straight.
