Thinking of Buying this game, should I?

MajesticoMajestico Member UncommonPosts: 481

First off, I am a bit pushed for time, so I have not been able to check out the other threads.

I've been wanting to try something different, and the customer asst in GAME suggested this.

However, although I think it might be quite good, I wanted to know you guys opinions first, as I remember someone saying that it was maybe shutting down soon.

Is this true, and if not, is it worth getting?

Please just don't say no.  Can you elabourate?

Thanks  to anyone who answers.

PS: What are the system specs?

No, its a waste of money. I bought it thinking there would be teamwork... there isnt... its almost like a weaker ersion of DIABLO but without the teamwork... youre pretty much all by yourself

i can't comment on the actual gameplay but i can "forward" to you what i've read about in the past few months.  the genral population of people that tried this game were basically saying that they hated it, it's boring, the gameplay doesn't even draw you in to keep playing and that they wasted their money on it..

I shop at Game a hell of a lot m8 and can say with all honesty that the staff only "advise" games that are either new releases, being released within a week or they have overstock and are trying to sell it off to get money back. the store policy and general pricing isn't bad, it's just staffed by nimwits who reccomend what they're told instead of what they'd truelly reccomend.

Fun single player game, I was hooked until lvl 20 or so, after that I got tired of the same old same old. Would I buy it again if I could go back knowing how it turn out, hell yes, it was fun for around 20hours of wrecking havoc gameplay.

It been publicly known for awhile that the game is a sinking ship which is a shame because it is a pretty cool concept.  I too was considering picking up the game because it was going for $10 at my local frys.  Then I did some reading up and discovered the game is not doing well, had a failed optional subscription system, and was losing players quickly.

I think the initial main selling point for hellgate was that it was from the creators or producers of diablo.

If HGL would have released with stonehenge, and had the upcoming content pack come out in december. Then i feel it would have had a large sell, and large playerbase, and could have continued on a really nice lifecycle, unfortunately, stonehenge came in jan, and even in june the next patch wasnt even close to being ready.

The devs failed.  Terrible terrible terrible.

If you want a couple of weeks of blowing waves of waves of enemies Serious Sam x 10 style with an occasional addition of MMO skills then go for it. It grows old fast though as the combat is the only thing that holds this stinking pile together, theres no real variation or desire to continue after you have the main skills for your build. Diablo was a complete package that just had something I can't explain that kept it satisfying that Hellgate totally runs out of.
