The staff is working on getting the game added, just be patient.

On of the requirements are in-game screenshots, so until Mortal Online releases screenies it cannot be added to the list.

this game looks like its several years from even starting testing.  Way...way too early for getting pumped up about a game.

I have to say, I have been following Mortal for a while now.  It is still in the phase that everyone keeps making suggestions about things we don't know yet so a lot of creative ideas pop up, but there's lots to be done before it makes its way to beta testing.  I check the site once in a while to see if anything new pops up.

wow, nice to see epic finally getting involved in an mmo game, so many games have used the unreal engine as a base for their games.  But Epic is truely the ones that know how to do a FPS experience right.  It's going to be interesting to see how this turns out.  more than likely it will be grade A stuff.

  • javacjavac Member Posts: 1,175

Epic isn't involved, they just sold a license.

There's no info no media, just a pre-rendered movie trailer.

It'll be just like Darkfall, except lots fewer features.

According to the developers the ideas for the game first starts in 02, they began coding in 05, they are in alpha stages, should be in beta this winter, and have a release in summer of 09 unless there are giant setbacks :D

Also ingame screenshots are coming this month.

I'm pleased to see they are making progress but that was 1 screenshot and 2 concept art drawings and some text. not exactly earth-shattering.

    From the newsletter:

    "Status of Mortal Online

The production of Mortal Online is currently in a stage where we are migrating the game content into our new network solution. The main reason for not sharing much game information (such as detailed gameplay, combat, in-game videos) at this stage is because we want to make sure we can deliver what we will be showing. As soon as our large systems and features are in the network solution, and this might take some time, we are going to show you more of Mortal Online."

Also the sidelink that says screenshots only has one image, but the link above has two in-game images. I know, not earth-shattering that there are two but those of us who are following this daily get excited over these things

    1 in-game screenshot, 2 concept sketches.

Looks pretty good from reading the FAQs and watching the Teaser Trailer. Seems a bit far from launch, but I'll deffinately be checking this out in the future.

Its Pay to play, sandbox driven, full pvp, full loot, city destruction/conquering in some cases and more. Its using the Unreal Engine 3 which is an engine created for next generation gaming consoles like the PS3 and Xbox360.

Epic is actually making the code for the network solution, and the movie is real time...

how do you know darkfall will have more? you don't. we don't know all of mortal's features. you're just saying that out of blind love for darkfall.

on a side note, i hope darkfall succeeds, only so the filth and depravity of forumfall doesn't spill over into the fine, mature community we have gathering around mortal. :)

don't be ridiculous. epic sells licenses, but never gets involved with their licensees.

the movie is obviously pre-rendered. look at the cave + dragon scenes again. it's obviously a 3dsmax render, i know cause i do them.

as for Darkfall v MO, Darkfall is years ahead of MO, the MO guys are still starting out. MO will definitely have fewer features than DF, DF has several extra years of development behind it.

Really you say so ? You should look up things before you state them.

Starvault has signed extended partnership with epic games china, you can look it up on Starvault.se. If you aren't swedish use google translate.. I'm even so nice I'll include the link here 209.85.171.104/translate_c

and I'm not sure myself if it's pre rendered or not, but the devs have stated that it's real time many times all over the place. You'll just have to take their word on that, or not as you seem to do.

and do you know exactly which features are in Mortal Online ?

    I smell a fanboy..

like i said, Epic does not get involved with their licensees, they just sell licenses to their code, which is what SV is doing. they are licensing the network code that plugs into their engine.

this is not an 'extended partnership'. they are just licensees. just like if i buy a license to Microsoft windows, i am not one of Microsoft's partners, nor does it mean Microsoft is helping me to write programs on their operating system.

provide us with a link to a developer quote where they say it's not prerendered.

as for MO features, MO is effectively "Darkfall Lite". This is not necessarily a bad thing.

i smell naivety and a lack of reading comprehension.

news.mmosite.com/content/2008-10-15/20081015225506492,3.shtml First question on that page, even specifies what spec it's running on.

"As a comparison, the teaser is actually running in real-time with highest settings on a DualCore 6600 with a GeForce 8800 (512 MB) and 2 GB RAM."

Though that is probably on the offline version, so expect higher requirements.

Well as for the partnership, I guess you're right. But that doesn't mean it would be any worse.

Though they have said in a newsletter that they are developing a network solution for Mortal Online.

But I'm gonna trust the actual announcement, I guess my reading comprehension is slowly failing =/....Or I'm just confused/tired.

Then again, do you know exactly all the features Mo will have ? But I guess I know for a fact that Mortal Online does not  have Ship combat etc on start. But you probably did not know that, and your comment about Mo having less features then Df seem pretty biased. Sorry for not being able to read your mind =P

Thats if Darkfall releases before summer of 2009. Otherwise people will think DF copied mortal, at least the masses. Anyway whichever releases first, I'll try.
